Most South Africans today obtain driving licences without reading a single page of a learner's book. They fail to obey the most basic rule of the road, which is keep left and pass right.
Believe me this pathetic driver behaviour is not just in your location, too many Australian drivers take pride in the same level of ignorance, in fact they work hard to perfect it. To compound the difficulties there are ridiculous restrictions placed by the police on top speeds used whilst responding to an emergency here in W. Australia.
Its actually both arrogance & ignorance. This happens all over the world. There are just certain individuals who will never obey the road rules and the sooner one realizes this the lesser the frustration on the road

its no emergency vehicle that, its a private security firm that does not have any right to use a siren or lights, only an ambulance is an emergency vehicle, go read the Road Act, no person is allowed to exceed the speed limit, not even a policeman racing to an accident scene is allowed to exceed the speed limit,

@@eisbeinGermanyplease can you site where on the road traffic act it states this. They may speed to respond to an emergency whilst running code as far as i am aware. The act does state that the emergency vehicle must reduce its speed to normal (which in my interpretation would mean that prior to the intersection they weren’t going normal speeds) They must still be aware of their surroundings and drive in a safe manner, but as far as i know and can find it is legal.

Some security companies fit lights and put the hazards on when responding. That is not legal. Please note that security companies are not considered by legislation to be an emergency service and may not exceed the speed limit or disobey road signs. Section 58 and 60 of the Act apply.

South Africans nowadays are too much in a hurry to be driving....so they buy their licenses. My son failed his first test and passed the second time he went. I also explained to him that everyone who buys their license is a risk on the road because they did not get proper training. I also asked him to imagine that he bought his license and in the future hypothetically he was involved in an accident and someone died as a result. Would he be able to sleep peacefully knowing that he bought his license and did not go for proper training. I am glad he understood and is happy that I got him to do it the right way.
