Jason, I'm going too add my two cents. I feed out of the 1200 model and will likely be purchasing a second soon as well. Here's why it works for me. First and foremost is timesaving as well as safety. Let me explain, we feed approximately 30 head of doelings out of this model. I didn't have fence line bunks either. This way I don't have to fight thirty head of goats surrounding me and pushing on me when carrying feed to the bunks. Now the time saving I work full-time during the day as well as does my wife leaving us limited time to feed in the evening. With the 1200hd, I can fill it up with right at twenty, fifty pound bags of feed or right at 1000lbs. This lasts the thirty head right at 14 days give or take a day or two depending on the weather and their feed intake. This if I'm doing my calculation right comes out to approximately 2.38 lbs of feed per day per head. This is on the number 4 setting for the feeder. Now it does depend on what type of feed you use as far as the fine or dust waste. I feed a sweet feed in mine and have little to no waste. When I fed a pelletd feed from a local dealer here I experienced the same problem with the area you collecting the dust/ fines. That feed was high in protein and a bit dusty itself though. I did feed another pellet and did not have as much waste with it. I do not use the white limiter with my feeder as I found u really had to watch that it didn't catch feed and mold up in the corners. My next purchase will be the 1200 and here's what the plan is. I will put it in the fence line and feed two different kinds of feed two different pens 1 off each side. Reason for the 1200 here is when I was going to get two 200s for the two separate pens the I'm almost at the price of a 1200 and have more feed capacity. Just got to read your 2 cents. I see all the reasons you stated are very valid and like I said it would all depend on your operation and if I was feeding a big pen of recips I would go with one of the 1200 or something like it. My biggest down fall is the cost for what I’m using it for as of now.
Also I must add too the 1200s don't have too be inside a building or covered and are very water tight.

Can you put a fine mesh on bottom to sift out the dust on home made feeder? I plan to get two nannies next year and like that one you made
