  • This video is a review of the course cs50x2024 that I have followed myself in the past few weeks. Based on your personal objectives with programming and coding I will tell you if this course is a good course for you and what alternatives do you have if it is not. We will talk about the things you learn in this course and the difference between low level and high level languages in programming.

Dear fellow watchers, I kindly disagree with Mr @EvolveEdge. Please do yourselves a favour and go through the CS50 course, it will set you up for the field, and give you something that no other course does.
    My humble opinion.

Working in tech for many years, did it myself just out of curiosity and i loved it. Great foundational content, great as an introduction for everybody starting out in tech, great content, crazy presentation skills, teaches you a little bit of the basics, you get to do a little bit of C, a little bit of python. I personally can't think of a better introduction course than CS50X. People are recommending it for a reason and i would even say it doesn't even matter what goal you have, as long as it is to get into tech, you should do it to get a solid introduction to computers and coding. It's so unspecific but yet so valuable.

I completely disagree. Even a 70-hour bootcamp won't provide the same level of theoretical understanding that CS50 offers. This understanding is crucial, as you won't have someone guiding you toward the comprehension required to be independently effective.
however based on your elaboration you did make a good point and i do think that taking this course is a must sooner or later

If you want to half ass your career and be a shitty programmer don't take it and don't try to understand how things work. If you want to try to be a code monkey and get hired by some start up that will fail because of you then don't take it. If you actually are interested in this field and want to have a legit career you wanna learn and improve at then take it or learn about such things from a different source but still do try to understand at least the basics. Without foundation or gaps in the foundation you will collapse sooner or later.

ya, you got a point, i agree with you, starting with a more practice oriented course would be a much better than a theory based at the start, but this course can actually make a lot of things better even for a new programmer, so idt it will really matter much.

things become messy in rust. it has lots of new concept which makes it hard for good programmers also.

4:35 bro you literally said that in the title
I kind of agree with you. CS50 isnt a full course on C but the basics of programming, and it helps you understand the very basics (like they explained bits for about 20 minutes in the first lecture), which helps someone who already does programming to program better and more courageful. If you want a job or plan your entire career around CS, of course watch this, but it wont be enough itself, and you have to do lots of coding before a job application like you said.
I just want to learn programming as a hobby, so i have infinite time to improve myself thus i started with CS50.
