I have just recently gotten into PRS and longer range shooting, I have been watching videos from a few people but I always click your videos because you guys can break the stuff down instead of saying the same stuff over and over again you guys can actually teach. So thank you. Also I can’t wait for applications to be open at the end of the year
GREAT video packed full of the best experience & advice to be had !!,.....Thanks for your generosity to share - guys like you make the greatest sport even greater.
Knowledge is power! You guys are like superheroes. Chad thank you for explaining bracketing wind calls. Michael thank you for the shoot what you suck at that has been good motivation for me. Francis your shoot plan has been added to my toolbox from a few videos ago. I have also added a shoot timer to help me become aware of how fast I can shoot.
Regarding Francis' instructions for wind and direction of fire---in my limited experience and having my kestrel set to wd change with dof and wind for all targets, once I take a wind reading for the sector, i can just take a dof for each target in the sector and the wind is automatically adjusted to the new dof. Looks like this was added in firmware update 1.41 and later. Is this your observation as well? Please let me know if this is incorrect. Thank you for your awesome instructional materials! Matthew
That's correct. Set "Wind Direction Change" function to "W/DoF" and "capture all targets". That lets you use the sector "wind capture" for all Targets and then set DoF for individual targets and you'll have unique individual targets wind solutions.
Could you make a video explaining how to correct for wind? Assuming my initial dialing is 0, and wind is from 9 o'clock. Aim at the left edge of the target but the bullet goes to the right side of the 0.5mil target. In this case, should I change to the next wind bracket (0.3mil) or skip the next one and choose an even higher one (0.6mil)? After moving to the new wind bracket, should we still aim at the edge of the target or the center of the target? Thank you😀
Another case is that when the wind is strong if the bullet lands on the right part of a near target and you know if you continue to aim at the left edge, you will miss the far target. In this case, should you move to the next wind bracket or just hold a little bit more to the left as a 'temporary solution'? What if moving to next wind bracket will cause a miss to the left of the near target?
I’m a new competitor, other than dry fire, what are the most important things to get done at home before the first match to get me as prepared as possible?
Forsure! Here are a couple things you can add to you practice before the match-practice equipment failures (mag changes, jams, etc) and find/fix the weak link. -create practice wind/range scenarios to make dope cards that represent real world stages (helps with knowledge of system and data) - go through gear and know the exact purpose/scenario you need to use it. Decide whether it's critical gear or just nice to have. It reduces the amount of gear and simplifies your pack. -work on sleep, hydration, and nutrition planning the week before so you can be at your optimal during the match
How do you have anywhere close to that amount of time to rehearse a stage between stage brief and when your going to shoot while catching brass and helping the stage run smoothly

Just some feedback…at 3 minute mark, Francis made a comment about touching the props and said it is considered “unsportsmanlike” and I (initially) found that quite condescending and a turn-off. However…I went back to read the transcript and saw the full context of his comment and understand that he stated that the before the stage, shooters are not allowed to touch the props, hence his comment. Why I missed this statement is the background music was (for me with audio hearing challenge) was distracting or competing with his talking points. So, use the background music to transition between points and turn it WAY down when the presenter is talking please. My apologies to Francis for my initial impressions, but wanted to comment based on “first impressions” and how in post-op production of this video, the sound engineer should make better note of balance when presenters are speaking.
Do a segment specifically on target size vs wind brackets please

Great stuff, as always.
Thanks guys for doing this and sharing your knowledge. We appreciate you!

I live, I learn...
Thanks my friends
This is a phenomenal video. I've been shooting uspsa for a while, and some of the fundamentals and practices from these tips also apply there.
Thank you for watching and we will keep them coming!
Excellent video

@@FrancisColonPRS Thank you very much! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge 🙏
Are we going to see a video on Chad's grip? Will MDT be offering it?

On #4, can you elaborate more on converting a target width to a MPH wind hold?
It's a larger more complicated question to answer which we will do a follow up video on. Make sure to you stay tuned

*Is there a video that goes over the rifles you're shooting?*

Is that an area 419 suppressor?
Yes it is

Bino + rangefinder mount? Never seen that
Yep, it is becoming more and more common in PRS. Some are even 3D printing their own mounts
@@MDTTACwho makes it? Cant find it anywhere.
It is a custom one made by the shooter
