Months later this is Fursterating because in this short bit I learned so much and really want to see the rest of the video even after I paid the guy but maybe he is dead or on drugs, i don't know. Ive looked for other demos but this was the best. Uggghhhh. Can I have my $10 back
I'm pleased he mentioned Benny Thomasson, whose Texan father Luke wrote this song. Benny's playing of it is the definitive version and someone kindly posted it on UA-cam. Just search for "Midnight on the Water" - Benny Thomasson, with Benny's introduction. Some people play it slower now, but I prefer to dance the waltz with bit of a swing. Go on, try it Benny's way, and this video is an excellent version to learn from. I first heard this tune played by a Scottish Ceilidh band on Radio Scotland - and just had to check it out. Good tunes travel far.
I have never heard this one before. It's one of those tunes that's a little on the dark/cajun side but sooo beautiful. Ian after hearing the way you make it sound, I don't want to hear it from anyone else. I don't even know who did it originaly. And that's fine with me. I will put my hearth into this. I have to have this one in my repertoir. Thank you so much for all of your effort and precision you put into your lessons and the way you make us understand it. Big fan. BRAVO!
@@jackburton9214 Thanks for the info. I had already listen to a few other versions of it since I posted my first reply and Mark O'Connor was one of them. But, personally I thought it was too overplayed. (as we often say, too jazzed up). This song is somewhat beautifully haunting and sad and I feel it is best played in its simplest form. It does not need the extras. Best regards.
Just went ahead and spent $10 and bought the full video, but does it take a while to get the download? I just noticed this was posted 7 years ago....hopefully your still active

Still mad I can't get the other half of this video when I payed for it and you disappeared from the Internet 😕. Someone a SPIGMA said they knew of you but didn't know how to get a hold of you either

Lovely phrasing, Ian... inspiring, emotive playing.
