Nice and very informative video! To me: - Vintage-style, subtle and rounded tremolo works better *before* reverb - Modern-style, choppy and slicer-type tremolo works better *after* reverb
I have one before and after. Fulltone is still my favorite for tremolo. With it barely on it adds such a lovely analog goodness that I have only heard from an old fender.
Love this!!! Before watching this vid I decided I like having both options already, I’ve concluded going RE-2 Space Echo (with ‘verb up) into Harmonious Monk, and then into Echolution 3 & Polara :] nice to see that I’m not alone!!
Before watching I was like "Duh before reverb it will sustain and be smooth and after Will Be more chopped up sound" I Didn't realise the fact that the reverb tail keeps the trem going if the trem is after. Great video keep it up!
What a fantastic idea for a video series. The two reverbs with the tremolo sounded ace. I've got some tremolo videos planned for the not too distant future, I think I'll include a bit of that kind of sound.
Just picked up a Diamond Tremolo after doing Tons of Research. I narrowed it down to 3. Stone Deaf Tremotron, Hamstead Soundworks Signature Tremolo and the Diamond Analog Tap-Tempo Tremolo. All 3 are Killer. Now my Question is Before or after Strymon Big Sky. It Sounds Great in both positions. Very Informative Episode. Enjoyed it.
People are talking about tremolo because it's the best modulation effect! 😎 I definitely prefer my trem after reverb because it's more pronounced. Great video, Stefan!
ThePedalZone Thanks! I definitely will! While we're on the topic, have you tried tremolo reverb? Like actual reverb modulated by a tremolo. I think it's a killer effect as well!
I picked up a tr-2 and after watching you video (so good) I put my trem after my ghost echo and before my RV-6. I really like what it gives me. Thank you for your help.
Thank you for your informative and well presented video. I think you are right on the money. My pedal sequence is Keeley 4 knob Compressor, Mad Professor Royal Blue Overdrive, TC Electronics Alter Ego Delay [original version], Wampler Latitude Tremolo, then Wampler Faux Spring reverb [original model]. The Alter Ego has a wide selection of delay and modulation types that can give me much the same end result as reverb before tremolo before reverb.
Just bought a Tremotron and I was wondering where to place it in the chain. Tried a few different combinations and finally settled it after my Dark Star & Meteore and before my Avalanche Run. Pure pulsating bliss :D
Thanks, you just solved my actual problem, tremolo in between two reverb, the first being part of the mono part of my pedalboard and then the stereo part of my pedalboard starts just behind the tremolo
Bought a TC HoF Mini directly after your video and put it in the loop directly before my Tremotron. Love the combination and love that i now have 2 reverbs (a Regular HoF2 after evrything) that work nicely together. Thanks for the tip!
It was a revelation to put my trem after my delay, keeping the trem active with the delayed notes and feeding it into my reverb, lush! Then again, two reverbs sounds like a fun idea too! 💡👍🏻
You got some beautiful sounds there! I only recently started messing with a little tremolo pedal I have had for a long time but haven't used. This is some tasty inspiration! Thanks!
That's a really cool idea! Your channel, in addition to introducing me to tons of pedals, has made me want to explore ambient guitar in my own music. You make some pretty amazing sounds on here, and I'd like to try incorporating some of your ideas into my work.
Oh man the Tremutron has been on my list ever since it came out! It has everything (including awesome design and artwork!) I could ever want in a tremulo!
I love the sounds and textures you're making, man. And I love your enthusiasm! Keep up the videos (and if you're ever in Hawaii come find me and we'll jam) ;)
Found the same combination by accident.... Using Keeley Hydra with reverb selected first into my amp... Then realized I had the amps spring reverb on also...what a totally immersive and inspiring sound....then switched to the dirty channel on the amp and oh boy !!!!... Love your videos man!!
Stefan could you do a video on your chord selections, so beautiful! The chords you go to after single note lines are perfect tonally. #Nashville loves you😘
Nice video man I’m gonna try tho today btw that jazz master guitar sounds awesome it’s all stock or any mods have you made to it I’m thinking about getting one of those

Happy to hear you’ve been watching since the TC days, but no, I don’t work there anymore. Really happy you like my new show though and the sounds produced 😊🙏
The tremolotron looks great, but do you ever use your EQD Night Wire? I still haven't found anything as cool as its attack mode. Now I need to try it between two reverbs :)

Wouldn’t really change anything for me personally. I still prefer Trem after reverb. I imagine you could get a cool lo-fi sound by running it before a Shallow Water though. Nifty studio trick perhaps 😊🤘
idigmusic - Yes, if you’re using amp reverb then that reverb will always be after the tremolo. Then you can run another reverb before your tremolo on the board and then you have a divine sonic sandwich 🥪😊
@@thepedalzone hmmm I was using a Fathom Reverb as a room reverb BEFORE my Monument tremolo, with the amp giving a spring reverb to add some more tail... but never could quite fall in love with the sound... maybe it was the way the tremolo was effecting the reverb.. I think for what i'm doing, I should have the reverb last? Im going to try it. As one poster said "vintage style trem before reverb" and im using a vintage style harmonic tremolo so maybe itll sound better BEFORE.
He uses a Fender Squier JMascis Jazzmaster, all the gear he used is in the description. As for your second question I, my general advice is to try before you buy. Go to a Guitar Center and pick up every Jazzmaster in your budget.
thats a good idea only if in his town has a guitar center, or a decent guitar shop... The Squier are good, but here where i live it costs the same as a mexican fender jazzmaster, their sound is a little bit different, but after all pick the one you liked the most and play the fuck out of her, in the future if you didnt like the sound you can put some pickups and voila, much easyer to chanhe puts than the overall aesthetic.
I got an astral destiny and I've moved it around and put it in the chain and in the fx loop. Even when I max out the mix and trails, it's like it's just not there that much in my sound. Am I dumb or do I have a defective pedal? Am I expecting too much? It's not a stereo set up...
I don't really do demos of instruments. I just don't know enough about guitars to justify me doing demos. Plus I enjoy nerding out on pedals way more than guitars 😊But check out my most recent demos. I use the Jazzmaster in all of them. That should give you a decent idea of what it sounds like. It's a great guitar. You get way more than what you pay for.
Does the loss of pick attack bother you at all with the Afterneath? It drives me nuts. I do not like the perceived loss in volume when the mix is set at 50%...
I would like to get Afterneath so much. Is it still in your board? What do you think of it as a single reverb pedal? Or better to go for blue sky/cathedral (for same price)? I want something dark and ethereal
Well, I'm in the fortunate situation where I have a lot of pedals to choose from. So my pedalboard setups are never fixed. It's a constantly rotating cast of devices that serve the context I'm creating at the moment. But yes, the Afterneath often goes on there. It's an amazing reverb, and it will definitely deliver your dark ethereal ambience. If you want a lot of different reverb types in one unit (Spring, hall, plate, shimmer etc etc etc) then it won't deliver that. It does one thing, but it does it extremely well. If you like what you hear in the demos of it, then you're gonna love it in real life as well.
@@thepedalzone thank you for answer! I came across Walrus Descent for a "decent" price yesterday and immediately grabbed it (doesn't mean I don't want Afterneath anymore 😊). May not be a universal reverb also but amazing for ambient soundscapes. Best luck with your UA-cam and music. Really dig ambient stuff on your channel 🤘

wonderful !! in between two freaking ambient reverbs, will be the plan
Yes! The best plan :) Happy you liked the video
My very first stomp box was a Boss TR-2 back in 1998, I’ve been all over it for twenty years! Probably my favourite modulation effect :)

@@PatronSaintSpyridon Yes you do! Better than most.
Just realized I need more reverb and tremolo pedals now xD
you just need the one tremolo, the #Tremotron.
I believe that most Fender amps with built in tremolo and reverb had reverb before tremolo.
Exactly! I think that does make more sense since reverb after tremolo kind of fills in the gaps, kind of mitigating the tremolo effect.
4:30 sounds fantastic!
Cheers, man! Kind of you 🙏
Can u do tonal teamwork chorus or flanger before or after delay
Sure. Will look into that someday 😊
