Over the years, the meaning of this song was lost... But then out of the blue you hear it again, and it touches you deeper than the last. Truly a classic.
It was a different time when the song came out. Same sex marriage was still an impossible dream, and that first gay kiss in music video caused backlash. Still remember when the video was censored with the gay kiss cut out on most tv stations.
So this song is very impactful, it was also written by P!nk’s head writer and P!nk, there was a little shade for a while between everyone because her writer brought it to Christina. P!nk has come out and said “That is Christina’s song, and always will be. ❤” I think the shade will always be between P!nk and her former writer- but the meaning of this song is everything, and for that no drama exists. Sing on Christina. ❤
Thanks, Lee, for a much needed throwback. Christina is amazing, and the song and video were much needed at that time - and as history repeats, needed again. Written by the amazing Linda Perry, who has written many hit songs (from Pink to James Blunt), but she was more publicly visible as the lead singer of 4 Non Blondes and as the former wife of Sara Gilbert (Roseanne and Big Bang Theory).
This is such an empowering song. One of her best IMHO. Great message. Great vocals. Another song I like, is Sara Bareilles’ “Brave”. And if you want something totally different, calling out the racists, fascists, nihilists and bigots, “Everybody’s Walkin’ This Land” by Home Free.
Newly released by Liliac..YESTERDAY......the Official Music Video from their new album. Song is "Madness".....so is the album....with the remaining8 songs are just Lyric videos (for now?)
I’ve been marked to my husband for 8 years. We never kiss in public or show any affection in public because we don’t want to be accuse of ‘pushing our lifestyle’ in everyone’s face.
As an out and proud blk gay man, this comment broke my heart! I remember being afraid of what other people would think of me for being gay, then I remembered my parents telling me to never take on other people's issues with me, that's for them and their therapist to deal with. You and your husband live in a far more excepting time, (hello you can actually have a legalized husband), if you have the urge to kiss him or hold his hand in public, THEN YOU BETTER DAMN WELL DO IT!!! F*CK 'EM! Some of us have long fought to get us HERE, YOU NEED TO ENJOY IT, ALL OF IT!🥰
this song is, well beautiful. It was written by Linda Perry, the woman responsible for Pinks sophomore album Mizzundastood. When she made the switch from R & B to writing her own more personal songs, which came out sounding more like rock pop and the Pink we all know now was born. After Mizzundastood was a success Linda became high in demand and Christina really needed the boost at this time. She did the “stripped” down version, more rock more emotional. Sadly for Christina I believe this was all about album sales and production. This is still the album of Christina’s that did the best but that’s not saying much, she wasn’t able to maintain true artistry like pink and even Britney has. But good song
I don’t agree with Christina needing a song a that time - she could have continued the same road like Britney… in fact she had 3 number 1 singles on the billboard hot 100 with her first album while Britney had one and she was considered the bigger raw talent - even though Britney technically was a bigger seller… that was reason, according to rolling stones magazine, that Christina won the BNA Grammy. In the beginning of making her stripped album she already had won 2 Grammy awards and a Latin Grammy and was the only artist in the world to have the same single at Billboard hot 100 and Billboard Latin hot 100 at the same time. There are no disputes that Beautiful is Christina’s biggest hit and earning her the fourth Grammy but the song doesn’t stand alone when it comes to the success of her stripped album. The album was so much more than Beautiful and a lot of fans including celebrities (before they became famous) often prefer other songs. The success of stripped was not about how much it earned but how it displayed themes before its time and is a timeless masterpiece with incredible vocals that separated her from the rest of the “pop singers” at that time. …fun fact… Pink really wanted beautiful for herself but Linda wanted Christina for that song 😅
@@Nissen88clearly you’re a Christina fan, I didn’t mean to insult her vocal talent. But what I meant was artists with artistry and longevity. Two things Christina doesn’t have. She def needed to be taken seriously as an artist at that time. She needed an identity since being compared to Britney was obviously not working out for her. Idk where that version of Christina went after Stripped 🤷🏻♀️. Because as far as I can see Pink breaks all sorts of records with her tours and Britney pretty much popularized modern pop and is thought of in the ranks of Madonna and Michael Jackson. And yes, only 1 number one hit on that album, but the album is one of the best selling of all time so I feel like that’s better lol bigger pond ya know? Great singer Christina, but it kinda ends there for me, sorry.
Pink actually wanted the song and linda perry said no. When she then heard christina sing it, she gave it to her straight away as christina has an emotional and vulnerability in her voice that pink or britney could only dream of having. Also, her first album was technically her best selling album, less than britneys first but selling more than any album pink has sold. Clearly youre a pink fan and thats fine, shes a great artist but on a talent level vocally doesnt sit any where near christina aguilera
@@cammy142I’m not arguing about the song. Sure, pink wanted it and didn’t get it, it happens. Purely from a technical vocal standpoint, I agree with you. I like my artists well rounded is all.

Yeah definitely still relevant today!
By far, Christina Aguilera's most beautiful song
Stripped is one of the best album in the 2000s, and best for Aguilera
A few people have told me that now ☺️
Totally agree
Im watching from Philippines, my hair skin is stand, wooooh..super i love christina aguilera..sharp and clear voice and powerful
HURT, omg I cry everytime watching the video
FUN FACT: The voice guide used in the final song was the first take she did. Linda Perry (songwritter and producer) said this in many interviews.
It was a flip of “Dirrty” and it was the prefect timing. This really set the tone for “stripped”.
This woman save me...
Just brought tears to my eyes as if hearing this song for the first time. Timeless song with a timeless message.
Pink like a pill

It's a needed message. Loved your genuine reaction. ❤

I'm not always a fan of how she uses it, but she has a gorgeous voice, and this is one of her better songs IMO.
So not my genre, but this song hit so hard when it came. And when I saw the video for the first time it just struck.
You should watch the video to the song Say Something by A Great Big World featuring Christina Aguilera.
