PAINT A TEXTURED HEART
SUPPLIES NEEDED
2 Cardstock papers (choose any color for the heart, plus a color you'd like for the background of the heart)
Aluminum foil sheet (at least 2x as long as your cardstock paper)
Acrylic paint (one color, along with white and black)
Marker
Scissors
Glue (craft glue or glue gun)
Paint brush
Paper towel
Paper or cloth to protect your work surface

TIME NEEDED
The video is approximately 15 minutes, but the actual project may take about 30 minutes to complete. Remember, the video can be paused at any point if you need more time to complete a step.​

AGE LEVEL
This art lesson + project is for all ages but geared towards the elementary and junior high level.​

YOUNGER STUDENT OPTION
Have a young preschooler who wants to create alongside their older sibling? Allow them to practice drawing hearts on paper, or give them smooth foil and let them crinkle it gently then open it to feel the new texture. Have them make shapes or random designs out of their newly textured foil. Glue their shape/design on paper; make them feel proud.

PARENT/TEACHER TIP
If your child enjoyed forming a shape and creating texture, give them the freedom to create another design. Choose any shape, get creative, and cover it in wrinkled foil. Paint it -- choose a different color or a variety of colors. Remember, there are no mistakes in art.
