Awesome video! The Pi-Lit sequential barricade lights that you guys use are really neat, also really cool traffic control setup. Great job flagging, you men and women keep America moving, I have great respect for all of you and I hope I will be part of the blue collar community one day!

@@Monkey_Devin2yt That's good! Crew that removes and replaces them is probably busy on other projects. We always have our saw guys ahead of us, usually, about a week or so.
There has only been two times that we have used mobile traffic lights. Both times were for replacing section of road that a windmill farm and pipeline crew used to cross the road. It was traffic control that they had setup for us though. We normally just flag two lane roads. Alot of times there are numerous side roads and temporary traffic lights wouldn't work on those kinds of jobs.
Concrete is generally more expensive than asphalt due to several contributing factors. The raw materials for concrete, particularly cement, are more costly due to the energy-intensive manufacturing process. Additionally, concrete requires more labor and time for installation as it must be mixed, poured, and allowed to cure for about a week, unlike asphalt which can be laid and used almost immediately. Maintenance and repair of concrete are also more complex and costly; when concrete cracks or deteriorates, repairs often involve replacing or extensively repairing large sections rather than simple patching. Furthermore, concrete offers more customization options, which can increase its price, and its production has a higher environmental impact due to CO2 emissions.
Well normally we have our own rubber tired excavator with a thumb, but the main guys who setup this project didn't think to ask for a thumb on the machine when requesting it apparently. He did pretty good without it though.
NCA, or Non-Chloride Accelerator, is a water-soluble powder that speeds up the setting time of concrete. It's made with calcium formate instead of calcium chloride, which can cause corrosion in steel and efflorescence in concrete.
I have a headset for hearing protection. We have ear plugs available in the truck that everyone knows where to find. I always tell people they need them on.
Different people have different job positions out here. At times, some people are just standing around waiting for certain things. Some people are finishers, all they are supposed to do is finish concrete once its on the ground. So these guys alot of times are just waiting until holes are ready. These videos of mine will show the amount of work we do.
2 guys doing the work, 2 guys holding up shovels, 2 guys standing by the pick-up along the road, a fat guy playing pocket pool. I'm going to design a shovel that stands by itself and put a lot of road guys on unemployment.
I get it, youre trying to be funny. Everybody has a role in the project though. Once the road is removed by the operators, the laborers start laying out baskets and Drilling holes. Then concrete comes and finishers begin their work after laborers pour out the concrete. Watch the entire video and understand before commenting blindly. Not everything is able to be done right away. There's steps to this that take different roles. You wouldn't be able to do all of this in a single day without each and every person you see here.
@@ARoadBuilder I did watch the entire video before I commented. Having laborers and finishers is a huge waste of money. That means you are paying someone to stand around. No reason your guys can't do both. My crews knew all aspects and could step in at any time during the process. There is always something to do and no need for anybody to be standing around.
@@jackcoberly2705 Everyone here has different skills that are required to get the job done. This particular job had some people waiting to do their work because of it being on a 2 lane road and requiring it to be flagged. Come watch these other videos I post. We are able to do concrete patching and leave open holes over night. Allowing everyone to get right to work at 7am each morning instead of waiting on removal to make a hole in the ground. The way you are commenting is like you expect everyone to jump in the cab with the operator and push buttons to help him remove the road.

Dont need a thumb if you got the right style bucket for ripping out asphalt and concrete that is certainly not it id be pissed too haha
Ripping out and replacing concrete/asphalt is all we do. This guy likes a thumb when removing with an excavator but he got it done without.

Have you considered renting or using the mobile traffic lights???? When you are working in heavy traffic?

Wondering why you guys didn’t Mill up the Asphalt?
We don't have a mill machine and usually it isn't that difficult to just pop it off the concrete base and separate.
Concrete lasts longer than asphalt but is more expensive.
is that right? why is that u think

Can you do a video about how you hook up the hammer to the backhoe
I've never had to hook it up or even seen them have it off. They're always on the 4 or 5 backhoes we have.
I would request a wheeled excavator with a hydraulic thumb when renting equipment
Well normally we have our own rubber tired excavator with a thumb, but the main guys who setup this project didn't think to ask for a thumb on the machine when requesting it apparently. He did pretty good without it though.
