Worst day detailing , very early on: Ran out of food. Ran out of water. Was a disaster of all disaster details. Had to piss. 105 degree California summer day. Customer was never home, they left me the cash payment in glove box a head of time. Car was on an uphill slant in drive way and door hinges were blown. Doors fell back on me every time I opened them and needed to clean. I literally prayed my way through it. No joke. It still haunts me
@@nickcruz7422 dammm bro! gotta hate days like that! The worst for me is when something breaks in the middle of a job that you can’t fix… generator goes down or pressure washer… etc it’s all part of the business, but man it sucks when you have those days!
Great video Jeff. Two things real quick. Do you have to take HOA regulations into consideration when you're working in a nice area? And I also agree that a bad day detailing (or just working for yourself) is better than a good day in a cubicle. Thanks for sharing your knowledge
@@BlaknMild5243 there’s not much to worry about with HOA, some communities don’t allow work on Sundays or before 8am other than that you’re good! Cheers brother!
A funny story... I detailed a Ford Explorer last year. The 3rd row seat was in the down position when it was dropped off. When I did the interior, I raised the 3rd row seat... it was in pristine condition and had never been used. When the client came to get her vehicle, she asked me if I installed another row of seats. Apparently, the third row was in the down position when she bought it and it had never been raised.
Hey man I had this happen to me so what I do is get my wash bucket and run the hose through the handle that way it always stays down just a way to prevent it from happening again
@@frankd3460 I haven’t been to the gym in about 6 months, but I will be starting back up again soon once we change the clocks and it starts getting dark by 5pm ;) Thanks brother 🙏
Hey brother. Here's a pro tip that'll speed up your detail tremendously. Instead of vacuuming floor mats, use 1 part fabric softener to 10 parts water, spray it on the floor mats and use your drill brush. Trust me, you'll thank me.
@@djscott57 thank you 🙏 there were 2 cars - one express full detail, and another express full detail with shampoo and extraction so about 5-6 hours total
Jeff, I noticed on your website you offer paint correction and ceramic coating. As a mobile detailer do you use the clients garage for a controlled environment? I'm starting out as a mobile detailer and want to offer coatings as an upsell. Thanks and keep up the good work.
@@fullcontact76 yes, I just do it right there in their garage… if they don’t have a garage I also can have them drop off at my house and use my own personal garage as well
I'm pretty sure that the consensus are that the hose reels comes with low quality hoses the coxx and cen tech if you look really really closely you'll notice that the h20 place that builds all the Vans are using a brand called Mr. Nozzle as they offer a really high quality vacuum hose
My set up was built at H20 and their hoses melt just the same… those exhaust ports get super hot and are going to melt through any vacuum hose pretty quickly
@@Juicefree it wouldn’t really make sense to do that… you would need a 50ft hose with a 50ft steam line, the reel would be huge and take up way too much space.
Rookie mistake but u learn on hose and other things will happen just make sure have tools and tape and paper clip to clean your pressure washer nose sometimes clogs u can use paper clip to clean it out 👍🏻 u got this 3 year mark will prove u stay in biz or go do something else after that it just gets easier to get customers and stay in biz doesn’t mean issues happen but less and by all that learning u be like bam fixing mistakes fast and easy and like a normal day put a bungee string hold the hose up in the air. Make sure you leave a crack open on the windows, so hit air drys tell customers too if not it will stay wet and make the carpet smell bad then u be back cleaning it again fyi

Mytee just released a new mobile detailing extractor. I have the one you use. I don’t like how the switches are by the wheels the new model has them up top. And I’ve had the hot water line come unplugged while extracting and it’s hard to get it back on while the machines pressurized. I think the new model fixed some of that. That being said the 8070 works well and has made me some money for sure. It’s also on sale everywhere right now.
I hate when that line comes disconnected! That’s great they have w new updated model. I also wish they would make the drain hose more durable, it’s too easy for it to tear with that cheap plastic hose.

There's not too many options... a vacuum hose is going to be the least expensive of the 3 hoses/reels to replace so maybe that is their logic on it?
