Dark - Fantasy Music

- This song started out even darker, but got less dark as I worked on it, the name stuck though. Working on this song was a very experimental process, I pretty much rewrote it three times from ambient and floaty, to solo piano, to whatever strange combination it ended up being. It's very raw and unedited and at the same time very processed. It's such a strange beast. At one point I thought it would make a pretty decent metal tune, and after a while I almost considered making a hip-hop beat out of it. It's been a strange week.
The contrast is a bit funny, as next week we're going from this moody tune to pure Christmas joy and there's a slight possibility that one will be followed by a rather long and explosive celtic/orchestral epic metal tune I've been working on for ages. All of this while working on a collab with Skar. It's a pretty wild end of the year, and I'm having a lot of fun with everything!

it's fascinating how calming yet morose this is... like there's darkness, and it's scary... but also we welcome it. We welcome a bit of the unknown, a bit of the peace that comes with an area so utterly bleak that we don't have to think about anything else. We welcome the peace that comes with darkness, and being alone in said darkness.

@@Vindsveptdarkness can only be perceived as we perceive light. Both are sides of the same coin and so we wander out deep into the darkness where only light can await us

Awesome song! I know we have to go where the Muse takes us but sometime I hope you put out a track where you go as full-on dark and depressing as possible. I think the more melancholy tracks contrast nicely with your other songs that tend to be more light and upbeat.
Thank you! I have a really hard time writing really dark stuff, it just sounds so cliché when I do it, and it eventually just leans toward melancholy instead. I've tried every Halloween for years, and I'm not sure if I've succeeded even once :D
@@Vindsvept Personally, I think songs like "Enigma" "Night of the Wilds" and "Sacrifice" are some of your best and I'd say those are all relatively dark. Maybe it's just an issue of taste, I do tend to enjoy melancholic songs.
