- We take a look at the Zimbabwe Bird, a national emblem that appears on stamps, military uniforms and the flag. Then we examine the Mbira, a musical instrument, finally we discuss a little history about Zimbabwe when it was known as Rhodesia as well as the hyperinflation that occurred in 2007.
Check out these stamps on Snupps:www.snupps.com...
dope video, I'm Zimbabwean based in America. My history teacher introduced me to stamp collecting in primary school and I've been collecting since.

I remember so many as they brought back memories of events and a lots so pretty, pictures designed by so many artists. Most with our queens face in the corner, some with the face of Cecol John Rhudès comemorating his bis birth and death, his centenary and so much more. Many of the flora and fauna, each with it's own story to tell..

Hey Graham can I ask you a silly question??....Which app do you use for your thumbnails?
I am a little embarrassed to admit, I use 'Paint' ... the Apple version but still just simple old MS 'Paint'
Thank you Graham....I just started my own channel on youtube.....If you want you can check it 'The Bangerzz'
Nice work! keep it up, and I hope you get to enjoy making the videos as much as I have :)
Hahaha, I don't have any stamp from Zimbabwe, but I have that banknote! I had not realized that it had a bird! As always... learning with the stamps and Exploring Stamps.
Ah yes, this is a must have for the numismatic... the bank note is a special one to have, and that means you also know about the Zimbabwe bird on it, glad you found it interesting :)
Interestingly enough, I only saw this video today. I wrote a blog post about the illegal stamps of Rhodesia just last week. I will link to your video.
I actually have one of those "tumb pianos" too, but mine is made completely out of wood.
Learned a lot again from your video, thank you!
Still waiting for cats though. ;)
Hopefully you are better at playing the thumb piano then me! :D I learned a lot from making this video so thank you for watching! No cats yet :/
Thank you for the history lesson
You are very welcome Scott... it was a history lesson for me as well :)
Awesome :-)
I liked the presentation because it showed the name changes which occured over time. These African countries change there names quite a bit which I find makes it frustrating to look up the catalog values in Scot for many issues. Now the most recent one was Swaziland which changed its name to Eswatini. Why did this occur? I was unaware about the importance of their nation bird symbol. Thanks for the information.
Eswatini is basically a conversion of the English name Swaziland to the Swazi language. I think in general all of the name changes are a result of the slow recovery of sovereignty by the African peoples and reverting away from the names given by the colonial powers.
Name changes aren't uniquely African but also happen to countries on other continents.
Hey is that rice paper or some sort of protective paper over the sheets? Whats the name of that?
Hello, they are known as glassine interleaves. The books are stock books with the interleaves providing additional protection

@@ExploringStamps Do u have stamps for swap or sale
Hi Arun, I do not have anything for swap or sale at the moment. If you are looking to swap, I suggest looking to social media such as Instagram, there are a lot of stamp enthusiasts that look for swapping opportunities, you can follow the people that follow me and that I follow to get started. For purchasing, look at platforms such as eBay to buy Kiloware or specific stamps.
Are the Zimbabwe Birds, like the african Dragonballs? 🇿🇼🇯🇵 🤔
The Zimbabwe Bird represented the ruling king of the medieval Kingdom of Zimbabwe. It's a bateleur eagle, totemic symbol seen as the messenger/connection to Mwari (the supreme god in local mythology) as well as the ancestors.
@@ncubesays Oh I'm aware sir. It's just a silly joke
