I lived through all those presidencies and I will tell you, this is the truth. I worked 35 years to go from solid middle class to working poor. I’m past retirement age and I can’t stop working. My and my family’s quality of life and amount of finances decreased every time a Republican president took office. The best years for our income was during Clinton and Obama years. In fact, I could still say the harder I worked during Clinton years, I could still get ahead. When Obama was president, he inherited a horrible economy and he spent his term fixing all the Bush mistakes and trying to help us, but it was already too far gone. Now Biden has had to do the same thing and he’s done a great job considering what he was left with after Trump.
It's the same everywhere, not just the U.S. The next generation is really going to suffer, where I am in Canada, it takes 5× the median income to afford an average home. Good luck ever retiring.

Yes it is like hoping the crumbs fall down to us, trickle down. It's sad how difficult things have become in the present generation. I was wondering how to utilise some money I had. I used some of it for e-commerce business, but that sank. I'm thinking of how to use what's left to invest, but I don't really know which way to go.

Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2019, and I return at least $121k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.
I will be happy getting assistance and glad to get the help of one, but just how can one spot a reputable one?

Giving treasure to Big Government is a money laundering scheme.
The 2017 tax cuts and jobs act closed many loopholes. The time before carried interest can be used was extended effectively closing the loophole. It stopped multinational companies from avoiding taxes by deferring income. And it limited state and local tax deductions for the wealthy to 10,000, putting more money in the hands of local government.

1. Inflation is hurting them the most. Its true that unemployment is very low now. But when home heating oil was $1.91 a gallon on 1/17/21 and is $3.60 a gallon today and when the price of eggs and wheat have skyrocketed great employment figures don't help much.
2. The present administration has bungled crucial foreign policy situations from the withdrawal from Afghanistan to the war in Gaza.
3. People are no longer fooled when experts and educators try to twist facts to mislead them. Particularly when said educators post videos on UA-cam and fill the comment section with robots that say how great they are.

I am 42 years old and I cannot fathom why certain friends and colleagues of mine - who are the same age or older - refuse to notice how shitty the economy has been after every Republican president's term in my lifetime, especially when compared to the state of the economy after every Democratic President's term in my lifetime. Everyone needs to think like a scientist: don't let your biases and emotions and stubbornness guide you: pay attention to results and vote accordingly if you want things to get better.
The economy is "shitty" during republicans terms because they have to fix the democrats mistakes. Hard times fixes overheated economies. He also lowered lowered what can be itemized and what can be declared for independent contractors, so they ended up paying more in taxes. All this lead to 7+ trillion dollar deficit. In the firat 2 years.

Exactly the same situation in the UK. The Times just featured an article stating the economy grows more under labour the Conservatives. But it's all about perception. The media is owned by the same millionaires and billionaires corporations , that benefit from those give away tax cuts.

None of the politicians we've ever had have been good with Economic plans. Look where we are today. Most people know this countries economic, financial state, and the government itself has been on hospice and spending spree militarily for decades to satisfy corporate interests since 1871.
Honestly I felt like I did better under Republican presidents. The cost of living was lower (in my experience) and I felt like everyone around me was better off financially. What you're saying sounds logical, but past experiences suggest there's more to the story.
The final year of the last two Republican presidents were both the worst for the economy since 1929, when a Republican (Hoover) was also in charge. They said the 2008 financial crisis under Bush was a once-per-century disaster, but then it took Trump only three years to create a crisis that made 2008 look like no big deal. I can agree with you if only talking about the beginning of Republican administrations, before the damage was done.
@@bchristian85 I mean, was it because of what Trump did from 2017-2019? Or possibly because of being in the first year of a global pandemic? I don't know. Considering how things were going up to the day of covid, logic tells me it wasn't necessarily Trump's fault.
Now, I do blame trump for getting the spending way up in his final year, only to have it trickle over to Biden. Both having increased our debt a great deal leading to devaluing of the dollar. But to not at least acknowledge that Trump's last year had a major event is dishonest. Not a Trump fan by any means, but even in 2020, life was much cheaper for my US dollar than it is today. What the exact reasons may be can be debated.

I do agree with another poster here and state we do still need a cooldown in the markets, but it doesn’t have to be bad as many make it out to be. We managed to fight inflation a fair bit, but the market did still somewhat behave like a normal economic cycle and did a fair bit better than it could have.
But what Trump wants is a CRASH! That way, he can say “Oh, Joe Biden was responsible for the crash! He sucks and needs to be eradicated!” and his cult will then use that as motivation to go after Biden and other Democrats.

Robert Reich is a very smart, intuitive and educated person. I'd vote for him if it were possible. I've been following him for many years. Best to listen to him. Seriously.
I am from the deep south, I grew up around Republican voters, conservative voters, right-Libertarian types. Every Republican president & governor I have ever been under has done WORSE than Democrats. Does no one remember Kansas Governor Sam Brownback's tax cuts in 2013? It didn't work, the Kansas state budget had to be cut NINE times. Eventually, the Republican state legislature overpowered Brownback's veto and reversed the tax cuts. From 2013 to 2017, Kansas had among the worst economic growth in the United States. Same thing happened with Bobby Jindal in Louisiana, and now with Tate Reeves in Mississippi. The Republican fiscal policy of tax cuts simply do not grow the economy, period.
I remember the Great Recession of 2008. Bush really did ruin my childhood with his fiscal policy. Lots of birthdays and holidays where I got cheap gifts or nothing at all. We were poor because of Republican governments. I will never forget that. That's why I'll never vote Republican at any level. Even if it's not a partisan race, I won't vote for anyone who has a conservative world view. I'm not risking another recession.

For instance, the number of registered Independents matches the number of registered Republicans, and registered Democrats exceed both by millions. Registered Independents tend to vote Democratic by a margin of 2 to 1. So what does this tell you? With a high voter turnout, the Democratic candidate is almost guaranteed to win in most areas. Now, take that information and imagine a presidential election with 95% turnout in all 50 states. Who do you think would win?
Also, fun fact: In the 2022 midterms, Gen Z voted roughly 75% Democratic and only 20% Republican. They cancelled out the Boomer vote that year. Any Republican victories in 2022 were largely carried by Gen X.

I retired June of 2021 at 61 years old. My investments over the past two years have increased at a rate I didn't expect to see. I am very happy with the current state of the stock market. My wife and I don't eat extravagantly so our grocery bills have stayed in check. We sold our home 15 years ago and have rented an apartment ever since and travel. We couldn't be happier with the way Biden has handled things. Sure gas and groceries are a bit more but I feel that is to be expected.
The claim "Republicans are better for the economy" might be the biggest, most absurd lie of all. Never once in my life, or that of my fathers or grandfathers, has this been true.
The only lies are the ones fed to you by people like Reich. It's a fact tax cuts stimulate the economy and create jobs. If told you cutting taxes for the working class boosts the economy you would probably believe it, the exact same logic can and is applied to businesses.

Economy aside how is voting blue working out for Oregon.
The legalized all recreational drugs. Thousands of addicts have now moved into their state to enjoy the freedom of public use of drugs. The homelessness as expanded from cities to small towns. They crowd the parks and most all public places. Two small towns in southern Oregon are so overwhelmed with the homeless drug addicts that people won’t go to a public park. Many are moving out of the state.
We lived in Southern Oregon for 25 years and would like to retire there. Not an option at this point.

There are solid economic reasons why funding the poor does more for the economy than funding the rich. The money is more likely to be spent rather than saved, more likely to be spent locally where it contributes to the economy rather than going overseas on luxury goods, and more likely to be spent on things like education and food that actually boost worker productivity. The only people who believe tax cuts to the rich is an effective economic strategy are the rich.
I believe there have been studies on the "trickle down" effect and found it's minimal or nonexistent - or in some cases even operates in reverse. Why spend your windfall on paying your workers more when you get to keep more of every dollar you're choosing not to pay them?
