@@laflador_7691 lithium needs a BMS to prevent over charging and over discharging. Over discharging sodium is not a concern, you can drain it to 0v with no damage. As long as your charge source can't bring it over the maximum voltage, no reason to be concerned about over charging. No need for bms. Do need an active balancer though
Nice work 👍 I wonder if it's not better to have a dedicated 8s balancer? Surely if you try to use 2 or 3 small ones in series, each would only manage the cells it's connected to, without any coordination between the groups. This could lead to an imbalance between those two or three sections of the pack. Or are you modifying them somehow?
I love watching your shed projects continue to evolve. Can I get a link for that 5v ultracap spot welding board kit? I've got a couple Maxwell ultracaps that I'd like to put to work like that.
Thanks for sharing Julian! The specs on these batteries are really impressive. Did you happen to test if they meet the advertised capacity and discharge rate? I looked at your backlog, but I probably missed it. Please link the video if you did. Best regards!
Nice battery pack.
Congrats on 200K 👍
Congrats on 200k subs.
Hey yeah, thanks :)
I believe these are the answer to replacing lead acid batteries. the voltage range works at 4s, no need for bms, high enough current capacity
Why no need for bms ?

I've added a link to the spot welder in the description :)
Do you still stand by that spot welder? I am about to buy a setup and that one keeps coming up.

Not yet :)
At one point you were welding with one probe on the battery and then latter with both probes on the strips. Doesn't this change the weld?
The video is only 11:49 - I think there would have been time to say negativ and positiv instead of neg and pos (or "pause" as you said it)
or even negative and positive ;)
@@JulianIlett I dont want to ask for too much.
Can you do a video on crypto currency? What is crypto currency mining? Is it only cost effective if you do it with 'free' solar power?
