What is an ATS and AMF panel? When to use them?
Both panels restore electricity in your building in case of a power outage.
The first difference between AMF and ATS panels is how to connect the load.
An AMF panel features contactors with mechanical interlock, and the ATS panel features a motorized switch.
Contactors are capable of granular control over your LOAD. But contactors, over 100kVA, are expensive. For this reason the name Mains Failure Panel, The AMF panel is optimized to serve the load in a certain way.
An ATS panel features a motorized transfer switch. This is a cost-effective solution for high-power applications but the functionality is limited. When high power is involved, this is not an issue.
When your application is critical and powerful you may use the following configuration.
A high-power ATS panel controls the generator and 2 or 3 small AMF panels protect your critical loads.
The panels communicate with each other via isolated RS485.
Let's see the inside of an AMF panel
You can see the interface board, a battery charger, current transformers, contactors, circuit breakers, terminal blocks for the generator, mains, and load.
Bernini Design offers long-term reliability because we put the controller on the door's external side, which is the most powerful shield.
Secondly, we use a universal interface board. You can connect any kind of generator and engine with keystart.
