They have already said groups that are original will be classified differently than groups that have fresh accounts added. If they aren't original, then they won't be worth looking at the hiscores. People who don't care about hiscores will also not care about these accounts, they just want to have fun with their friends.
Group Ironman is already going to be 1 person on multiple accounts regardless of a client. Most will be a group of 1-2 actual players with 2-3 alternate accounts so that the main account can do content and not have to fish/cook food or farm/potion make it saves time all around this was my thoughts about it years ago when it was supposed to be released. Doing this deletes the need to rely on other players that will get bored (due to osrs being boring long term making a new account to do 5000 hours of grinding) and you can play your self.
This was a really big thing in most of Classic WoW. Was allowed for a long time before being changed to more like OSRS is. Glad OSRS is stopping this before it gets too far. Made WoW pay to win if you had half a brain on PvP servers.
There's a very simple way to deal with most group ironman issues. Do not give them ironman hiscores at all and don't give them a regular grey helm, even after leaving the group. Simply removing competition and comparison to regular ironman removes just about every issue of it. If they can only be guaranteed the same legitimacy as a regular non-ironman account, treating them as such will fix abuse, while leaving people the gameplay experience of the new mode.

The only way to get rid of cheat clients is to kill vanilla OSRS client (because it's laughably outdated, for example it still does 3d rendering on the CPU instead of using GPU, like WTF?), make a new, better one that fits modern OSRS player needs (aping RuneLite would be a great fit) and then ban any third party clients. But obviously Jagex doesn't have balls nor skill to pull this off.

As a WoW player, it's interesting to see another game in the genre take such a hard stance against multiboxing. It's always controversial in WoW's community, but nonetheless it isn't against the rules so there's always tons of people there to defend it when people complain. Blizzard didn't even make any attempts to limit it in areas where it mattered for like... 12+ years, and nothing that really mattered until like last year (banning most of the easy to use software people used, but not the "playstyle" itself). Nice to see Jagex actually considers it to be cheating. I know it's probably more important here since the game is more economy driven, but still. Nice.
The problem with this is the more accounts that you do this with the more likely theyre all going to be flagged as bots since theyre peforming the exact same actions, at the exact same time, all the time.
I can only imagine how crazy this could be at corp, just a huge amount of low levels dark bow bombing corp, wouldn’t take long to do and could make stupid GP
never multiboxed in RS, but in WoW i did for a while when Blizzard more or less turned a blind eye to it and allowed it. My reasons were I use to do defensive world pvp, defensive meaning, i would protect the low level towns with my friends from griefers and such.. but month afteer month, while my determination and fun never really went away, cant say the same for my friends or randoms who'd team up with me to attack invaders, go to the point where some days it was me versus anyone who came, which unfortunately was sometimes more than 1 individual, or a healing class, which I couldn't kill on my own. So multiboxing for me changed this, I didn't have to rely on others who'd rather do other things, no begging or attacking their morality. So I just one day decided to look into multiboxing seriously after seeing others do it here and there in-world, and I downloaded the software, set it up, just simply created 4 more accounts and had a full 5 man party that i controlled to go around to protect the low level areas, and it worked for most part, griefers when they see they are up against a multiboxer would decide to just give up and leave, but it wasn't always sunshine and roses for me, on the flipside, some who when they see a multiboxer (if they have friends or an interested guild), will form their own parties or raid to come kill the multiboxer and stomp the low level town, which in turn when word spreads there's a while raid in a low level area, gets others excited who come join the fight to push out the raid.. lol aside from these counter raids and massive battles.. multiboxing for me, allowed me to go against formible threats which class balance fell short and i couldnt handle even if i was at top of my game, or small parties of griefers on my own. Also multiboxing came in handy for soloing content which you otherwise can't, so no needing to find interested friends or randoms, or wait around or schedule a date, etc.. can just go do the content anytime you wanted. also often you're doing this old content for transmogs, or certain drops, so having 5 characters all connected to your single account, that's 5x the chances to get the drop you were after, especially back when Blizzard made drops in wow all personal loot rather than group or group leader loot.
10:26 "multi boxing is a new and niche technology when it comes to runescape". Absolutely false, multiboxing has been common in training accounts for sale for years and years. this is not a new method at all, a large amount of pre-trained irons are done by Venezuelans multiboxing at wintertodt
As far as I was able to find, there's only two multiboxing clients in existence. Both of which are a few years old. The synchronization features are also really new. I probably should've worded the last section a little differently.
@@ColonelloRS I'm not involved with account selling personally so I can't speak from first hand experience on how the clients work, but from the people I know who are involved, multiboxing has been around for a while. AFAIK, its done through virtual machines duplicating action or bot clients that mirror a user input. It's not used often because the accounts get flagged and banned very quickly (quicker than straight botted accounts). The sellers I know of only sell accounts that are hand trained, as its cheaper to pay Venezuelans to play 3 accounts at a time than to risk the account getting banned for botting after the customer has bought it. The client you show is definitely new though, I didn't mean to word my first comment so aggressively. Love the vids man
I was wondering what this mirror client was called. I pked with a kid who used it, He was fire waving on 7 accounts at once. Imagine how efficiently You could ruin kids in multi. Even if you are a below average hybridder, if You are on 5 accounts at once, ur gonna drop people
Cant forget that if you invite new ppl to a pre existing group, they can't use certain stuff till they get the required lvls, like 85 slay for whip ect
What happens if there are three of the four accounts botting an easy resource and become banned, but they bank all of the farmed resources. Does the solo legit player keep everything?
multi boxing is like a decade old and I personally seen people in the old rev caves with it having 4-7 balista pures. That was 2 years ago.... It has been around longer then you think.
I get the idea of "gaining an advantage," but besides highscores, does this really affect anything? The "Integrity of the highscores" is a joke already lol, look at top 200 zulrah kills and tell me how many bots you find.
I believe it'll display if the group has all its original members with some sort of symbol. But even so, I'm sure there'll be a lot of groups without their original members who want high score rankings legitimately.
This seems like it would be kinda fun to try though. I don't understand how you could possibly get caught. If you make all of your accounts look different, with different names and train all of your combat at nmz or something, basically so long as you're not flaunting all of your accounts at the same spot it seems nearly impossible to catch people.
Just signed up to express VPN with your code, I was sent a link in discord then got ddosed while I was pking and lost my volatile staff along with about 20m in other gear. Luckily my IP is dynamic so I’ve had it changed since but It’s way too risky. Hopefully I can just set it so it only runs on browsers. I was going to purchase the one my Antivirus software provides as an add on but I love your content so I thought I’d purchase this one instead to show my support for your channel (and it was $30 cheaper 😄)
I feel like this wont have any effect on GIM tbh, and if there is some small issue its probably because someone watched your video and realized they could either buy the account or buy this software.
I see your point, but I personally believe this video will do more good than harm. Prior to researching I had seen multiboxers, but had no idea what I was looking at. Now I know what to look for and report them. I kept an eye on the client's discord for a few weeks after the release of this video and didn't notice much of an uptick in activity. 99% of the people that watched this video didn't try the client.
With the intro's information; you could absolutely destroy the botting community by implementing a log out feature if you have more than 3 accounts logged into a single IP.
I was aware of this headstart risk months and months ago but nobody cared when I told it - in reddit. That was my mistake. But luckily pristine group never can use kick-away accounts since the group size nor members cannot change, ever. But this omen reflects non-pristine groups heavily, that's for sure. Thanks for the video, and thanks for adressing this issue beforehand. You have more power than I ever do in OSRS. 👍🏻
Its not viable long term, approximately 1 year ago I created the same thing to test bans in oldschool and I got flagged after 2 weeks of playtime on 6 accounts. All accounts, including the one I was actually playing on, got banned.
Isn't the anit-bot software they run able to not only detect bots, but also the exact identity of whoever is behind the computer? That's what I heard at least. If you for instance play on your account in, say, Japan, and then go to UK and log into a completely different account, it only takes a short while for the anti-bot software to ascertain that it is in fact the same player that had an account in Japan. With multiboxing, this will be even more obvious, as they can detect that one player is playing on multiple accounts at once, and triggering the algorithm in the exact same way every click. That's bound to get your accounts banned really fast.
Ban multi boxing Software. it's not fair, and to think its 1 master mind behind "10" if not thousands of accounts just playing 1 account... image it at Nightmare, resource gathering the list goes on... This will ruin the economy, it just SCREAMS market crash. it makes 1 person 10 different people... Why play an MMORPG when you can play it alone with clones and make 10x more without the hiccups? This is a major exploit, and shouldn't be treated as a feature.
Group ironman seems like a pretty stupid idea in general. It will be good streamer content for a while before they get bored of it. I don't see normal players enjoying this game mode as much as they think they will. Imagine your "friend" decides he wants to grief your shared bank by dropping all of your stuff.
If jagex adapt there technology so if accounts are doing the exact same thing within the same area accounts should be suspended until review this would completely patch multi boxing. But jagex seem to slack when it comes to updating security.
I thought of this idea like 15 years ago when I was a little kid playing Runescape. This isn't very smart and there's no way in hell it hasn't been done before. Not only that, this would be extremely easy for Jagex to detect because there will be no variation in actions between the accounts so I'm certain it will be a huge red flag.
I'm convinced jagex allows bots and cheating in the game so that prices of botted items stay low. Think about it from their perspective. They need people to keep playing and buying membership. New players might quit if they cant afford to train the skills these botted items keep the price down for. I dont believe that jagex cant control the bots. I think they allow a certain amount of them
Unfortunately that happens sometimes. I blurred everything as best I could and tried to dis-suede people from trying it. My goal is to both provide entertainment and bring awareness to this problem. The majority of people will now know how to spot a multiboxer and report them, while the minority will actually use the software. Again, for anyone reading this comment, if you break the rules you will get banned. Its not worth it! :)

4:10 lmfao, I bet that guy just laughed his ass off.
multiboxing used to be a huuuuuuugeeeeeeee issue in realm of the mad god. its interesting to see it now affecting osrs
Yo rotmg!
@@ColonelloRS Multiboxing has been used for years in more private instances than public. It's a thing, has been, always will be.
Good point! I forgot to consider private clients.
Even if you are a below average hybridder, if You are on 5 accounts at once, ur gonna drop people
the collection log is not going well for me. ill update you guys in the discord if something interesting happens
Sorry to hear that! Hopefully you get some RNG soon :)
@@ColonelloRS thanks
It's like when osrs learn what's been happening in wow for 15 years
What is name of video at 7:20. I remember watching that clan war like a decade ago on UA-cam. Could never find it but pretty sure that’s it
Heres the link :) ua-cam.com/video/8n__-x9M448/v-deo.html
Thanks man
I kind of wish there were "anything goes" worlds where cheating was allowed but they were in their own separate environment.
I'd love some sort of test world like that. Would be cool to see what happens. :)
Depends
.. if its small enough you might get away with it. But too big and jagex goes after trading history and also for the "mule" aswell
"not meant to be a promotion" explains how the client blew his mind.
Conspiracy theories blow my mind too, but it doesn't mean I believe them :)
After binging your videos right before considering playing this game again and buying a bond on my main, I gotta say fuck no.
This is the first time I have ever herd someone pronounce the Corporeal Beast correctly.
multi boxing is like a decade old and I personally seen people in the old rev caves with it having 4-7 balista pures. That was 2 years ago.... It has been around longer then you think.
I get the idea of "gaining an advantage," but besides highscores, does this really affect anything? The "Integrity of the highscores" is a joke already lol, look at top 200 zulrah kills and tell me how many bots you find.
i like that wow was shown here even tho its ok to multibox in wow
What I took from it people leaving and joining your group hurts you on the HS, so this doesn't seem like a big problem for GIM to me.
I believe it'll display if the group has all its original members with some sort of symbol. But even so, I'm sure there'll be a lot of groups without their original members who want high score rankings legitimately.
Program has been around for awhile. I used it back in 2014. Used with RuneScape then moved over to WoW .
brooo that bibbleboy clip and song victorious one got me into pkingg
This seems like it would be kinda fun to try though. I don't understand how you could possibly get caught. If you make all of your accounts look different, with different names and train all of your combat at nmz or something, basically so long as you're not flaunting all of your accounts at the same spot it seems nearly impossible to catch people.
Bro THE EDITS on this video though!
Thank you!! :D
Correction: if you break runescape rules you MIGHT get banned. It's a hit or miss.
Colonel look: Corporial Beast
Me: It’s wasn’t Corporal??
Thought it was something I should care about until I saw "Ironman." Phew, it's nothing.
Yeahhh boy. When I see that notification, I click.
Thank you so much! Sorry to hear you got ddosed, glad to hear that it won’t happen again at least.
Yeah because let's be real. Who the fuck is using more than 3 accounts simultaneously?
“People will report you for not talking back”
Man I’ll report someone for planking at cox
I feel like these are easy to detect. 30 accounts doing the exact same action at the same time?
xecept,a ll 30 cuold all be in a different world, 30 different worlds...
@@jawstrock2215 Automated account watcher probably doesn't care about worlds
@@jphamlett the point it, it wouldn't be that easy to detect if so.
8 people using the 250 account option could dupe/crash world then?
Group ironman is going to open up a whole new world of pvp accounts.
They are making it so group ironmen accounts gain combat xp in PvP just not the full amount
I can give you a 100% guarantee that this guy is under 20 years old. So its pretty impressive that he made this
This probably has higher banrates than botting. It would be so easy for jagex to detect them like so easy
@colonello I have expressVPN also and I got host ban from a private server ? How is that possible? How do you get around a host ban? Proxies???
Isn't the anit-bot software they run able to not only detect bots, but also the exact identity of whoever is behind the computer? That's what I heard at least. If you for instance play on your account in, say, Japan, and then go to UK and log into a completely different account, it only takes a short while for the anti-bot software to ascertain that it is in fact the same player that had an account in Japan. With multiboxing, this will be even more obvious, as they can detect that one player is playing on multiple accounts at once, and triggering the algorithm in the exact same way every click. That's bound to get your accounts banned really fast.
I seen this getting used toad on the new raid weapons trail servers. Couldn't work out what was happening at the time
Didn't they say groups that have members outside their original group would have separate hiscorses?
wasnt there one guy who used to do corp like this, with 5 accounts or so? and got banend for that, probably 1 year ago
cant they just log the accounts all into different worlds....? its not like they HAVE to march through the g.e with 15 synced accs..?
Maybe don't be friends with people unhinged enough to do something stupid like that?
but the vpn's isp can still see what you do ;)
If jagex adapt there technology so if accounts are doing the exact same thing within the same area accounts should be suspended until review this would completely patch multi boxing. But jagex seem to slack when it comes to updating security.
hey man my account just got hacked and i they sent me photos of them getting 7 defence and dropping my fire cape in anyway could you help me
I thought of this idea like 15 years ago when I was a little kid playing Runescape.
I think they allow a certain amount of them
Been about for years, used to be £50 a year for up to 100 clients
Link those bots scripts/clients too really useful information.
tbh youre basically advertising multiboxing. the guy prob reached out to you so people would be interested in his client
@@ColonelloRS i guess thats true. keep up the great content!
love the ban evasion advert
