In POE2, armor applied to elements is before resists, so Blackbraid and Heatproofing are pretty bad unless you are stacking heinous amounts of armor, especially since elemental hits are generally significantly larger than physical hits.
Yeah either way to use Blackbraid you need a ridiculous amount of armour I agree. Elemental hits are always going to be way bigger than phys, the problem with the item too is it just doesn't give any armour so getting insane amounts of armour feels impossible since the body armour is the best in slot piece for it lol.
@@everseenTV Yeah losing your biggest armor contributor for it definitely makes it a lot harder lol. Hopefully they adjust the ordering at some point, Blackbraid is whatever but having 4 nodes (Heatproofing and path) on the tree that are basically bait is insane.
@@SIERRA-ALPHA-DELTA yeah usually you'd want that but if it's applied to full damage then it's definitely not as good. Did you see that armour is applied to damage before resistances from the wiki or where did that information come from?
@@everseenTV Kripp has a video where he is discussing a reddit post where someone tested Heatrpoofing and Blackbraid, I tried linking the video but I think my comment got deleted because of the link. It is in his Armor Saga Part 3 video and the reddit thread is in the description.
my issue with poe rn is that there isnt many deffensive layers that actually mitigate damage, rathar than just throwing it away or giving you massive ES shield. ES scales super well, you can easy get 10.20k and 40k with grim feast. Evasion is also really good, you can get 70% with acrobatics quite easily. Armor is bad rn but you can also scale quite alot of it. You can even go hybrids on both which is what im doing. Health is kinda meh, theres none on tree. MoM is great. But at the end of the day, ES is just big number shield that doesnt reduce dmg. EV just lets me avoid damage all together and doesnt mitigate any hits that do land. Long story short if you do get hit, you still can get hit for 10k. ive died several times with like 15k ES and 60EV to just onetaps. Otherwise im running around full ES like a god. Feels like just dont get hit is the best deffense.
yeah, with EV you either don't get hit and enjoy the experience or get one shotted which makes ranger types pretty annoying for longer play sessions. No amount of variations exist that are much different: you either do huge block and carry a shield or you go mass into ES these are the only realistic options for sustainable non-squish. Obviously this feels really restrictive, essentially making most classes basically compressed into the same hybrid version regardless of ascend or any other aspiration. You have to full on invest in doing a full tree wrap around to get ES/MOM in most cases
It's true man, that's like what I was saying is that I don't like how its avoid avoid avoid and then bam a 1 shot. I'm sure they will add better defensive capabilities in the game just like they did with POE1. It's just going to take time to get those crazy divine flesh and fourth vow combinations. I really do think defensively POE1 is wayyyyyyyy more advanced than POE2 currently. Some very core issues going on with POE2 atm
How to stop dying. 1. make energy shield your main defense, 2 cap your resistances. 3. See 1. I have acrobatics on my ranger with 74% evade and its nice ... till you get hit. lol
Ice Wall is a very underrated defense skill. I play a 5-6 div AoE stacker archmage that relies on the overap of both icewall explosions and frostbolt with snakepit ring (cannot pierce, but fork). I clear the trialmaster in around 3 seconds, and in tier 15's nothing can even touch me. Most initial attacks and projectiles are simply blocked by the wall
@@-_-5052 it's true! Serves as both defence and offense really. Since your own projectiles can shotgun off the frost wall. Definitely a skill that is underrated, but some of the best builds right now are using it
@@collapsiblechair9112 yeah freeze is such a nice thing for defence. I'm playing shattering concoction Pathfinder now in HCSSF and it's just so perfect to freeze everything instantly
@@jordankilpatrick It does, and its a really heavy load on the processor. I have the dynamic culling enabled and it sometimes removes some frostbolts entirely, leaving only the trail of chilling ground visible
I use full-evasion body armor with 2500+ evasion raiting + Spectral Ward and a full-energy shield helmet + Subterfuge Mask . With acrobatics I have 12k evasion (81% chance of dodging). It works phenomenally well.
I got mine upto 77% now and I just did the 4 floor Sekhemas, I lost 190 honour on floor 1 to 3 4th floor acrobatics failed and RIP. lol Admittedly I don't have ES on my mask and the evasion on my body armour is only 1900 ish.
@ damn lol, yeah that 4th floor is pretty brutal until you get tons of damage and learn the layouts. I love farming trials it gives great jewels and gear
@ I was a little disappointed in the investment in HP - there are a lot of investments and little profit. I want to try switch to CI, replace the body armor with a ES+EV. I currently have 2100 HP+ 2100 ES (4200 with meditate)
@@everseenTV just finish my second 4th floor to get the 4th asen for my WH. what farming great jewel and gear do you think is better in trial than map? tx
Great vid. I would love to watch a video about how to survive early mapping. I've reached HCSSF maps with 3 chars but got crushed immediately in T1-3 maps every time. What endgame content to avoid, safe map crafting, one shot sources etc.
In short when you hit maps you need to actually get resists. Make sure your weapon is suitable for your level. Aim for 1800 health or more When in doubt put the helmet on he suggested the atzidi plus get grim feast Basically took me to t13s. When you reach t16 with +2 modifier to enemy so level 82 enemies you need chaos at 50% plus max resists, ideally 2k health, and as much energy shield as you can do with grim feast. Even that I die if I’m not paying attention.
how do you get ES recovery in boss fights when there are no adds for grim-whatsitcalled aura? also what anout when the whole floor is burning and all i can do is enjoy watching my ES drop to the ground? loved the video
The strongest thing about grim feast is that it scales with minion level (but won’t take the minion level support gem for some reason). So on my minion build i get like 500 ES for each soul.
I know right, someone else actually commented this same thing and I never realized it scaled. That's actually so broken no wonder infernalist is immune while mapping lol
@ just logged in, i got +7 minion level from my equipment and on a 19 lvl grim feast, thats 596 energy shield per soul. The last level gave me something like 70 es per soul more so i can probably get over 800 es per soul
Cool video. Good info. However, seeing the title of the video, I came to see because I was honestly kind of hoping someone made a great troll video, "How to STOP Dying in Path of Exile 2!", 13:53 time amount. Guy on screen coughs to clear his throat, greets everyone, seems very clear-headed, about to give some serious tips, has a small stack of notes in front of him, says, "How to stop dying in Path of Exile 2..." picks up the papers, clears throat one last time, looks directly into the camera... "Git Gud. Thank you for watching." Then ~13 minutes of black screen and elevator music.
I'm level 77 and have been using ghostwrithe since level 10 when I found it. I've been wondering if and when I need to swap it out for awhile now. Great vid man!
@@everseenTV I'm just glad ghostwrithe uses the max life value BEFORE CI takes it down to 1. I would honestly drop CI though if ghostwrithe had a 25% conversion instead of 50%
@@everseenTVApparently this item is extremely good when you look at Infernalist demon form builds that try to stack up to like 200 demonflame. It’s not possible to stack as high without the armor since you need your max hp as low as possible so the percent hp loss is easy to regain. Made me kinda not wanna even try that build cuz i like stacking hp haha
Someone else was just talking about this same thing! I can definitely see how it's useful for that, and just stacking a ton of ES instead. I'm sure you get ridiculous damage on some of those builds though from doing that
The award for inventing the most idiotic death mechanics in an ARPG game goes to: GGG - for creating drowning hag. Lets give all a round of applause to GGG!
Correct me if im wrong but Aziri's Disdain does not work with CI. CI gives you 1 life and if something should pass energy shiled, you are dead. Found the helm, tried it with my monk and died to regular mobs immidiately. Gave up further testing since it felt kind of obvious if i rode the description of the helm again. Im sure it works fine in hybrid builds where you use both, life and ES.
Demon Form grants the following: Shapeshift Form (Loses Weapons) +25% Cast Speed +6 Level to All Spells Gain 1 Stack of "Demonflame" per Second Lose 0.5% of (Max) Life per Second per Demonflame Deal 18% increased Spell Damage per Demonflame So the more stacks you have the more damage you deal, as your losing health you have to get life regen per sec on your helmet, amulet and boots to mitigate the health loss from demonflame aswell as having life regen rate on your jewels, aslong as your life regen is over your max health you can do decent damage the longer your out of demon form when health starts to go down fast and your health goes to 0 you just go back to normal
Thanks for that man, I get it now. You'd want lower health to better sustain the stacks. A friend of mine is playing something similar with Original Sin and stacking tons of spell damage from the demon form the Demon Flames. Sounds interesting I might give that a shot it seemed really fun at first glance in the trailer. Also looks fast. Probably won't try in HC xD
One of the monk’s ascendency is splitting evasion rating into half armor , what’s your opinion on that ? I am a new player and I quite enjoy that lower evasion but some armour to survive when things go rough
@@JerameyDang it's really good I used it on my invoker and still am at 96 really. I prefer the cushion for when I don't evade things. You can also ignore armour break because you get the full benefits of physical damage reduction without technically any armour. I would go acrobatics I just don't have enough evasion
Totem Titan here, I was lucky and found a perfectly rolled Mastercrafted Steel Armor with 2.4% Life reg. I'm currently at over 500 Life per sec and fly through Maps
its easy to find good rings on the marketplace with % life regen as corruption enchantment. I'm a gas grenade gemling with both armor and evasion (60% armor and 80% evasion), capped resistances and 1200 hp regen with 5k hp. My dmg is far from crazy (40k gas explosion) but feels good to play 99% of the game (buffed pinnacle bosses are my only kryptonite). edit: I also want to add that I use my life as mana, which lets me use lvl 31 grenades
@ I avoid the AH because it would help a lot, but for me the "carrot on a stick" of finding something better is more important (and I thought my warrior with 3.1k was already doing well..5k Dude😲)
You can also get a corrupted Svalin that gives you 25 Life on block so combined with passives you can get almost 60 life per block. So with 60% block which is around (1 - 0.4*0.4) = 84% block you are basically invincible against small hits from map mobs.
Yep, I'm running a ranger with extremely high evasion little bit of energy shield, wind dancer and ghost dance and about 60 to 75% on my resistances. Clearing juiced t15s.
Is there a certain level of evasion you need before acrobatics is worth it? I have 77% evasion without acrobatics and I can't really tell if my survivability is better with acrobatics or without.
You'll need more evasion for sure. It takes a ton of evasion probably 20-25k or more to feel good. Just take the passive point and see then unspec it if your evasion is below 70%
Level 90 Stormbreaker here, all res 70+, Mind Over Matter, Eldritch Battery w/ Everlasting Gaze, Chaos Innoculation, 4k ES, 5k mana, spark 50k DPS, and still keep getting killed by bosses (Breach Hoss T2, Pinnacle Bosses, and so on), some of them killing me with hk strikes. I don't know what to do anymore. It's getting frustating to evolve past lvl 90 losing 10% of exp each time you die.
Yeah unfortunately bosses are very unforgiving and Xesht especially has a lot of one shot mechanics. I would totally just focus on getting better at dodging them, there's not much you can do to mitigate except physical damage reduction which is hard to get on that type of character
Yes, it's a pain)) Acrobatics is the answer to most poe2 questions. And of course, the mechanics of complete incapacity - freeze, electrocute. The best defense is when the boss doesn't do anything or dies in 2 seconds))))
oh my god I didn't even know this that's insane! I've been playing non minion builds so haven't even realized that's how it works. That's actually so broken lmao
after 600 hours of poe2 and maybe 10% of that watching youtube, i learnt more about this that i didnt know than i have watching most other things repeating the same stuff other creators have already glossed over. i am starting to understand why i died so often with my monk and had such a long and grueling journey to t15 maps. i didnt do much in the way of build guides except for skill tree and skill gems leading up to it. during the campaign i kept asking myself if i should be pure evasion, ev/es or ev/armour. I got to t15 maps and still didnt have an answer to that question so my build was a weird mix of everything having around 2.2k life and 1.3k es. I died a lot but my damage was great and its a lot of fun once you get flicker strike and double heralds working :D
not bad man, glad I could at least not repeat stuff for you haha. Yeah it's important to really give your build an identity before you get to the endgame. Especially something that can scale otherwise it becomes a bit of a mess either with damage or defense :)
I knew all this stuff but I still die every time I try a t14 map. At this point I'm guessing I need better gear, but anything better than what I already have costs at least 2 divs. I still havent even seen a single div drop yet.
@@Android811 you should be able to get to t15 with 50-100ex gear pieces no problem. Also raw div drops are pretty rare so i wouldnt hold my breath for one, but you generally make your divs by selling all the other stuff that drops anyway
the trials of sekhema is a really good spot to farm gear honestly man. That's where I get a lot of my gear, once you get decent damage and relics it's really easy content
hey man I would definitely go that, it's really good to use this before you decide to go acrobatics in the endgame. Try to have 70%+ evasion with and protect me from harm on. It'll give you a decent amount of physical damage reduction too! :)
I would definitely drop and protect me from harm when you finally go acrobatics and would probably get more. You want at least 70-80% chance to avoid with Acrobatics on for it to feel good imo and no worries!
You talk about Atziri's Distain while showing a build using Chaos Inoculation. This is instant death. Missed the part where you said it should be used with a life/ES build :(
mmm yes definitely, it should be common knowledge now to not use it with chaos innoculation or the mana flask that takes life but I definitely should have mentioned both of those. I've talked about this before in a separate video and sometimes it's hard to think about repeating some info haha. However, I did state at the start of my statement that it is great for energy shield hybrid builds
Although far from exhaustive these tips are useful. Hopefully GGG reduces the amount of ES characters can get and have it more in line with life. It should be a shield rather than an alternative to life. Which is why I would've liked it if GGG had removed CI or at least modified it.
yeah CI is just so broken in POE1 that I'm surprised that they kept it. It's really just the powercreep of ES scaling that has made CI broken. If you could only have a small pool of ES it would make it more fair. Really hope they don't just gut ES and more so buff other things to be more in line with it.
Grim Feast is weird. It works wonders on stronger and endgame builds, but if you use it as soon as you get it, then it feels broken. First, you don't do enough damage (no instant one-shots of whole groups of enemies), so you are loosing ES, so the chance to get overflow is minimal. Additionally, when you colloect grim remnants, nothing really happens. If your ES is not full, it doesn't give you instant ES and probably it stacks with ES delayed recovery. I'm not sure if that starts working differently later, hard to observe this in heat of the battle. But I suspect with endgame characters it works like this: you kill so much of mobs at once and get so many grim feasts, that when ES regen starts, it's stacked and feels like instant ES recovery, but it's not.
@@everseenTV In my experience it does not, at least low lvl. It was my frustration with my first character, what does this skill really do? I was picking remnants after fight, before my ES started to regen and nothing. It felt and looked like Grim Geast was not working at all. I observed the same with some other low lvl character. Later in the game, I didn't pay attention that closely to it, but then it worked so well, often doubling my ES, so I didn't need to check it.
@@michadybczak4862 I think there's a bug where you visually see remnants but they seem to have expired and don't grant anything. I don't know if there's a timer on them for how long they can be consumed or if the visual bugs occurs for other reasons (they never should've appeared in first place). This is the only time where I "picked up" remnants and nothing happened. Other than that, it does apply to your ES immediately
@@MitchJ16388 This is possible. During battle I don't have time to observe it in details, but when it's safe, this 4s after, it is very possible that those remnants expire and do nothing, although it looks as if I gathered them.
@ I haven't figured out how dance works yet. I tried to check - I doubled ES and stood under the blows.

The easiest way is to stop playing. Then all the punishment for no reason stops and you can play a good ARPG that doesnt penalize you for playing. The issue is not dying, its also living since they randomize the waystone drops. Meaning you can complete a map and still dont get the key needed to continue running content at your level. They make you grind low level content with no chance of ever getting anything and if you die during it, you lose far more experience than you would ever gain, so just another punishment. I dont care about dying, I expect it in an ARPG. If you are not dying at least once a day, you are hardly playing an ARGP. You are just melting screens of mobs in a strange power fantasy. to each their own but games should challenge a person, not make you look challenged
Your issue is waystone sustain you're saying then? You need to invest into it on the Atlas passive tree at first, but yes POE2 doesn't really feel rewarding for the amount of time needing to be spent. It's basically just Ruthless mode from POE1 and that definitely didn't value your time either
Ghostwrithe is not working like Atziri's Distain. Ghoswrithe basically takes 50% of your life and adds it to ES. Since ES is regenerating faster by itself (although with delay), it is still a good trade, although a tricky one. 50% life less is dangerous with poison or bleed, so you need to have life leech or life on kill, at least later in the game. Atziri's Distain doesn't take any HP, but adds ES, or at least I didn't notice any huge HP change, only huge ES gain. I need to check again.
mmm yeah after I read some comments I realized I misinterpreted the item. Thought they both had the same effect of just adding ES. Definitely makes it worse than atziris if you lose health tho
@@everseenTV Yeah, although low lvl it still helps. ES regen is way better than Life, so it's worth it. I used it one of my character, and was afraid I will have some issues, because of lower HP, but no, it felt good, like improvement. I've seen others using it in the endgame, so this armor does have a merit, but is not OP. Atziri's is awesome on a Blood Mage, when every spell hit heals (life leech) by a lot. But I think it excludes the possibility to take Chaos Inoculation, so for some builds this will be a big no-no. Still, on my Hexblast Blood Mage, Atziri's is awesome item.
Resistance is bugged at higher lvls. The pure element attacks do enough damage 20 times over to one shot you. Even with 90% res cap you will still be one shotted by those elements
Hmm I haven't really seen any of the numbers for elemental hits, but I definitely believe this. Mobs do generally feel like they hit A LOT harder than in POE1. In POE1 the elemental hits were always much larger than physical or chaos anyway so that makes sense. But Resistances are bugged? Where did you hear that info I'm curious to look into it!
honestly, I logged out today, a boss fight that I kill 100s and 100s of time with ez, all sudden one-shotted me... was it bad play probably but after running so many maps, chillin & are certain to let your guard down, I can absolutely not stand the xp loss, even with omen at level 97 it sets you back hours if not the rest of the day, I feel like I am making no progress & getting bored of just running maps over and over.
yeah it's really bad right now. Hilarious that we went back in time to how POE1 was to get level 100. You had to farm i68 maps to get to level 100, crazy and stupid grind. It'll change eventually and get better
You can block the flame seed that explode entire arena and other attacks with turtle charm but not the ones with multiple small line safe areas anymore according to patch note ( i blocked it before patch lands ) .
personally haven't tried this. In theory I would say yes because the energy shield remains and represents over your mana instead. Would also like to know this
On my eb mom sorc, grim just restores es up to x2 overflow. Does not affect mana. Es is from everlasting amu. Havent tried without amu/es, but id venture to say grim would do nothing in that case.
Just play a monk or caster. Everything dies before it can get close to attacking you. And don’t forget to cheese the game with herald of ice and herald of thunder
Im playing temporalis autobomber rn, i have a hard time surviving because i played ES/Eva character before. The problem is not recovery of mana/life, but chainstun/freeze even with the charms. Any idea how to fix it? maybe time of need with temporalis is good?
gotcha, I would say if you are using energy shield you could grab a jewel for gain stun threshold equal to X amount of energy shield and that might help. If you're not you may have to just run a freeze charm indefinitely and invest into some stun threshold on the tree or in your items a bit. The other way is to simply do way more damage
ooo definitely good! Only thing I don't like about recoup is that once it's capped it stops recouping. Still good to have definitely. Works great when you have damage recoup as well as life regen
Hey brother video idea here, i started playing SSF for the first time (new to arpgs) and i’m doing ice strike invoker monk. One of the things i struggled with was knowing what to focus on gearing wise as u get through campaign and how to setup maps/making sure you arent over challenging ur character at end game. Could be a good vid to talk about progression tips for ssf to make it easier for new ssf players.
It's so annoying to be forced to play energy shield in endgame ... I'm a witchunter, I want to use my sorcery ward and armour/evsion build. But no, if i don't stack ES I will just be randomly one shot whatever happens
A note for brain dead players... Which I needed after like 2 months... Actually read the mods on your maps and respect the fact that the monsters are stronger. And those mods also apply to bosses! I generally dislike skills like evasion because eventually you're gonna get hit. Right now I'm using evasion/es as just evasion didn't feel great as a ranger. I use wind dancer, Grim feast, and one more passive I can't remember. I'm in standard, still die more than I'd like but at least it doesn't happen as a surprise for me any longer. It's always on me now, which is all I ask, even if I'd rather have more survivability (just doesn't feel that practical to stack more at this stage. if I was hardcore I could change my passive tree further)
yeah I agree, even running magic maps is a common thing for awhile until you get your character power up. But yeah that's exactly the thing, eventually you do get hit. And protect me from harm was really nice to play on a monk though because I both got evasion and a bit of PDR to soften some of those big hits.
As someone who hasn't played POE1 but has played my fair shair of MOBAs as well as a lot of Destiny not having "i" frames preatty much at all feels so weird. Even Doom eternal has them and not bei g able to abuse something like that for the first time in what is easily a decade plus. The amount of glass cannon builds I've been able to get away with because of "i" frames and now I have to actually pay attention to defences feels like a whole new world of gameplay mechanics I've simply havent had to think about for awhile... yes, even in MOBAs.
Hahaha this is pretty true yeah, I mean the dodge roll feels like a bit of an "i" frame but doesn't take away all of the damage. It's a bit different since you need to rely on mechanics but as well as mitigation. I like the current system with dodge roll though, feels a bit terrible when you're doing nothing but rolling around in a fight though for example
it's really good man. The thing that's great about mana is it makes up for the lack of life scaling you can have on a build. It's basically just extra hit points and mana regeneration is a pretty easy stat to get which makes it even more viable. Tons of mana regen is basically life regen with Mind over Matter. I haven't played with it much since the game came out, but it's definitely an insane keystone. Thing is you can get mana leech, mana recoup, mana regeneration rate so there's lots of room for recovery for sure
MOM is strong but you have to devote ALOT to mana regen which takes away from other defenses and you could end up in a trap. The trap is out of mana and stuck unable to do anything. Even with movement casting with life or free dodge/blink, you can get swarmed when you can't fight back. I generally only use it in builds that avoid constant damage like skellies. Not only that when I get swarmed and can't escape I can bunker in with a raised shield and let the skellies do the work. It's to absorb the occasional big hit only. I feel like they buffed regen or lowered costs of stuff before this months patch. I was always OOM. Now popping a pot immediately is even to stay topped off when with spell spamming.
@robertosnow3841 I have been playing around/theory crafting with the innate skills on staves/wands which have no mana cost for MoM builds, my next character will use a gelid staff.
Too,late, level 77 stormweaver focused on cold spells, died 850 times already. Have recently switched to eldritch battery and mind over matter, and yeah I feel more tanky, but I still can get one shot with AOE spells (especially those damn chaos orbs that follow you). Terrified to switch to the chaos immune with 1 hp, because I frequently drop into my health bar after all the mana is gone
CI with grim feast would probably help a lot. I'm guessing you're not chaos res capped and are probably getting hammered by that since there's a ton of it
chaos inoculation (CI) turns hp to 1, and gives you immunity to chaos damage. And if you path your tree towards CI, you may also find plenty % energy shield increases near the upper section of the tree. With that said, it is a looooooong distance to travel for a witch hunter, and not viable until higher levels (70+)
@@hmmdoh7835 In that case, you should have enough point and experience to build energy shield. Patient Barrier (60%), Enhanced barrier (25%), and Heavy Buffer (40%) are probably the ES nodes you want to grab. And Grim Feast allow you to overcap your ES by 100%. Also remember that you can anoint your amulet by allocating notable passive skills from the skill tree, if there is a skill that is too far out of reach (Pure Energy 30% or Melding 40% should be fairly cheap to anoint if I remember things correctly). Other nodes of interest are MOM and Eternal Youth. I would take at least one of these for an ES build, so that burning ground doesn't destroy my survivability. Mind Over Matter (MOM): damage taken from mana before life. Eternal Youth: disables ES recharge but allows life flask to heal your ES. There are also some Evasion and ES nodes here for grab.
make sure to get chaos resistance if you're getting 1 shot too. Having even just 50% chaos resistance can make a bit of a difference. Although Volatile Plants Modifier seems to really just 1 shot anything lol. CI does fix it entirely and @gao_meng has the right idea I'd follow his advice!
another thing on why armor is so bad. All of the nodes which say, armor applies to ele damage are completely useless. This is because the armor reduces the value before your resistances unlike in POE1. So if your taking a 10k fire hit, your armor will apply, lets say you have 50k armor, then the hit becomes ~8k, then res applies bringing it to 2k, and then you. die. However if it was other way around, you would get hit for 10k, res brings it down to 2.5k and then armor reduces it to 500. HUGE difference.
Someone else was commenting this exact same thing. That's terrible, elemental hits are always much larger too so it doesn't make any sense they would do it that way
hahaha that first clip was 4 logbooks. Pretty lucky really I haven't been able to do that again since. 2 is pretty common, just stack tons of quantity and pack size
"stop dying" ... lol, yeah sure. When you zone into a new area with a new mob (my most recent experience is the Putrid Tower with exploding fungi casing mobs) you have to learn that unless you dodge you will die. Also sometimes you are swarmed unexpectedly and cannot doge roll out and have to a good local AOE to get out of it.
yup the getting surrounded is an instant pause and logout for me lol. Easiest way to get killed. As for the fungi I'm pretty sure that does chaos damage too so if you don't have any of that it will chunk you fast
So I got Acrobatics super early on in my Monk play through. But I feel like it doesn’t work AT ALL 😡 DEFINITELY not the way you showed it, where you were having attacks and boss slams just pass through you ??? I just don’t get it. I figured that would be a great node to allow me to focus on stacking other forms of defense, I.e. armor and energy shield- especially since even if I tried stacking evasion it would just stay at 0% with acrobatics WTF am I even doing wrong?? I REALLY like how the monk feels to play and has been my favorite character so far. But I don’t want to be FORCED to go mind over matter or energy shield or some other niche BS that everyone else HAS to do to even survive in end game- AT ALL 😡🤬😤 I will be doing great and suddenly I will just get one shot in a damn T1-T2 map that I SPECIFICALLY chose so I could finish grinding out my level without too much risk…. Made no difference. Got one shot TWICE in a row and proceeded to lose ALL of the experience I had just gained and more. F*CK THAT BS ENTIRELY. I honestly hope that the new Dragonkin ARPG is good so I can walk away from PoE2 until the fix it. I USED TO love D4 in the beginning….now it’s a joke. You don’t even have to play the game to level up and you hit max level in a few hours 😢🤦♂️🤷🏼♂️
Acrobatics makes you have 70% LESS Evasion though bro, you need to have A LOT of evasion to take Acrobatics. It's not something you take super early. The boss I was fighting was Executioner from Act 1 Cruel on my level 96 Monk with like 15k Evasion. It was just an example of how you can evade the attacks from bosses. In no way is that optimized. Stack tons of evasion you want at least 70-80% chance to evade with Acrobatics! :)
i got hit one single time from full health by a basic rare monster attack in a citadel just now and bled to death because i didnt know i had the debuff because the game has 0 fking tell for bleed and that armor is a completely worthless stat and continued moving and when i paused when my health got extremely low despite the potion that was active i still died anyway. and theres my second uninstall of the game the only thing a warbringer warrior can do is abuse herald of ice because they robbed us of armor break explosion chains and due to that you need 600 strength and 80+ of the other 2 stats. and then you swing at them and miss with 1500 accuracy. delete the whole game im so done with this shit
fair enough, I felt the exact same way with Warrior until I went Monk. All of your issues are solved by going a different class entirely. Warrior is a dogshit class with dogshit abilities and mitigation. They did the class dirty
@revoktorment440 I didn't know there was one actually. I noticed a mana one but didn't see ES. Figured that wasn't in the game but damn a CI build with svallin would go hard for that. After grim feast gets nerfed snyway
@@everseenTV Yea for sure, right now grim feast is just better. I hope there is a balancing patch soon, as in bring the shit skills up and not the meta down...
To bad getting gear with enough stats to actually take advantage of most of they systems are off the table for just about everyone due to how trash the looting is in the game. You might as well have just said get a few hundred exults and buy a carry with how honest this was.
Well to be frank this was a very honest video. If you can't get 300 exalts almost 2 months into the league then that is honestly a skill issue. There are lots of builds that are SSF viable to make on 0 uniques that function. Most abuse some sort of tech, but that's what we have to work with right now. Gear Acquisition is bad and I never said it was good, we can definitely agree on that. Crafting is even worse, but brute forcing gear is the way to go. Keep brute forcing it until you get what you need and approach the next piece. As well, drop 1 divine and you've got your almost 300 exalts :)

A lesson i learned from this video, if you're playing with life+armor, just accept being dead

There whole philosophy around armor has always been dumb, meanwhile comes with huge penalties to move speed
3. See 1. I have acrobatics on my ranger with 74% evade and its nice ... till you get hit. lol
and you eventually get hit, no matter what, evasion is pretty good but... dont put all eggs on one basket
yessir, if only there were many other eggs but unfortunately we lack of lot of defensive tools in POE2 atm. It'll come with time
hahaha yeah evasion+es, use grim feast = dont die. So corny atm xD
If you active block you can reset Armourbreak Debuffs on yourself by letting the timer run out. Helpful when there's hasted boars running at you.
oh damn really I didn't know this, that's not too bad then but you do have to pay attention to it still
Ice Wall is a very underrated defense skill.
Freezing, Pinning and Shocking are amazing defensive skills. there's nothing better than freezing a pack of mobs or a boss with ice wall.
Does frostbolt fork off of the ice wall with snakepit? That sounds really interesting
@@-_-5052 it's true! Serves as both defence and offense really. Since your own projectiles can shotgun off the frost wall. Definitely a skill that is underrated, but some of the best builds right now are using it

I use full-evasion body armor with 2500+ evasion raiting + Spectral Ward and a full-energy shield helmet + Subterfuge Mask . With acrobatics I have 12k evasion (81% chance of dodging). It works phenomenally well.
Yeah subterfuge mask I'm about to grab that on my pathfinder. Such an extremely strong node

Aim for 1800 health or more
When in doubt put the helmet on he suggested the atzidi plus get grim feast
Basically took me to t13s. When you reach t16 with +2 modifier to enemy so level 82 enemies you need chaos at 50% plus max resists, ideally 2k health, and as much energy shield as you can do with grim feast.
Even that I die if I’m not paying attention.
Thanks man! And as for that I think I'm going to make a general SSF progression video to help people out :)

Invoker monk has an ability that can start the shield regeneration on demand, but you still need to have enough to regenerate out of it.
I used meditate on my monk to essentially do the exact same thing but the reality is you really don't unless it's a map boss with monsters before it!

"Git Gud. Thank you for watching."

Made me kinda not wanna even try that build cuz i like stacking hp haha
yeah with CI it's definitely a cracked item. I feel like that is what gives it good identity though
Someone else was just talking about this same thing! I can definitely see how it's useful for that, and just stacking a ton of ES instead. I'm sure you get ridiculous damage on some of those builds though from doing that

Bro read my mind i was gonna ask for something like this
Ayeee lets go!! o7
Gotta save this vid and come back
Ghostwrithe is a must use for infernalist (demon builds) as for lowering your max health along with the Ming's Heart ring
Ah gotcha, why would you want to lower your health by so much? Just curious
Demon Form grants the following:
Shapeshift Form (Loses Weapons)
+25% Cast Speed
+6 Level to All Spells
Gain 1 Stack of "Demonflame" per Second
Lose 0.5% of (Max) Life per Second per Demonflame
Deal 18% increased Spell Damage per Demonflame
So the more stacks you have the more damage you deal, as your losing health you have to get life regen per sec on your helmet, amulet and boots to mitigate the health loss from demonflame aswell as having life regen rate on your jewels, aslong as your life regen is over your max health you can do decent damage the longer your out of demon form when health starts to go down fast and your health goes to 0 you just go back to normal
I'm currently at over 500 Life per sec and fly through Maps
hell yeah! I got a pretty sweet one for my titan too, that's definitely a good number for regen, keep scaling!
its easy to find good rings on the marketplace with % life regen as corruption enchantment.
@@wakkru remember that gemling gets 4 hp instead of 2 per point of strength so it doesnt have as much merit

Looks like I might need this vid
xD we all lose them eventually. This game is rough in Hardcore, way better since they toned down the on death effects though
XD when you have most of these and still get tapped.
lol unfortunately 1 shots are unavoidable. Not even in POE1 :D
The downside of blackbraid is fire damage over time ground effects. It destroys you.
Yeah burning ground in general is super lethal, I try to avoid that as much as possible
You can also get a corrupted Svalin that gives you 25 Life on block so combined with passives you can get almost 60 life per block. So with 60% block which is around (1 - 0.4*0.4) = 84% block you are basically invincible against small hits from map mobs.
yessir damn that is really strong, especially for similacrums
Yep, I'm running a ranger with extremely high evasion little bit of energy shield, wind dancer and ghost dance and about 60 to 75% on my resistances. Clearing juiced t15s.
yessir, evasion is the way right now. My invoker monk was walking over maps too
Is there a certain level of evasion you need before acrobatics is worth it?
You using Grim Feast like he said in the video?
Yes, it's a pain)) Acrobatics is the answer to most poe2 questions. And of course, the mechanics of complete incapacity - freeze, electrocute. The best defense is when the boss doesn't do anything or dies in 2 seconds))))
subscribed because we need more hardcore gigachads
hahaha idk about that, definitely not gigachad level I take my time in HC :D cheers for the sub brotha
Grim feast on minion builds gives 1500+ ES per remnant (as it scales with minion levels).
oh my god I didn't even know this that's insane!

I don't understand why use Wind Wave on Wind Dancer. Wind Dancer itself knock backs enemies - can you explain why you use wind wave?
I mean I'm not sure exactly if it provides more knockback but I figure that it does along with the nova effect of wind dancer

But I suspect with endgame characters it works like this: you kill so much of mobs at once and get so many grim feasts, that when ES regen starts, it's stacked and feels like instant ES recovery, but it's not.
it does give you instant ES if you pick up a remnant when not on full ES at least in my experience

@@jakpoa hey bro, it's in my discord! Link is in the description :)
As far as I understand, the ghost dance doesn't work as long as we have overсap ES?
I believe it does not, I would use Ghost Dance instead of Grim Feast though was my point
It's basically just Ruthless mode from POE1 and that definitely didn't value your time either
who said game has to be easy?
Mobs do generally feel like
they hit A LOT harder than in POE1.
Can you blocked bosses that "one shot" such as The arbiter of ash?
I don't think with the 1 shot mechanics you can because it's technically the arena doing the damage? I would guess no
You can block the flame seed that explode entire arena and other attacks with turtle charm but not the ones with multiple small line safe areas anymore according to patch note ( i blocked it before patch lands ) .
Kinda wish for more hp stacking and better armor. Atleast then there is viable options.
yeah it seems like right side of the tree is really dominant in POE2. Buff left side!
does Grim Feast add into mana if you use Eldritch Battery?
personally haven't tried this.
@@everseenTV I solved it by capping my res, turns out 10% below max is a big difference.
how can i keep up with ur build when my heerald of ice simply wont work at all even when its activated.
I don't understand how it could not work at all, are you freezing enemies?
@@everseenTV no it dosnt work at all even when its activated other ppl have this problem too
@@takusungjung3894 do you have support gems that cost additional spirit? it works on my character
But what about my beloved recoup?
ooo definitely good!
@@milddivine146 yessir! Great idea I've actually got a similar video I did for POE1. That's something I can definitely work on :)
Me over here with my warrior with block and armor and my witch using ghostwrite being the only 2 characters I have that clear endgame easy lol
hahaha i know right, a lot of builds are pretty gear dependent to hang in the endgame right now
I noticed there a lot of defence videos than offenc. Goes to show defence is harder to improve than offence
Yeah wayyyy harder. POE2 is actually lacking a lot of defensive capability right now compared to POE1. Offence is just so easy to scale in POE2
the wailing wall is a item like on in elden ring
It's so annoying to be forced to play energy shield in endgame ...
I'm a witchunter, I want to use my sorcery ward and armour/evsion build. But no, if i don't stack ES I will just be randomly one shot whatever happens
I know, can't wait until things change I want to play life based builds :(
First of all: Max stacks for winddancer is 4 (with quality) and you lose all stacks on hit.
What's second of all? xD You lose 1 stack per hit so if you get hit fast enough in succession of course you'll lose all stacks
What do you think about Mind over Matter?
Edit:nvm its been brought up already lol
it's really good man.
@robertosnow3841 I have been playing around/theory crafting with the innate skills on staves/wands which have no mana cost for MoM builds, my next character will use a gelid staff.
good video, though 99% of my deaths lately is from my own fuck ups with pyromantic pact haha, self damage ftw
xD haven't tried that out yet, sounds miserable lol
The ONLY legitimate way we should all be surviving more, is when they FINALLY fix armor.
Having to rely on specific niche nodes/builds is UBER trash
Agreed, I'm a huge armour fan in POE1
Too,late, level 77 stormweaver focused on cold spells, died 850 times already. Have recently switched to eldritch battery and mind over matter, and yeah I feel more tanky, but I still can get one shot with AOE spells (especially those damn chaos orbs that follow you). Terrified to switch to the chaos immune with 1 hp, because I frequently drop into my health bar after all the mana is gone
CI with grim feast would probably help a lot. I'm guessing you're not chaos res capped and are probably getting hammered by that since there's a ton of it
Damn if this could actually help me clear t4 simulacrum with minimum investment...
Similacrum is the hardest thing to do right now really. This isn't a video for that, you need an exceptional build for damage and using block imo
HORRAY FOR THIS.
Imagine using a shield as Demon Form
my witch hunter feel so defendless when mobs get close....
how to turn ur hp to 1 and so many energy shield?
chaos inoculation (CI) turns hp to 1, and gives you immunity to chaos damage. And if you path your tree towards CI, you may also find plenty % energy shield increases near the upper section of the tree.
With that said, it is a looooooong distance to travel for a witch hunter, and not viable until higher levels (70+)
@@gao_meng Thx for the info! im lvl 92 and keep dying by the chaos one hit ko rare mobs.....
Having even just 50% chaos resistance can make
a bit of a difference.
That's terrible, elemental hits are always much larger too so it doesn't make any sense they would do it that way
I'm so done with getting one shotted with my spark mage build with 5+ div investment
wait... how many loogbooks? who u do that???
hahaha that first clip was 4 logbooks. Pretty lucky really I haven't been able to do that again since. 2 is pretty common, just stack tons of quantity and pack size
@@everseenTV item quantity and monster pack size? thx for your response
i just reached city uzlaal on my melee dual mace build and straight up got got butchered by white mobs and deleted my character lol
@@sassysaddles9981 xD welcome to warrior. Give that shit up for now it's unplayable
I’ve died 400+ times in 200hrs+ of gameplay.
I learn more in this video at the 500 hours of gaming SSF xD
hahaha glad I could help man xD
why was pro gamer god gamer pictures of quinn in different poses? lol
it's a long running meme/joke that quin is a god gamer so I thought it would be funny to include xD
Funny shyt is i having same build still ggwp
"stop dying" ... lol, yeah sure. When you zone into a new area with a new mob (my most recent experience is the Putrid Tower with exploding fungi casing mobs) you have to learn that unless you dodge you will die. Also sometimes you are swarmed unexpectedly and cannot doge roll out and have to a good local AOE to get out of it.
yup the getting surrounded is an instant pause and logout for me lol. Easiest way to get killed. As for the fungi I'm pretty sure that does chaos damage too so if you don't have any of that it will chunk you fast
Level 95. 0 Armour, 0 Evasion.
So I got Acrobatics super early on in my Monk play through. But I feel like it doesn’t work AT ALL 😡 DEFINITELY not the way you showed it, where you were having attacks and boss slams just pass through you ???
I just don’t get it. I figured that would be a great node to allow me to focus on stacking other forms of defense, I.e. armor and energy shield- especially since even if I tried stacking evasion it would just stay at 0% with acrobatics
WTF am I even doing wrong?? I REALLY like how the monk feels to play and has been my favorite character so far. But I don’t want to be FORCED to go mind over matter or energy shield or some other niche BS that everyone else HAS to do to even survive in end game- AT ALL 😡🤬😤
I will be doing great and suddenly I will just get one shot in a damn T1-T2 map that I SPECIFICALLY chose so I could finish grinding out my level without too much risk….
Just saw a build of a guy who's damaging ability is wind dancer and one shots bosses...
hahah anything is possible with enough currency
@@everseenTV Did you mention the ES on block notable in your video? Very powerful
I hope there is a balancing patch soon, as in bring the shit skills up and not the meta down...
it's true, we really don't have many options to work with hopefully they just buff a ton of skills
