    My favourite way of using watercolours, let them paint themselves. That way, you never get 'muddiness' but vibrant bursts of gorgeous colours. It's all about water-control, good paper and creativity, love it. Beautiful painting!

      Thanks Molossergirl2. Your comment is so true. Watercolour painting can take a disastrous turn with the wrong paint stroke. Check out 👍my latest watercolour painting. Its a new technique for me. I allow the water to do its thing, with minimal brush strokes. With every painting I learn something new. PLUS there are so many great influences on YT.

      Hi Joanne, thank you for your positive response to my art.
      The palette is made up of Winsor & Newton brand of colours: Prussian Blue, Winsor Blue, Olive Green, Cadmium Red, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow and Ivory Black.
      I use a Cold Press 140lb water colour papaer.
      I have a variety of brushes, some are real hair and others are synthetic. I experiment with different priced brushes to see which hold more water.
      For every painting you see me create, my studio floor is littered with many previous fails. Failure is the path to success.
      Hope this helps.
      John

      Hi soulkitchen1979, thanks for taking the time to comment. I apologize for not getting back to you to answer your question about my work. Currently, my work is not for sale . . . yet. Al the paintings to date that appear on my YT channel are concepts for larger pieces. I am sharing the beginning of my process and will, hopefully, sometime soon start creating larger paintings that I will film. Once again, thanks for your support and stay tuned. 🍻

    Would you consider including a list of paints you used with each painting? It would be so important for us novices...

    • @look4light
      @look4light  4 роки тому +6

      Hello Mariauca, thank you for all your comments. I am so pleased you are enjoying my watercolour videos.
      To answer your questions about watercolour palette and brushes, I have tried many brands of watercolour paint over the years and always come back to Winsor & Newton. W&N have a variety of pigments that fit the budget. I use Professional series becauce of the intensitiy of colour. That said, their other less expensive series would be my reco for starting out in watercolour painting.
      Here are the colours I use in my palette:
      CADMIUM RED / BURNT SIENNA / BURNT UMBER / YELLOW OCHRE / CADMIUM YELLOW / RAW SIENNA / WINSOR BLUE (RED SHADE) / PRUSSIAN BLUE / OLIVE GREEN.
      Watercolour brushes, I have tried all kinds and would recommend you try a variety of brands. The synthetic brushes are becoming better quaility and hold more watercolour paint, I use these for my larger brushes. I use sable hair brushes for my smaller brushes because they hold more paint and are great for detail.
      When I first start to paint a landscape I do about 6 quick, abstarct scetches. One after the other, not allowing myself to focus on detail of brush strokes. This allows the pigment and water to complete the interaction. Have fun with the medium. You'll be amazed at the results.
      👍

    Would I be right is supposing that your painting disguises somewhat a fine training in drawing?

    • @look4light
      @look4light  4 роки тому +1

      You are right. I have been very lucky to have been surrounded by a family of artists as well as doing a 4 year commercial and fine arts degree. I have learnt more about art and the art of observation over the years through travel and meeting people. I never stop evolving my craft. Who knows where art will take you. 👍

    • @look4light
      @look4light  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Teri, here are the pigments I have in my palette. I may not use all but this is my foundation.
      Cadmium Red, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Raw Sienna, Cadmium Yellow Deep, Prussian Blue and Winsor Blue
      Two side bar pigments that I use rarely are Olive Green and Black.
      Thanks again for your question, always happy to help.

    do you find that certain brands and/or colors disperse like this more? Would you be willing to share that info with us, instead of us going out and spending a bunch of money on colors that don't do it?

    • @look4light
      @look4light  4 роки тому

      Hi Rosemary, thanks for your question. Over the years I have tried out many different watercolour brands as well as watercolour paper.
      The watercolour paint I use is Winsor & Newton Professional. It is the most expensive but the colours are much deeper in tone and don't fade as much as the cheaper brands when dry. Because of the price I use a limited colour palette, see some of my newest painting videos, I show the colour palettes in the beginning of the videos. It will give you an idea of how you can start testing techniques etc. I would encourage you to focus on playing with various watercolour techniques and try different papers. If you purchased just a few tubes of paint and some inexpensive watercolour paper ( 140lb cold press) any brand, that will get you started. Experiment, test different techniques and have fun! 👍

    Brilliant work it was a joy to watch but the synthesizer music and the two note piano drone was kind of distracting.
    By that I mean it really did not match what you were doing with your incredible artistry. If you want me to send you some beautiful music to go with that I will.
