This guy DOES NOT MAKE $20k per climb. Tower climbers are lucky if they make $30 per hour. BTW, this guy works for Sioux Falls Tower and Communications and his buddy had just gotten a drone, so he let him film him climbing a tower. The video subsequently went viral and the misinformation started. God, when are these videos going to end? Everybody just taking what’s said in a UA-cam video as gospel.
I hate heights but if this paid $20k for a few hours work I'd do it without a harness and in my underwear. No chance they get paid that much

Not an electrician. He's a 'tower climber'. Same guys who build your cell towers and maintain your public safety radio system towers.

These guys get paid between 20-50 an hour. Depending on what tower company you work for. Also, these guys are more jack of all trades. From RF engineers, pipefitters iron workers. They are underpaid by a long shot. It’s extremely physical and mentally demanding. Having to be in there A game anytime they work. Because a few mistakes can cost them there lives.

Every 6 months implies that the job of changing the light bulb is required every six months, not that he has to do this every day for 6 months for $20,000. He shows up for 1 day of work, once every 6 months, and makes $20,000, which is about half of what most middle class people make all year. He probably does do multiple towers every year. My bro in law has been doing the same thing for 18 years. He has multiple of contracts for multiple companies to do this. He travels to 9 different states on the east coast to do a job.
Quit spreading false information. This is a tv tower for starters and we don’t make 20k we get paid hourly like everyone else. We also climb them daily not twice a year

I delivered copper catodes with my 18-wheeler some years ago to this tower. It is really amazing to se how high it is.

his hardhat looks like he’s an ironworker. ironworkers usually do broadcast towers not cell tower guys. he prolly makes less than $30 an hour
No he doesn’t, stop lying to yourself & your audience. You get paid an hourly rate of 15$ - 45$ an hour depending on your experience & how good of a climber you are.
As long as you keep tied to the tower and keep your wits about you, you should be fine.

This tower is no longer standing,and fell in a wind storm on may 12, 2022 and reports say the tower was only 1,565’ tall was for KLDT analog tower. The digital tower is on the other side of Sioux Falls in Rowena and yes it is 1,999’ AGL

Man that would be a cool gig. Only need to work twice a year, yeah it's a tough job, but you could basically live off grid and have like no bills and just show up for that day when needed and every other day is yours to do what you want.

Risky job tbh , i work in oil rigs and gas maintenance "Toxic type of Gas".... Those fields require atleast 2 types of Anti-phobias if not more... Altho his work is minimal while the wage is considered decent if not good... It ain't consistent , 60days to replace a light pulb isn't like 30days digging up for crude-oil. ( Thats why some might think he gets paid less for the risk , and yes it is absolutely ).

This is bullshit. I already saw this exact video in 5 with different titles. With payment range from 20k to 120 k. No one will pay you 20k for one climb. It's bullshit. I searched the whole internet trying to find that job. And it doesn't exist. They got paid 30$ per hour... For 20k, I would climb with a smile on my face.. I did a way dangerous jobs for way less money...
Even if I could stand the heights, no way my legs gonna climb my a$$ up that high and not give out. Kudos to this man!
When I was younger and my legs were stronger I still wouldn't go up there. I'm not really afraid of heights but this is pushing it.
That's why it takes all day to climb up, do maintenance and climb down. You rest every ~50 meters, it's like working on a construction crane but x50 altitude
i actually do this in Scotland and u think its easy lol remember we have to get up there and get back down safely so its not just the fact of changing a bulb

No, he doesn't make that much. $23-$30 per hour like any other worker. There are many guys who just love climbing and not doing a typical job. If you need that much money to do this job, you are not cut out for it. If they made that much I would have been sitting on a beach sipping piña coladas a long time ago.

This is not all true he works for a tower service company and works weather permitting on towers daily does more than just service that one tower last I got on this one it was not even being used the transmitter went dark years ago bit is maintained as per FAA regulations.

2000 ft / 1,7 ft = 1176,5
So rounded up makes about 1200 steps to climb up.
Salary is 20.000$ / 1200 steps.
