Well bud, Been watching quite few of your videos recently you do a fantastic job 👍🏻 I’ve been plastering also since I’ve left school I’m now turning 27 pretty much knows the ins & outs of it and have worked for relatives last 10 years but wanna try go out on my own new year would you have any advice or tips maybe you could even do a video about someone looking to start on there own? Thanks
That seems more tedious and more skilled than just skimming a whole wall or room. How much do you charge for bonding and skimming over chassis and sockets ?
plaster? here in canada they used and made plaster walls with horse hair in them way back in the 19's Now here we have these sheets called DRYWALL I noticed living in a apartment that has plaster walls, as soon as you try putting a nail in to hang anything it start chipping Drywall is so much better you don't have a bucket of stuff all you need to have is a drill, some wood screws and well maybe a bit of puddy to cover the screw holes Why do they still use and make plaster in America? if that's where this is filmed?
Nope, filmed in Northern Ireland. Drywall, which we call plasterboard is used throughout the British Isles and in the island of Ireland, and no doubt in the rest of europe. We do use plasterboard, but typically skim over it to provide a better more durable finish. Commercial buildings tend to have drywall without plaster, only filling the joints with jointing compound. Its an inferioir finish but who cares if its only in an office... The plaster is gypsum based, not lime which is found in 100 year old buildings which would have had horse hair in it like you mentioned. These days odern houses tend to be plasterboarded whereas prior to this the walls will be solid either with or without a cavity in the walls. This video has plastered walls I suspect with a cavity.
