Getting hit with a 9mm is like getting hit with a pebble traveling at 1,200fps.... It's not gonna take you off your feet. Getting hit with a high caliber round at close range is much the same. It goes in and out cleanly doing minimal damage.
This movie deserves a lot more attention from audiences than it is getting. It is really good. The entire movie is a giant shoot out in a warehouse, but the characters are so well written and interesting that it is able to hold your attention for an hour and a half.
A24, literally every movie released from you guys looks amazing and ends up being amazing, and there's a huge variety of genres from you guys. Can you pleas never change from being this awesome?

Bruno 80% of blockbusters maybe but overall not even close, to name some from this year: Zootopia, Midnight Special, Green Room, Swiss Army Man, Don't Breathe, Sausage Party, Lights Out, Hail Caesar, The Lobster, Kubo And The Two Strings, The Witch, Hell Or High Water, The Secret Life Of Pets, Bad Moms, The Neon Demon, Wiener Dog, Blood Father, The Shallows, The Nice Guys, Central Intelligence, Everybody Wants Some, Cafe Society, Love & Friendship, Sing Street, Hush, Nerve, etc, etc, etc. That's just ones released, I could go on and on naming more yet to come. So yeah, there are loads of original movies out there
+David Rowe Dude it's almost hopeless, most people have no attention spans and are to stupid to focus when they see an original movie advertised becausethe publicity budget is less then some stupid Hollywood remake or sequel! So the idiot sees what's advertised the most instead of what's new or good! But your right, if I hear one more genius say "Hollywood makes nothing original anymore" when most of the originals at ignored.....It's the ultimate stupid statement!
Did i say that hollywood don't make original movies? I said MOST movies in this industry are either a remake or a sequel. Original blockbusters are almost nonexistent, you only see good original movies coming out from the indie scene.
Watched this last night in theaters, loved it. Very funny and I really enjoyed the way it was shot. The sound was also very good, I liked how the audio shifted directions depending on who's point of view it was showing.
That was a really smart move. It reminded me of one of the brilliant aspects of Reservoir Dogs...shoot it in a single warehouse and you can save so much money on location shots and really focus in on the characters and storyline.
To all the people complaining about what it's about and where it takes place and all that, Ben Wheatley knows what he's doing. Each and every one of the SIX bafflingly original film he's made over the course of SEVEN YEARS have been beyond stellar. Their disobedience to genre conventions truly differentiate themselves from the work of any particular filmmaker that's been making films today. Free Fire may very well be a loving ode to Tarantino, but whether that's the case or not, it's still a highly original concept, and with the talent involved, I don't know how you can expect anything less than the best.
+IWannaBeTheDolphin If it's funny and well written throughout it may be worth seeing what's up to that third act, uh! Plus, the cast is amazing as well as the talented director!
Hey look it's someone who would never watch Brie Larson in something outside of a superhero movie because that would involve real people with real acting!
No, you are wrong, very wrong. First of all, I'm not sure if you watched the trailer, but this looks to be a dramedy (drama + comedy) so it is unreal by nature (them laughing during the fight, acting unrealistically calm and witty throughout etc...). This is by no means a bad thing, I love movies of this vein (Tarantino-esque), but when I read the logline and saw the cast, I was excited about the purely dramatic potential (no, not your wrong definition of pure drama). A gunfight, though entertaining and tension ridden, is NOT pure drama as you say. It doesn't seek to delve into the existential or emotional depths that will captivate not only our attention, but our souls.
Cameron Lao-gosney first off, you are a pretentious douche. secondly, i see your point, i wasn't really thinking when i related this movie to 'pure drama', but in case you hadn't noticed very few movies delve into existential or emotional depths that captivate not only our attention, but our souls, and this one is a light-hearted comedy about a big gunfight.
This cast is already delicious but the cherry on top of this trailer and what sold me to go see this is the line "I forgot who's side I'm on!" Brilliant!
Just saw it last night. Hilarious. For me the funniest moment was the one caught in the trailer as well: "I like your cardboard armor!" - "Protection from infection..." lmao
Just came back from seeing it. What an absolutely astounding end to the LFF thanks to Ben Wheatley delivering one of the best action films of the decade!!! I had seen three films that day, but even then after this ended, I still had energy. Didn't expect to like Brie Larson, Armie Hammer, and Sharlto Copley so much, along with Cillian Murphy, Babou Ceesay, Sam Riley, and Jack Raynor. Tarantino wishes he made this good an action movie.
What I like about this trailer is that they show a lot of the people that die, yet I still want to see how they die and by whose hand. Plus, a movie that's an hour and a half long shootout? I'm watching it no matter what.
A bit of historical context: The handshake originated to ensure that whoever you were doing business with didn't have any hidden weapons up their sleeves or in their hands.
I love this movie. The whole movie is just a moment, it’s one night. I wonder why they’re buying weapons and I wonder everyone’s background. I would love to see a movie/movies showing.
Damn Carol Danvers has been busy, first she tried to become an artist and gave up then became a cubicle worker then met Nick Fury and almost became a unicorn then got arrested for arms dealing.
LOOKS. FUCKING. AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Brie Larson is my favorite actor, and this is the trailer that we NEEDED ALL YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!! My most anticipated film of 2017!!!!!!!!
steve cheevers Brie Larson looks for roles better than that. She doesn't really like 2 dimensional characters. Shocked me too. This is actually my most anticipated film of 2017. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Brie Larson fan right here.

I saw the first trailer around a year ago or two I've been wanting for this for a long time! I had forgotten the name of it. This needs to come out NOW
I can't believe I just finally found this film. an hour and a half long shootout is just pure art to me
Such a fun movie. The dialogue is hylarious. And I love how he uses John Denver 😂😂.
Yes this movie was really good. It’s funny and different.
This looks absolutely hilarious. I love the whole "we don't really wanna kill each other but we actually kind of do", half-hearted gun fight thing
It's funny the way they treat it kinda like painball
It's good but ridiculously stupid at the same time how they've made being shot so unrealistic.
I don't think its trying that hard to be realistic.
Getting hit with a 9mm is like getting hit with a pebble traveling at 1,200fps.... It's not gonna take you off your feet. Getting hit with a high caliber round at close range is much the same. It goes in and out cleanly doing minimal damage.

Slow clap
Kenny Tee is the whole movie them battling in the warehouse ?
From the looks of it yes
Yep, it's a 2 hour long film, where about an hour and a half of it is one long shootout.
Kenny Tee is it any good ? Like what out of 10 ?
i hereby claim this warehouse, by ORDER OF THE PEAKY BLINDERS!!

You Fucking nailed it right there.
Finally an original movie. I'm sick of reboots and remakes.
what are you talking about there are SO many original movies, I hate when people act like there's not it just makes you look stupid
Care to name a few? Take a look at summer movies this year, 80% are remakes/reboots/sequel. Only indies are worth watching.

Sharlto Copley and Cillian Murphy, I'm sold.
That was a great movie. However, it could have been a little longer.

No, in fact i think there might even be a third group.
I wonder if the breaks will show a more serious tone with flashbacks, which will show how/why each character got into this mess. ;D

Yes. It's a 75 minute gunfight.
Haha makes sense, exactly what it's advertising.Though I wish this cast was pushed to something more dramatic.
something more dramatic? a small cast in one tense situation in one location is drama at its most pure!
No, you are wrong, very wrong.
