I live in Queensland, an Australian state three times the size of Texas with a population of about 6 million. We have had only 6 deaths from covid, mainly folk who contracted it on a cruise ship early last year. Regardless of politics, our state government has taken advice from a brilliant Chief Medical Officer and protected us from the outset. Our tourist industry has suffered and businesses have struggled, but we can shop and go about our daily lives without fear of covid or being shot by a stray bullet. If we get sick or we're injured, first-rate hospitalisation and medical treatment are free. That's not Texas.
That's just another culture war issue that conservatives started... We used to call it jab, hit, shot alot of different things, but conservatives wanted to demean it, so call it other than vaccine and they will latch onto it and make it seem silly. Just like they did with masks and social distancing. Heck, they are still doing it with the virus itself, saying why fear it...

I feel the same. Our country is being held down by a minority of ignorant fools. They have a lot of power however.
I love how the focus is on others, and on how you don’t know how vulnerable the person you’re dealing with is. In short, do the right thing. Love the straight forward Aussie way. Respect.
🤢🤮🤮🤮 Just one Australian's opinion here. If for some ungodly reason I did want to live in the US, the LAST place I would want to live is Texas.
Especially if youre a female. And not white. Nor wealthy.
Thats the impression we get here in Oz.
@GuyB
I live in the Devided States of America and I stay as far away from texas as I can and I'm a 67 year old white male.

@@bigiron8831 well you did steal it in the first time. Is it true that almost noone at the Alamo was fro Texas?
I live in a blue state and even here these MAGAts are screaming about masks. A piece of cloth. These people are why we still live without normalcy. 😒 A loud minority screwing up everything. They are the reason we have so many laws.
@@greatdividingrange1785 You are correct. From U.S.
"Individual Liberty" isn't all that great when it potentially endangers everyone else around you.
I’m Portuguese and I’m definitely puzzled by this distorted “individual liberty” American concept. Don’t our personal liberties end where our fellow citizens begin? For instance, aren’t seatbelts mandatory? What about second hand smoke? Isn’t it regulated? You can smoke, of course it’s a personal choice, but no one has the right to impose their cigarette smoke on others, right? To those that don’t want to take the vaccine I’d say, sure, but don’t expect to impose your will on the majority who also have the right to be safe. So, take regular covid tests if you want to participate in society, at your own expense, and if you are employed by the State, then vaccines are surely mandatory.
@@davidalmeida2991 you are absolutely right. Sadly, the Republicans in the US don't see anything they do as infringement of anyone else, because they literally cannot comprehend that their choices affect anyone but themselves, regardless of the subject. It also doesn't help that they never consider something to be a problem unless it directly impacts their lives. That's how truly self-absorbed they are. This is what we get for having any entire political party campaign on anti-intellectualism for half a century.
Dayum!! Australia proving once again that the "convicts" were smarter than the "religious nutters"!!🤣😂 Has Ted come out from hiding after this smackdown???👊🏼🤣😂
Nope he still hiding 😂😂😂
Just to make it clear a huge amount of Aussie settlers were voluntary not convicts, yes alot were but not all.
It was hard to not enjoy THAT!!😂😂
@@diamonddiva8376 😂😂😂
Over the initial 7 years of Australia settlement only 160,000 were convicts. Opportunities were offered to relocate which many took advantage of.
Boom baby! And this is why Australia and New Zealand are the best.
Got a cheek to say "I stand with the Australian people", dude for a start, they dont want or need you, you can't even take care if your own state and you call the Aussie government tyrannical? Really?, look after your own before you take on another country and what they have mandated
Finally someone with guts! Bravo.
I wonder when GQP people will start saying that Australia doesn't even exist...
😂😂😂 Ahhhaahahhaa to funny !
Please don't give them any ideas.
So many room temp IQ's in the (R) party is an embarrassment as the leaders they support laugh at them
I'm surprised they haven't tried to issue a mandate yet wiping it off of Atlases in schools. The GQP is the party of "Pretend It Doesn't Exist".

We are also trying to take care of our indigenous population, but of course, that wouldn't worry cruz would it. Edit: We also don't want to be aligned with Texas at this current stage of its trajectory!
This has nothing to do with aboriginals
Ted Cruz is for me an embarrassment, that is I am a Texan and the politically position on covid is a disgrace to our survival of this pandemic. Texas has more cases than any other state in America. Where is compassion that politicians apparently ignore in my state, not here but the evidence lies in Australia. Cruz, if you really care about the people of Texas, why that tweet? The best part is the VAST majority of Australians agree with the mandates and rules to protect everyone. The US and republicans in particular are just plain ignorant and wrong, and not just with Covid. US politics matter across the globe and I’m hopeful for a blue wave next year and in 2024

As an Australian, I totally agree with Mr Gunner on this! I live in Northern NSW and everyone I know is actually upset that our new premier is completely opening up our state too early! Of course there’s a few morons who protest these mandates, but as far as I’ve seen, there’s a lot less of them than in the US, thankfully! Our state now has just over 80% full vaccination rate, and, although lockdowns suck, they’ve really encouraged people to get vaccinated, as have the mandates, and no doubt have saved a lot of lives in the process. I know where I’d rather be living right now, so pls keep Australia out of ur stupid tweets from now on Mr Cruz!! Big love and hugs sent to the rest of you in the US, pls stay safe xx
