I’ve also heard him be called a gypsy which in America gypsies are romanis (which I really don’t know much about either) but what is a traveler how do they live and why are they hated? @@scottgeoffrey1793 a traveler is a general covering name of people who claim to be travelers ie gypsy or Romany decent. by blood, although since the 70s and 80s many house people have moved into the traveler way of life and claim to be off traveling stock! many are descendants from London poor. who losing their houses went into caravans to find work etc. so not many true romanys about now. true gypsie Romany people are dark of skin and face and have a very different way of living and life. a lot of their history has been lost in generations of today who try to live the gorger way of life and not sticking to their true traveler ways and rules! the Irish tinkers are barbarous and thieving nothing like their English Romany namesakes. GORGER IS A DEROGATIVE TERM TRAVELLERS CALL NORMAL HOUSE PEOPLE. Some traveller camps are worse than others and give the others a bad name, as the police can't really deal with them many of them commit crimes and steal from people, but you get that with all people in society. A gorger is a term for non travelling folk, someone who lives in a house pays taxes etc. Nowadays a lot of travellers livenin houses also as the government has been cracking down on them and forcing them out of their camps. Most of them come from Ireland they are similar to gypsies. There is a good documentary on youtube calle knuckle.
