My only complaint with the GT500, while it's a sweet car, they should have offered a manual and that's my one reason I'd never get it! It's cool and quick, I've been able to drive it, but the manual for these cars is a lot more fun!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed - The manual is definitely a plus on the GT350 and the ZL1. Nevertheless it’s hard to beat the DCT on the GT500. You can’t go wrong with any of these vehicles. The Mopar jailbreak vehicles should also be thrown in this conversation. Purchase American muscle while you still can.
I have a GT350 - both are amazing cars. The flat-plane crank Voodoo engine doesn't even begin to come alive until 4K rpm, where it then screams, rips, and pulls all the way to 8,250rpm; they are engineered for top end/track performance. That said, driving it around in at "parking lot speeds" is sort of laughable from a "review" perspective. It would be like reviewing, and then sharing your perspective, of an F150 Raptor's "Baja" mode by driving it 3mph up and down a paved driveway.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed you really can’t go wrong with either one. However, That flat plane crank engine really does add an extra element to the whole experience
@@BrosFOURRSpeed The ZL1 1LE out performs the GT500 on the track. The ZL1 has a considerable amount more torque and horse power. I feel like the ZL1 is too elite to be compared to the GT350 which is only a fraction faster than the bone stock GT. I am huge fan of both cars but they are just in different leagues. IMO
I’m confused by the ZL1 in this test. Those carnards are not installed by the factory on this car as those come on the 1LE, not the base car. Plus they don’t even seem to fit flush. So did the dealer just add them or did the owner?
@@BrosFOURRSpeed bro he means the base ZL1, non 1LE package does not come with the carnards. The 1LE package ZL1 comes with them. Whoever owns that car must’ve installed those himself.
GT500 isn’t as good looking as the GT350 to me, and it costs too much in comparison to the ZL1. The ZL1 with the track package is $75K, and the GT500 with the track package is over $100K. So the GT500 is cool, but I prefer the ZL1 or GT350 for the money.
As a mustang fan, the 350 is a totally different beast then the 550 platform. Eng, manual shift, front nose, suspension, all of these modifications gives this car a distinct advantage and look over a Camaro. This is a track car….top of the line revs at 8300, power band.
@SF, your right, the Camaro is #23 of cars of distinction on the Nurburgring. A sign of true Euro-American greatness! The only car sitting above it is the Viper and then the Corvette. Ford gave its Desire to break the top 100 by delivering a vehicle everyone can enjoy and afford. But…I wouldn’t take the Camaro. The 350 in a category all by itself and holds that distinction with versatility and effective revs. I see the Camaro, but it’s not a chameleon, there are greater cars. Too each his all, I know this, my car puts a smile on my face every time I drive it! I call it Mustang therapy…suit me…just fine….
@@dennisajones9352 I do love the GT350 - definitely not bashing the car, I think it looks and sounds great and the 8K rev limit is awesome with the FP crank motor paired with the classic 6SPD trans. The price of the GT350 and the Camaro ZL1 are also close right now, I saw a 2017 ZL1 for $56,000 and most GT350’s I’m seeing for $55,000 - the performance of the ZL1 is superior in a straight line and also the track. I do understand the driver experience of the GT350 and the raw input it provides as well. I agree it is just to each their own.
If you heard me say, that these two can be spec'd at a similar price. The models that I had already reviewed were $12K apart, but in general, they can be similarly priced as I mentioned in this video.
$12K difference is not exactly similarly priced. Also, comparing 6.2L force induction engine with 5.2L naturally aspirated engine not exactly the same ether. There're a lot of Mustangs around. But it's not the same as Shelby GT350 which is more rare than Camaro ZL1. BTW GT350 front-end design with cobra like profile, with fangs and head lights representing eyes of cobra. Thanks for the review though.
Yeah I know these two aren't the direct competitors. I have more comparisons coming. But cool to see how the N/A Mustang is like compared to the SC Camaro
I love that voodoo V8 in the shelby but the ZL1 is a better deal because of all the extra tech
Yeah a bit newer car for sure! Love the smooth N/A V8 in the Shelby tho for sure
Team camaro! Great video man!
Glad you liked it!! Camaro is a great option
I'll take the ZL1 any day!

It’s a dealer vehicle and with limited allocations, that’s all I could do for that review. I know how they drive.
I’m going with the GT350

The dive planes on that ZL1 were an add-on. Those are original only on the 1LE option package.
Not comparable.
Why not?

They should be priced similarly. I am not sure how this ZL1 cost over $70K since it doesn’t have the 1LE package, it should be closer to $65K.
