When i lived there, i had to walk to go surfing barefoot. They would take the flipflops even if i buried them - they were watching i guess. They dont wear size 13 u.s. so i guess they used them as a paddleboard. Pretty country but ugly too. Never going back for SURE.

In 2011 I went to Playa del Coco and stayed with a a Tico family and back then there wasn’t the Nicaraguans like now but my family host told me that they needed bars on Everything and high walls due to local poorer Ticos stealing Everything!
Now the mainly US/Canadian speculators/ immigrants legal non legal have come on mass in the last 4 years to build tourist traps all over the coast and wherever they think it’s worthy of making 💰💰💰💰💰 off of tourists and other foreigners from the wealthy entitled countries.
So now there is truck loads of Nicaraguans working on the building sites and all crime is blamed on them by Ticos and also foreigners!
Where I am in Nosara most of the Nicaraguan builders live in a corrugated metal shack with NO amenities!
The workers are usually working 12/7 per week payed less than $2.00 per hour!
The other issue is in Nosara it’s become the most expensive place in Costa Rica and that means lots of wealthy people and tourists who want to ‘party’ and may want to try the Latin American nose candy as well as May fall into habits and want other drugs too!
This brings in the big drug cartels because there is big 💰!
    So it’s a big bag of 💩
That comes from the greed driven western countries and basically in a very short time tips a small sleepy place on its head!
I hope I covered most of the reasons
It’s a big subject that a small comment can’t do justice to.
But western development has pretty much everything to do with this issue.

Well, I am what THEY call a Black Canadian ( though I resent being labelled that way) and after 3 weeks on the Atlantic side of Costa-Rica ( Puerto Limon and Puerto Viejo ) , here are my perceptions :
    1. Costa-Rica groceries charge too much for food compared with North American grocery stores, given that a Costa-Rican on the average earns HALF the average income of
a North American : there is no way for him to survive .
What is the average salary in Costa Rica?
Salaries in Costa Rica range from 597,000 CRC per month (minimum salary) to 10,500,000 CRC per month (maximum average salary, actual maximum is higher). The median salary is 2,460,000 CRC per month, which means that half (50%) of the population are earning less than 2,460,000 CRC while the other half are earning more than 2,460,000 CRC.
    1 000 US = 540 000 colones and 2 000 US = 1 080 000 colones( CRC)
    2. Costa-Rican live above their means as a good number of Costa-Rican drive cars (or take taxis) and need to pay gas, repairs, insurance.
That is why crime in Costa-Rica seems to increase .

Rape and sexual assault is a huge problem there most tourists can avoid crime by staying away from the surfers, doing tours alone with a guide, guys standing outside of parties and using discernment with who they involve with. Many charming men are the worst ones… as for your daughter I’m young and those guys she knows know me as well and they are dangerous

Its been years since I last was down,my dad had a few properties there and my wicked stepmother was native to Costa Rica .Her nephew was shot for the same reasons your daughter was friendly to that guy in a bar there ,I was pick pocketed a few times but was able to remove their hands from my pockets .My favorite place was Desamparados Pourvinere ,sorry if my spelling is wrong .The people there were very genuine and kind .I never found that in San Jose and I never spent much time in tourist areas like Guanacaste although that was a beautiful spot .San Joaquine was where I spent the most time as dad had a house there .Spent a fair amount of time down at the Osa Penninsula on an almost uninhabited island ,old fishing lodge ,that was spectacular .Had a lot of local friends there ,more than what I am used to here in Canada .Now my dad is somewhere in San jose in a musoleum which I will never get a chance to see again .Although I have seen one end of the country to the other more than a few times and some of those memories are preicous to me .

I can hear you loud and clear but I can't watch videos when people shake the mobile constantly. I needed to stop watching after 45s in order to not get dizzy. I have the same problem with my parents or some friends. Very intelligent people though. They never put themselves in the position of a viewer. It's so simple. Just put the mobile on a table, put the roll of toilet paper upright 🧻 or some heavier object of a similar size and lean the mobile back. If the mobile starts to slide down, repeat all what I wrote previously but with a cloth under the 🧻 and your mobile. I am sorry I used to tolerate that for years. Now I have zero tolerance. Solution is very simple. Since I am really interested in what you have to say I will give it a second chance later during the day. Maybe I'll just listen without watching. Best regards
