Just like another comment said, they might have been replaced and probably wanted revenge. Their design is AWESOME with the sprites. The song goes HARD. They really took their time and worked hard for this and I'm glad they did!
I love how in Set me free the notes are offset a little to the left just like how they were in base fnf. It makes it look like you are playing the base game instead of psych engine and I love this detail.
The BF & GF from the first song might be prototypes created for the loading screen and then was replaced by the newer models, but they might still be in the game folder trying to escape it or seeking revenge.
These mods are just getting more hype and having a lot of content and effort EVEN THE MUSIC GOES HARD GOD this has to be one of the amazing short .exe mod amazing work devs

Something about the way Set Me Free sounds…it does such a great way of portraying the desperation and intensity of the situation through its music. Its so well done.

I really love the sprites for BF when fighting exile, its subtle change sthat really brings the charcter t lige but remians almost indenticle to his OG sprites in style. ❤

When the FLA files of his version of reality corrupted, the artist simply moved on and started from scratch. FLAnimal himself got to live, but he’s unfinished and buggy (which is why his body parts don’t stick) causing him constant pain. His Girlfriend is dead; her body is only moving because the animation of her sprite forces it to. He’s not a bad guy though. He’s at his final days, knowing he’s going to be gone soon, and this is just him wanting one last song, which his finished counterpart agrees to. “SET ME FREE” simply refers to him getting his last wish and fulfilling the purpose he was meant for (being the Boyfriend) before passing on. At the end of the song, he even dies.
