Visual or optical illusions have tricked the minds of many generations throughout the centuries. Aristotle himself noticed that if you shift your stare from a moving waterfall to perfectly stable rocks, they will magically move, as well.
Visual illusions are more than just fun for the audience; they can also help you find out if your brain is healthy. Bright Side has nine curiosities for you to stare at. Let us see how many of them you can figure out.

SUMMARY
When it comes to vision, your eyes are only one part of this complicated mechanism. They transmit information about the light they perceive to the brain through the optic nerve. The brain then does all the hard interpreting work. Because it gets lazy sometimes, or just too busy, it has worked out some processing shortcuts. It uses shadows, perspective, and color to correct the image it gets and decide what is what and how it works.
The brain of a healthy person deceits itself. So if you can’t figure out how things are in all the illusions, it only proves the fact that you are a perfectly normal person.
People who see what the deceit part of the illusion is and how it works immediately are either schizophrenics or geniuses. Their brain uses no shortcuts and doesn’t put all the details together to make things easier. People with schizophrenia cannot choose how and what they see. Genius minds can decide if they want to perceive the deceit, or not. Healthy normal people can also do it. Now that you know the secrets of quite a few illusions, you might start looking at things differently, as well.

Was I the only one who saw that the bike's wheels were spinning backwards? And the pedals weren't moving at all?
You should take a look at car's wheels. Above a certain speed you can see them spinning the other way because of the time your eyes/brain "refreshes" images, it's kinda funny. By the time you see something like a second frame the wheel actually did almost a full 360, so every time you can "see" it it's a little more to the left, again and again, so the wheels look like they go backwards.
Totally noticed the pedals not moving, the answer in the name for the rubik's cube. Just had to take off my glasses for the café wall one, blurrier than what they showed after... The eyes were trickier, but the eyelids, smaller on top and bigger underneath gave it away. The middle line for the chessboard doesn't move at all, much nicer to look at.

I am schizophrenic and it is interesting that you put it that way with whether your brain is healthy or not. Just because I have schizophrenia does not mean that my mind, brain, or consciousness is not healthy. I just perceive the reality around me in a more direct and non-common manner. I really wish you would do a full length episode on schizophrenia to help educate people on the matter better. Also, why did you use a deranged looking individual to represent that particular part of the video?

The box has a hole, you can tell by the lighting, for the large box the light comes from the left and for the small one from the right, that only works if there is just one box with a missing corner
I can see both the illusion and what it actually is (I know it changes the angle to show whats actually happening, but thats not what I mean). It's like the t-rex illusion. You should look it up.

I usually watch these things to see if I can see through the illusion or solve the puzzle but recently I've been getting questions that even my friends would the is correct wrong. And the worse part is that I have the explanation yet they assume, say one thing, or just nothing at all. I really don't want to see this channel in my recommended tab anymore because lately it's making my question myself more than a Harvard entrance exam.

@Starwarrior 7 The only flaw is in your small brain, maybe study up on the stroboscopic effect. Ever seen a western movie where the stagecoach is going down a hill and at a certain speed the spokes appear to be rotating backwards? You know the coach can't be going up that hill backwards pulling the horses with it!
The bike, rubiks cube, cafe, and chessboard ones didn't fool me for one second. The rubiks cube and the bike were especially easy. The rest of them, on the other hand, got me.
The box trick works because depending on the shadows, the angles can appear as a outside angle or inside.Same with the bust ,it can appear to be an outward face contour even when its a negative contour. the contour can work in both directions.
The rocks were moving, it wasn't your eyes

On number 3, due to the different perspectives of lighting and shading, you see it three ways. 1 is the smaller cube is viewed from the top, but the bigger one from the bottom, so the darkest shade should not be on the right side of the smaller cube than the bigger one. 2 still looking from the bottom, 1 more small cube will complete the big cube with the same shading on each side with the rest of the cube. Subtracting one cube will make the same shadow fill in the empty space. So if you look at one face of the big cube, the lighting will still be the same, regardless of missing cube. 3 is when you imagine an incomplete hallow cube. The parts with the most lightings are walls, and since the light is coming from one angle, so if you look at one wall, it should look the same for lighting, regardless of added cube.

I actually missed that, but knew it was a Rubik's cube right away at a perspective angle. I spent enough time holding one as a small child. Pretty hard for me not to recognize one even when it's morphed.
In the last one, when you see the boxes from diagonally downwards direction to that vertex of the cube where another smaller box is placed, you will see that the smaller box is placed inside the larger box as the vertex of the smaller box takes the position of the vertex of the larger box where the smaller box is placed.
Well, you need to watch it from exactly diagonally downwards direction to make this illusion possible.

I thought I was doing poorly until the end of the video. Thankfully I am completely normal.
In Number One, if you freeze the video, you will see that the spaces between each two spokes is a uniform color and therefore they are moving but at a speed coincidental with the frame refresh rate of the video. This makes it appear as if the spokes are not moving. In fact, the real issue is that because the pedals are not moving, the bike must coasting, and it's coasting downhill BACKWARDS which means that the rider is about to come to a very unhappy ending of the ride.

May be I am a genius. I got many of the illusions and understood the tricks immediately...quickly recognized that the chess board lines aren't moving, the bicycle sprockets aren't moving, the woman's head is moving in the right and only direction, the triangle is never possible, the diagram is actually a rubric. What I couldn't get is the fault in the man's eye and the small and large box.

I looked past the patterns and straight at the black lines, intentionally focused on them and said they're parallel. when they blurred it afterwards, I was like, "YES!!! I Rock!!"

@Starwarrior 7 The spokes can appear to move opposite of forward motion due to stroboscopic effect, many old western movies had this effect on forward moving stagecoaches.

The little box can be outside, inside and part of the box at the same time depending on how you look at it. If you think that the small box is inside the big box then it is inside the big box
