    Thank you for making this video. I have never made a rug like this, but have always hoped to someday. However, it always drives me crazy when I see those stairs steps in rugs; even in braided rugs! I always figured I’d use the slip stitch at the end of a color to ease the transition. But I understand why you make the stitch, cut it, then take the stitch out: it gives you the exact length you need on the old color to hide the transition. Nice tip! TFS. 🌷

    Yes, an excellent technique, Lora! Thank you. I’ve been struggling with this very thing. Making a jogless color change when knitting in the round is easy. But with crochet when using such a big hook, well, I was stumped. So this Thanksgiving, I am thankful for you❣️ God bless!

    Blessings to you and thank you again so much. In a message I had written to you yesterday I had mentioned that it was because of you that I have started my first crocheted rag rug. It was this video that encouraged me to take on this endeavor. I like the professional way these transitions happen when using your technique. I'm on day two of making my very first rug and because of you I have successfully completed a transition in color. It is so exciting and I'm absolutely loving this craft. So again, thank you very kindly for sharing your knowledge.

    I used your first video to see how this was done. It was very well done. I had no problem understanding. Some people practically want you to do it for them. Don't take it personally, your original video was extremely helpful. Admittedly the lighting on this one is even better. Thank you for taking the time to share this tip.

We DO have many solid broadcloth fabric rolls you could use! Real Red, White, Black & Silver Gray would achieve this same look!

    As I was doing “rug research”, I found you and the large crochet. What is the advantage of this technique over the toothbrush rugs? New to both…

    • @RagstoRugsbyLora
      @RagstoRugsbyLora  2 роки тому +1

      Hello, Kevin! Thank you for reaching out! I think it simply boils down to preference. I love both techniques (and twine-weaving) equally! Some people I've spoken with over the years have found crocheting rugs to be a challenge & twine-weaving or toothbrush easier. Again a matter of preference I feel!

      Hello, Heather! Unfortunately no. Not the print 'Rug on a Roll' fabric rolls. We had to make the painful decision to take the rolls out of inventory when fabric prices tripled during covid. It was a sad sad day in paradise for us! :/ We DO however, have our beautiful batiks AND the solid broadcloth fabric rolls!!!

    Do you use 100% cotton fabric for all your rugs ?

    • @RagstoRugsbyLora
      @RagstoRugsbyLora  Рік тому +1

      Hello, Susan! Good question! For our very special fabric rolls that we sell in Rags to Rugs, I definitely prefer 100% cotton & bias cut! They are so awesome in all of our rugs & because they are bias cut ... no threads!!
      However, I use ALL types of fabrics in my rugs & in fact, that's part of the fun. I love seeing how different fabrics work together in texture & design.
      Thanks for reaching out! Happy New Year to you!

    • @RagstoRugsbyLora
      @RagstoRugsbyLora  Рік тому +1

      Hello! Most of my rugs I use 2" wide fabric strips. However, I always keep in mind the weight of the fabric I am using. The lighter the fabric - the wider my strips. The heavier the fabric - the narrower the strips. Here's a video that I go a little more in depth!
      Hope it helps!

    I appreciate the work you've done in developing your technique. But I question why you don't just finish the old fashion way. When you are on your last stitch don't pull thru the last loop. Add your new color to the hook and finish stitch. Now your row is even and new color ready to go. I'm not being critical but it just seems more labor intensive and time consuming. Am I missing something? Thanks 😊

    • @RagstoRugsbyLora
      @RagstoRugsbyLora  3 роки тому +1

      Hello, Karen! Thank you for reaching out! I take absolutely no offense to your comment & I don't see it as being critical in any way!
      There are many ways to transition no doubt! This is simply the way I have always done it and I enjoy sharing. But I'm confident it's not the ONLY way!
      Hope you have an AWESOME day & weekend ahead!
