I think they dropped the ball on this one. I always felt Jack and Janet had such wonderful chemistry they should have married. The spin off should have been about them. No offense to the actress playing Vicky but this all felt too rushed.
This show always made me sad when I was a kid. I didn't like Jack "settled down" and I couldn't stand Vicky. I liked the single, free-spirited Jack from Three's Company. He had such chemistry with Janet and Chrissie, more so than with Vicky.
Thank you for your service the pain you went through watching this lol. But seriously Jack and Janet have a lot more chemistry they can joke with each other I just loved when Jack and Janet would flirt with each other it was cute Janet can balance Jack more because she knows him a lot more in my opinion
There was one episode where Larry made an appearance. It was almost instantly apparent how much they could've used Richard Kline in the mix. Jack and Larry were naturally funny together. In the absence of having Joyce DeWitt, Larry would have been a great addition.
ABC was on the "fence" about renewing Three's A Crowd for a second season. John Ritter said that unless they committed to a full season of shows he wouldn't do it anymore. ABC only offered a shortened season of 13 shows and depending on the ratings whether to renew it for a full season. So John Ritter quit doing it after season one. Mary Cadorette (Vicki) has said the writers had plans to make her a TV"weather girl" in the second season with Stuart Pankin being her boss. There were also plans for Jack and Vicki to get formally married.
I think John realized what big mistake he had made by the end of season 1 and he had more interesting offers for better projects. Good for him. Couldn't have tolerated Jack and Vicky were married. At least i can imagine they broke up and he reconnected with a freshly divorced Janet.
Watching the last two episodes of Threes Company when Vicky was forced on the fans, that was the problem. It wasn't a relationship that was growing, instead it was one dumped on us. I think Maria that didn't speak English played by Maria Richwine would have been more fun to watch with her learning English from Jack. It would have been a reverse Ricky & Lucy.
If it's any consolation, the actress who played Vicki (Mary Cadorette) was equally unlikable. Every time she was on the $25,000 or $100,000 Pyramid, she was a total personality-free zone. She was an even worse actress.
Actually, I agree her stance on her independence but it is a stretch to believe that a man who lived with two women for years would be this much of a sexist prick
I’m kind of disecting these episodes and I never would thought,Vicky comes across too bitchy and uptight.Janet had her moments but was a bit more compromising and easygoing and played off well off Jacks antics. There were plenty hilarious screwball moments with Jack and Janet. This is such a one sided thing where Jack is trying to be his normal goofball self but she always seem so pessimistic and annoyed,it gets irritating.
This show isn’t as bad as I remember when I was first on. Granted, it didn’t have the chemistry that 3’s Company had. And the scripts here were really bad, really silly, literally unbelievable that people would do things like this in real life. Not only that, but Vicky was often actually mean to Jack. And she often talked down to him, or acted as though he was stupid. It was always about what Vicky wanted. Today, that would be several red flags, lol… Yeah, the show was pretty terrible, but sadly, I would still watch this over almost anything on TV these days…
This show ruined all that Jack created himself up to. The woman with him wasn’t the perfect fit for the role. Jack as usual performed well. His third wheel performed well too. Show would have done well if Jack started goofing around dating other girls.
i remember him having more chemistry with Greedy Gretchen who came back for one episode to tempt him than Vicky .... i was embarassed for the casting agent.
Yeah, I didn't like her the moment I saw her on Threes Company. Brings nothing to the table. So what if John Ritter had good acting chemistry with her out of all the actresses who auditioned. It doesn't show. Then her father is annoying as Hell.
This could have been a much better show. Jack needed a sexier costar, one he could banter with and where you’d see the attraction. Vicky was just dull. And the surfer dude character didn’t work at all. Why not a bigger supporting cast of people who work in the restaurant - a waitress, a hostess, etc? Robert Mandan was a good comic actor, but his character needed to be toned way down because he was irritating as hell. More Jessica Walter, please. And they should have gotten Richard Kline back as Larry after his pilot wasn’t picked up. He did do a guest appearance but it wasn’t enough.
Either janet or chrissy would have been a better match. The producers made a big mistake by not casting suzanne somers as his love, even when suzanne had requested and came back.
Reading a lot of hate for Mary and I think it's undeserved her character was a mature woman her parents were immature it kind of makes sense Teri from three's company was pretty mature I wonder how people felt about her
Okay this is the first time I've actually gotten even a taste of this series beyond just the introductory at the end of the three's company series. Yeah this is weak. I didn't think it would be this bad 🤔 I don't think it's the actress's fault. This is just a very very toxic character. 😔
Jack Tripper was such a cool goofy guy. They messed up big time. I did not like this show. I did not like the way they did the opening credits. His girlfriend was weak. There was a slim chance that a spinoff could have worked and it included Janet being his girlfriend. It probably would not have worked for long, but at least there would have been an extra season with Joyce DeWitt. The producers blew it.They should have offered her a big pay raise.
Threes company had a perfect blend of silliness, raunchiness and heart. This show sadly had none of that.
Delighted'ughh y 6u g
Lots of this is just me either thinking of better jokes, or just imagining how better it would be if Jack was playing off Janet instead. 🤷🏾♀️
There was so much more chemistry between Janet and Jack than this one.
I agree. Vicky was such a BORING character. She wasn't funny at all. They should've just it alone with Jack and Janet....and had Larry move in!😆
I think they dropped the ball on this one. I always felt Jack and Janet had such wonderful chemistry they should have married. The spin off should have been about them. No offense to the actress playing Vicky but this all felt too rushed.
@@cjc2that’s because it was rushed.Vicky just wasn’t an interesting actress
I totally agree.
Janet could tell what Jack was up to.
Jack and Janet had natural chemistry. This show had really missed out and that’s why it did not last.😢
They had sibling or friend chemistry. Not romantic chemistry.
Jack Tripper neutered, this series folded faster than a shirt a Chinese laundry
This show always made me sad when I was a kid. I didn't like Jack "settled down" and I couldn't stand Vicky. I liked the single, free-spirited Jack from Three's Company. He had such chemistry with Janet and Chrissie, more so than with Vicky.
A real “Where’s my paycheck” sitcom….
Thank you for your service the pain you went through watching this lol. But seriously Jack and Janet have a lot more chemistry they can joke with each other I just loved when Jack and Janet would flirt with each other it was cute Janet can balance Jack more because she knows him a lot more in my opinion
Wow this is BRUTAL
This show fills me with the same sadness I felt when I first saw it. I'm glad Hooperman came along.
😂😂😂 I loved Hoopperman!!
It was a bad attempt at Robin's Nest. Three's A Crowd was canceled, because John Ritter demanded a full second season and ABC said no.
It is worse than I remember. The cohabitating feminist dynamic does not work as well as the sexual innuendo miscommunication of the original show.
Janet would have been a lot better.
This is what happens when a nice guy gets involved in a screwed up family…
There was one episode where Larry made an appearance. It was almost instantly apparent how much they could've used Richard Kline in the mix. Jack and Larry were naturally funny together. In the absence of having Joyce DeWitt, Larry would have been a great addition.
Absolutely. I never understood why Larry wasn't part of this cast.
I dont think I ever watched an episode of Three's a Crowd from start to finish.
John ritter out of 500 auditions chose mary carodette, i think he thought it would work
makes you wonder how bad the others were if he chose her
@@technicolordreams2111😂😂😂😂😂. Scary thought!
Vicky is so annoying ong, Jack is so gorgeous and stuff, why wouldn't she want him 💀💀
literally why is she forcing him to live with her if he wants to marry and she doesn't
I don't know what "type" Jack's into but can't believe he'd choose her over Janet. Once again, she's my type but Jack is stupid for not marring Janet.
@@technicolordreams2111exactly! I'd so marry him, she's just stupid af and literally such a horrible Tv character
@@mikepastor.k6233Jack loved Janet like a sister.
Vicky is really unlikable!
She is unlikable
I like her legs.
Jack should’ve been with Janet
Next watch Hooperman
I've seen it! cute show

Instead they purchased Diffrent Strokes from NBC who had canceled it as it was another dying show.

I think Maria that didn't speak English played by Maria Richwine would have been more fun to watch with her learning English from Jack. It would have been a reverse Ricky & Lucy.
I think this show's demise is that the audience started hating Vicky? Watching her attitude in this clip alone makes me cringe.
If it's any consolation, the actress who played Vicki (Mary Cadorette) was equally unlikable. Every time she was on the $25,000 or $100,000 Pyramid, she was a total personality-free zone. She was an even worse actress.

Agree. She was so annoying and uptight.
@@RedNekLvr22I can believe that. She seems as interesting as unbuttered toast.
I think for her it would have too much pressure cause previous one had so much chemistry!!!
All they did was make Jack look like an idiot. The chemistry between the original cast was undeniable. I hate 3s a crowd
They should've cast an actual comedienne to play her.
Watching this was tedious! #JackAndJanetForever❤
Jack said in an interview that it couldn't be Jack and Janet because Janet's father approved of them living together in Three's Company
I loved Vicky🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂❤❤❤❤

Jack had chemistry with Janet, and I like Greedy Gretchen.
Separating John and Joyce was a bad decision.
Yeah, I didn't like her the moment I saw her on Threes Company. Brings nothing to the table. So what if John Ritter had good acting chemistry with her out of all the actresses who auditioned. It doesn't show. Then her father is annoying as Hell.
I'm surprised John Ritter liked her. She seems dull as dishwater. Not funny and no exual chemistry.
1:19 A Character Actor from one Episode of MASH . He played the Father of a track Star.
This is cringeworthy to watch. What were those producers thinking after Three's Company??
Looks like two's a crowd also
😂
This was a terrible show not surprised it only made it one season
Joyce Dewitt is so pretty!
Joyce was not in this spinoff. I think you meant Mary Cadorette. She was awful.
Mary Cadorette who played Vicki killed the show. Her acting & comedic timing was just bad.
Definitely. Her lines are so wooden.
A better sequel to Three’s Company would have been something like Mad About You.
How was Mad About You any different than Threes a Crowd? Two sitcoms about a couple. 🤷
Never knew this existed
Idc what y’all say this show is still good even tho it had bad ratings and got canceled I like it it makes me laugh and I still watch it til this day
So the recurring joke in this series is Jack proposing to Vicky?
Who said I didn’t want to?

Exactly. She had no $ex appeal. She was totally unlike the women he fell for on TC. She reminds me of a school librarian.
Either janet or chrissy would have been a better match. The producers made a big mistake by not casting suzanne somers as his love, even when suzanne had requested and came back.
They probably got Mary Cadorette for a lot less money than Suzanne Sommers would have wanted. She would have wanted the same pay as John.
I’ve always Loved the show. So much hate I don’t understand it .
Reading a lot of hate for Mary and I think it's undeserved her character was a mature woman her parents were immature it kind of makes sense Teri from three's company was pretty mature I wonder how people felt about her
I don't like Vickie. I wish he would've married Janet
Even Terri would have suffice.

The last shot of threes company..ik this show was set up to fail
This was a waste of John Ritter. He deserved a much better show than this stinker.
Goody good shoe wife. Father in law all wrong.
Is that Larry ,Jack's friend in 3 company?
yes
He guest starred on one episode that season. The only bring over from Three's Company, along with Greedy Gretchen

Another spin off that didn't work.
I just threw up a little.

The actress they cast as Vicky was horrible. Not funny at all. Whoever cast her should've been fired.

I still don’t see what jack seen in her.not attractive at all
I think she's very beautiful. It's the lack of chemistry
I think Vicky is the reason the show bombed in my opinion..I definitely stopped watching it because of her..she was dull and nothing special to watch
