Hi, I am Sunny, from the Youth Reporter Corps, and today I am in Washinton DC, where the 2024 UCA National Youth Conference is being held. The leaders of youth organizations from all over America have gathered here to talk about themselves and to share their experience. Our own organization, the Youth Reporter Corps, will be attending too. Let’s go take a look.
On June 28, 2024, the UCA National Youth Conference was held in the Omni Shoreham hotel, Washinton DC. There were displays for youth organizations and presentations made by some of them. In support of the event, UCA provided a total of 13,000 dollars of award money, to be divided among the organizations participating at the conference. Awards were given to some of the organizations and outstanding individuals present, our own organization, the Youth Reporter Corps, receiving a certificate of recognition.
56 organizations were present at the event, each one of them setting up a display stand with boards introducing themselves, brochures, candy, and small games. Chinese American associations from different parts of American met each other, and the organizations attending ranged from a mental health group to a culture center with actors performing shows related to Chinese American history.
Around 160 people were present for the conference. Besides the displays of the organizations, young speakers were invited to talk about their experience activating for their rights and creating the groups various groups that they led. A play about Chinese American history featuring child actors was held too. The conference has been an opportunity for young people to display themselves and for everyone to learn more from each other.
