He/She is at least consistent to punish and attack, it's not as RNG as some may think. Bed of Chaos has no competition, period. Dragon God and Ancient Wyvern are cancer, but are slightly more bearable than BoC.
@@enman009Why do think Dragon God is so terrible? It's bad for sure, but it behaves consistently and it's pretty easy to beat it withou getting hit as long as you're patient. Miriam is a she, by the way. Zullie did a video on the Elden Ring NPC faces recently where you could Miriam's face underneath the mask.
Might be a hot take, but for me Aldia would be on a top 10 list. I get it: he's not as bad in a vacuum, but when you take into consideration how much they built him up over the game, how they packaged an entire special edition of the game around having him as a new boss fight, and how this was after all the great bosses in the DS2 DLC, the fact that all they had for this guy was giant immovable damage sponge spamming some lame projectiles while making you afk every so often is absolutely wild.
it actually pisses me off so much, aldia as a character and ds2 in general would be so much more respected if they just gave him a decent boss fight. instead they somehow made him even worse than nashandra
I feel like maybe they thought that making him any more difficult would be a bit much considering he comes after throne watcher and defender, and nashandra, if you don’t leave in between those fights. But I really do wish they added more layers to his fight
It's a shame the gargoyles are such an awful gank. Individually their move sets are pretty good and I get more enjoyment fighting the black blade variants. The twinblade/axe variant I like more though.
Dude, yeh like fighting BBK or soloing one is just so much fun. If only they removed the poissen thn it would become way better. Not good because it won't be but much more manageable
I know another boss that could easily be added to the top of the list. Delirium from the Binding of Isaac. A boss: - with one original animation - who randomly transforms shape between bosses you've already fought in the run but they are sped up - is a spammy bullet hell - has one of the largest boss health pools in the game - has boss armor so that your damage is capped and the fight drags on - does double damage because it's a late game boss - as it takes damage, will get faster, more aggressive and teleport more often - is actually a secret final boss - and worst of all, Delirium can and will telefrag you. As of Repentance, and since Isaac is a roguelike, Delirium must be killed 34 times, at minimum, to complete a save file, once per character. Honestly, I'd rather fight every boss on this list, except Bed of Chaos, rather than Delirium.
I was literally thinking the same thing (although i haven't played Dark Souls): 1. Has a one shot attack 2. Has a stunlock attack 3. You have to guide him to his arenas through a foggy labyrinth, because he forgot where they were 4. Talks random stuff all the time (and screams for some resaon) 5. Not a fun fight
10:31 the thing I hated the most about gargoyles fight was that they can use that poison breath attack while you're riposting the other one, effecitvely making it unavoidable and depending on your health, unavoidable death
Adyr, an actual god that you can't fight, can only interact with through a different ending that kinda stinks (in my opinion) and even when you do "beat" him the reward is being Thanos dusted by the other god. Also, the remembrance is in a completely different area...pain. Such wasted potential
Just a notice: Lady Osakabe in Nioh2 can be cheesed like Bed of Chaos. There's a 100% safe spot in the left-foremost corner of the arena, as far as I can remember.
I would also include Headless Duo and Ape Duo from Sekiro. No matter how much you dislike other bosses, fighting underwater one of the lost tedious enemies in Sekiro, two of them for that matter, leads to a poorly executed fight. Having two big monkeys, one of them recycled after his death, in a small cave is not my definition of fun. Also, Lone Swordsman Vilehand and his henchman sucks harder than some ER ganks. Reusing an old area for an already reused enemy is bad, but those two enemies are cancer.
Lies of P recently did gank fights both well and poorly with the same boss, imo. The first black rabbit fight has you damage the big guy, causing a miniboss to drop a every 30% of hp or so. You could keep fighting the big guy and summon them all at once, but it's more fun to kill the minibosses as they come in. They have decent but not too tricky movesets, are relatively squishy, and the big guy becomes super passive when they come in. In contrast, I fucking hate the second black rabbit fight. All 3 minibosses are there at once, with one of them activating and taking point for a period of time. The active one applies status unless you dodge or parry, removing blocking as an option for a lot of them. If you run too close to the passive minibosses, they'll attack, leading to blenders of attacks from many of them. The passive minibosses will do very fast ranged attacks to support, with the worst being the grapple attack. The arena is small and the passive ones walk towards you until they're relatively close. Minibosses will recover health over time, so when a new miniboss is active, the last one recovers a lot of its hp, unless you try to rush them down and risk the attack overlap blender. It's just a very frustrating overlap of mechanics which are fine in a vacuum but horrible combined.
@@sauceinmyface9302 Trust me, I remember those bastards. I was so infuriated that I gave the control to a friend to finish them. They're almost worse than the Duo Ape, since it's a copy paste with little changes other than just more enemies. Still believe fighting underwater a Headless duo underwater is bottom of the barrel. I can understand someone tolerating the awful ganks of Sekiro, but can't take seriously someone pretending it's not a bad fight.

I actually managed to beat Nemesis on Inferno mode, spending 40+ attempts The worst thing about this fight is inability to get up fast enough to dodge second hit, which leads to situations when you are punished twice in a row and instantly dead
Nice video! I generally agree The gank squad, which is responsible for one of my life's low points: a low level, no healing, no parry challenge run of the game, where this boss took me over 200 attempts. Most of the attempts would last like 10 minutes at least, and then I had to do the runback over 200 times. At least the music is pretty good. When I commit to something I always see it through to the end, but I had very long breaks from the game during this because it really pushed me to my limit of patience. As for the few things I disagree with... I actually like Lud and Zallen! I always found Aava far too simple to be engaging, and I find the duo fight makes the most of the basic move-set and makes it quite intense and fun, even if there is occasional bullshit. I quite like the music too...but maybe this is all because I never found it very difficult: on my first play-through I beat it in three tries, and in my second (no healing) play-through, also three tries. So I never got overly frustrated by the runback. Also, Demodcracy catching a stray? Not a fan? I've always liked his content, although I agree his negative video on Elden Ring bosses is one of those awful, toxic and sadly highly influential videos made by struggling players shortly after the game released, that show more about their (and the many people who agreed in the comments) not knowing how to play the game rather than anything actually negative about the bosses. To this day you still hear people parroting those videos and it really is quite frustrating and annoying. Still, I can forgive the guy for one miss...
Would be way better if one of them hung back more. Varg and Graverobber being in your face was too much. I had a run where I was ‘very’ low level (beat Freja, Sinner, and Medusa lady) and couldn’t beat Varg. His defense was so high his Estus would out heal my damage. Made him run through 12 before he finally took me out. No idea if he has a cap or infinite. Was furious, spent like 40 minutes and all my items.
I have nothing against Demod, he's excellent at making videos, writing scripts, narrating... just sometimes wish it was in service of more thought-out takes.
I used to like DeMod and it was his videos that got me into souls to begin with, but in the past few years they've just become so overwhelmingly negative and bad
My additional choices - Deathstroke(Arkham Knight), Clown Puppet(Lies of P), Uncharted Drake’s Fortune final “boss”, That pseudoboss in GoW Ragnarok, Eggman in oil zone(Sonic 2), Infested Vehicles(DMC 2)
@@omegazx7236 because he is mini boss that has boss life bar, moveset is trash, placement is trash, AI is trash. Ok, last one maybe a good thing, cause it allowed me to cheese him.
So you played the Resident Evil series ? I was expecting Super Tyrant from RE2 remake to be there. A boss with Dark Souls like attacks in a game where there is no dodge, block, or parry button. Just amazing
my favourite game "Vampire: the masquerade - bloodlines" (quite a niche game so im not expecting it to be on here) has some pretty offensively terrible bossfights. The worst one i fought is definitely Ming Xiao See this game is an RPG with a skill points system for combat which would usually be fine. However all of the bossfights are in the latter half of the game, and it only actually gets hard at the very end. So its very conceivable that players just haven't invested into combat at that point. Worse, these fights massively favour ranged combat, which is something that basically doesnt have a use early game because of the heavy skill point investment to make guns not suck With ming xiao its very possible that players get borderline softlocked because they haven't invested enough into ranged combat. Not only that, it's a 5 minute bullet sponge fight where she just spams 2 different attacks at you and occasionally makes clones of herself, and takes off a massive chunk of your healthbar every time you get hit I genuinely just had no idea how to beat it, I had to look up tutorials. Basically all of the actual ways to beat her just feel like cheese- circle strafe around her and exploit the ai until she just dies. its not too bad once you know how to cheese it but its still horribly tedious Again, I love this game to death but I'm not defending those bossfights
I remember in DS1 I came to a point where I was always able to no hit Bed of Chaos, every time I replayed it, I understood the intended mechanic, the boss is not that bad designed, I already forgot though. 😅
zhang rang isnt nearly as bad if you know the gimmick to the fight is the continous posture depletion on each clone. if you kill one of them the next one you attack has the same posture as the previous one was left with so the trick is to jump from one clone to the next as fast as you can making it a glorified dps test. it still sucks, but less so if you play the way the devs intended i guess.
Worst boss would for sure be Witch of the Lake! Feel like there’s no competition. Did you play the second one? I only lasted like two hours. Hated it. 100%d the first one but couldn’t stand the second.
@@wr5488 witch of the lake was not that bad in my opinion, maybe due to the fact that i beated her on my 2 try.The bosses i had most trouble with was the tree of men and the third lamb
@@dang3rgaming743 Those two were tough! Tree I never had issues on but other people for sure complained about it. Lamb felt like it was meant to be waaaay later. My issue with the Witch was she'd do one shot kill barrages. Which is fine, but she'd overlap them so you often couldnt dodge them, or shed start the attack offscreen so you couldnt see the attack being charged up. A lot of things she did was just rng death. Like if she started a barrage before the first one ended there wasnt anything you could do. Maybe a dude with a shield could tank but its been years since I played.
After watching some RE3make speedruns, I had that same thought that Inferno Nemesis looked like a Sekiro boss. It must be much harder than it looks if you were never able to beat it. A "Sekiro boss" done right happened in the next remake with Krauser, in my opinion. Parrying that five slash combo for the melee counter was good fun.
Godskin duo or the duo crucible knights would be the obvious picks from ER for me, they epitomise the problem with the ganks in that game (though the Valiant Gargoyles were a damn good pick, that fudging poison gas is so annoying)
And you "epitomise" everything wrong with the playerbase of Elden Ring. Rather than learning the fights, you cling onto the fact that there are two of them and only put any degree of effort into ruining them for everyone else. The actions of you people are responsible for making the game physically worse.
Tbh I thought all of ER’s gank fights were very manageable. One hangs back while the other attacks, or they’re slow, or easy to evade or something. There’s nothing remotely like Varg and Graverobber sprinting at you non stop and never being apart from each other. Or the DS2 Gargoyles (my least favorite Fromsoft boss) where all 5 mob you together with big sweeping attacks.
@@trutyatces8699 How does my opinion on a boss fight ruin it for everyone else? If you enjoy the boss, you enjoy the boss, I don't mind if you do. But I don't enjoy fighting them. Do you really believe that one opinion is responsible for 'everything' wrong with the player base? It's not about not about learning the fights. As someone who likes fighting both the Black Blade Gargoyle and God Skin Apostle I like they're base move sets. Honestly minus the poison I actually like how the Valiant Gargoyles play off of each other with their weapons. But these fights have problems that I don't enjoy and so I criticize them. Additionally in a game filled with superb bosses, are these fights really the hill you want to die on? Like if it was Malenia or something I'd understand, but fights against enemies already encountered but now there's two, that's what gets you worked up. Basically, I don't get why you care.
the i-frames work with bed of chaos because you don't take damage if you roll, but they are also built in a way that they push your character even if you are rolling. And the push is headed to the hole in the floor. it is not a malfunction, it was programmed to be like that.
I actually think Lud and Zallen are worse than Bed of Chaos Just to think about it: 1) a reskin of a boss from the same DLC 2) an unispired gank fight 3) bullshit hitboxes 4) their skin breaks any weapon before the fight is over 5) runback is the embodiment of crap 6) stupidly high damage output and regeneration of second tiger At least Bed of Chaos is original and can be cheesed
I don't think originality counts for anything when it gives us something as bad as BoC, which barely engages with the combat system, has horrible hitboxes, bullshit instakills, a bad runback of it's own, and drops the floor out from you in a game without a dedicated jump button. Being easier/cheesable is definitely a positive, but not enough to outweigh everything else IMO. Lud and Zallen definitely come close, I just can't see them or anything else dethroning BoC as the worst boss in the series.
Surprised to not see Ancient Dragon. I find myself waking up at night, wondering why any developer would design something so bad. The intended way to beat the boss actually bemuses me at a deep level. That fucking fire attack is a disgrace to game development.
I feel like giving it a tiny bit of slack because it really makes no sense for you to even attack it. It's just a friendly NPC and you against all logic go and start hitting it. If anything, it's nice they even bothered to make it a fight rather than have him be invincible or something. But yeah the fight itself is awful.
I agree. Bed of Chaos is a worse boss but Ancient Dragon is the antithesis of everything I like about the bosses in this series. It has a super simplistic and exploitable moveset, and is only hard because of the absurd amount of health and damage it has. Being optional is no excuse for being so poorly designed.
Devil May Cry 2 is pretty notorious for being a bad game overall, and several of the bosses fundamentally misunderstand the hack-and-slash genre entirely. Infested Chopper is probably the most infamous example. First of all, it's a helicopter that's been infested by demon goo, which is the dumbest concept ever. It's comprised of like 4 or 5 phases of shooting at it from afar with a gun while standing still because none of its attacks will likely hit you; there are also bad platforming sections. Also the final boss is literally just every other boss in the game put into a pile
Surprised gasha didn't take the place for nioh 1, it ignores block, has no tells, does unfair damage, doesn't let you lock on, and can start a attack out of no where.
I love Mortal Shell but the final boss The Unchained is terrible imo. It looks cool with the whole whirlpool phase but due to massive health pool , constant adds being spawned in , it becomes boring fast.
I can definitely agree with dragon God and bed of chaos being on this list but not as much for the "gank" bossfight listed as there's a summon or two for a reason which I used them and don't care because I only use summons as a distraction while I'm the heavy hitter/tank mix and sure you could say "that's just easy mode" but no, they were put there for a reason and with the run you have to make to get there(petrify buildup) you'll likely die anyway so making that excuse is ruled out and I don't care what anyone says. Not saying it's a good or well thought out boss fight but if you don't try to bring a summon with you in there and die that's on you, there's no shame in summoning once in a great blue moon, hell some questlines with NPCs requires it. But in a way I guess said boss fight was interesting as you basically get to fight Havel 2.0 I guess making Havel in Dark souls 3 3.0?
Some of these don't strike me as bad, some just seem to be ones that gave you a hard time, which i tend to enjoy. In the first boss you say "How bad can a boss with only one mechanic be?" But surely a boss with 1 mechanic is very likely to be boring? Yet they were able to use 1 mechanic to make a hectic, fast-paced boss that demands lightning reactions and clever positioning. It gave you a hard time though, so it goes on the list. I'd say my least fav bos is the covertous demon. It rolls around doing slow, low-damage attacks and has low health. It's easier and more boring than a lot of the normal enemies. The bosses that really challange me and throw interesting challanges like multiple bosses or "gank bosses" are the ones that i enjoy the journey of trying to defeat the most. You have some great points though and I agree with multiple entries on the list. That nemesis one looks like it genuinely sucks lol
I find hard bad bosses worse than easy bad bosses, yes. But their inclusion isnt for being just hard, but more for just being bad. I love hard, complex fights.
@@magicat7356Maybe i was unfair with my wording, I think my main difference in view is that I love overwhelming (even frustrating) fights with lots going on. I think with ganks specifically, I love how careful you have to be, but also how quickly it can turn into a mad scramble of lightning reactions and instinct. The zone i get into when dodging 2 or 3 bosses at the same time, and then the focus of making that space and circling them, waiting for the next frantic oppitunity. I just love them tbh. I can see why they frustrate people, but for me personally, i wish there were more of them.
@@bluesun5429Thanks for clarifying, and sure everyone's got their preferences. I think you're in the minority for enjoying fights like that but I'm glad you got something out of them
Arkham from DMC3 is definitely up there. Terrible design that makes it hard to read it's attacks, you have the eel adds that drag the fight and of course it takes away your DT and style attacks half way through
Valiant Gargoyles is even more insulting, since it basically works with the same concept as the Demon Prince fight from DS3, which is probably the most underrated fight in that game, and just makes it insufferable. There’s no real distinction between which of the enormous enemies you’re fighting is being the primary aggressor, and while getting hit with the poison in the Demon Prince fight is actually much worse, since it inflicts that game’s version of Scarlet Rot, it still has a fair tell that allows you to reliably avoid it if you’re paying attention. Even 1v1, the gargoyles are way less enjoyable to fight than a single demon. The worst part is that while with Godskin Duo you have cover and can pick good moments to DPS the shit out of one of them, or as with the Crucible gank both enemies are just slow, heavy hitters with limited range options, you don’t have any of these with the gargoyles
I've played the games, nioh 1&2, bloodborne, doom eternal and doom 2016, here are my 10 top worst. 10.) Ishida, glass canon with terrible grab, 9.) Lady osakbea, offscreen projectiles, 8.) Yamato no ordachi, 7.) Great centipede, 6.) Sasuke and sanada gank, 5.)nine tail fox and her son, 4.) Gasha the terrible, 3.) Icon of sin, 2.) Rom the vacuous spider, 1.) Host of the nightmare,
I guess they did tweak Bed of Chaos so that the two side targets at least stay destroyed between attempts. Good luck doing all of it in one go. Absolute trash of a boss, sadly.
The sides always stayed dead, even waaaaaaay back when it first came out pre-pc on consoles. Shows how bad it is lol I hate it even more for that. I HATE when bosses get checkpoints mid fight. Hate hate hate it. So even though it’s probably better for players because that segment would be awful in one go… I still hate it even more because you keep progress.
Honestly I think me beating the bed of chaos first try would probably be my best achievement playing any of the souls games. Just go wear the most protective armor you have and get the best shield in your inventory and hope that you have enough stamina to tank those swats
Yuki onna and oda nobunaga is the boss fight I hate the most. I died more times to this gank fight than I did to melania. The pentacle of bs in my opinion.
I know this is a mostly souls like worst boss fights but god damn does master gee the invincible from borderlands 2 take the cake for one of the worst bosses in a game for me. It’s such a painfully slow and boring fight especially on repeat attempts.
I think that absolute radiance deserves the hollow knight spot over flukemarm. It is filled with basically nothing but what I'd argue are the two worst things you can put in a video game boss, downtime, and rng. I have beaten it many times and can still beat it around half the time, but i still despise it
I'd say there's one worse boss in Elden Ring, but that one becomes an issue only under specific restrictions that the game never forces upon you: The Tree Sentinel Duo while on foot and making sure both of them are after you at all times. You have no reason to ever engage with this boss in this manner, and you never should because these bosses lack the passive AI behaviour that everyone else has when in groups. This results with the two bosses attacking and chasing you non-stop, overlapping attacks and creating numerous frame traps that result with gameplay consisting of running away and waiting for very specific attacks to create safe punishable windows. And because the AI likes to get caught on the walls they tend to teleport away, meaning if you follow the specific restrictions you have to run back to their spawn spot to re-engage with the boss while the other one is chasing you and about to catch up to you with an off screen attack. Basically it's a pvp gank simulator, teaching you that all you can do is run away and punish very specific windows that only occur sometimes. But since this fight becomes this horrible only under these specific rules, it technically doesn't exist. Why would anyone ever do the fight in such a manner, especially while aiming to not get hit once...
Tree Sentinel can be fought one on one, and it is very consistent. Wether you want to fight them both is always your responsibility. Vanguard Duo is bad no matter you use Spirit Summons or not.
I tried fighting them both at once a few times, and I couldn't agree more. They are both insanely aggressive at the same time, it's impossible to fight them both. And I even enjoyed a lot of Elden Ring's duo boss fights.
I like Gideon! I dislike how beating Malenia kinda ruins his fight. Every Demi god you beat he gets more moves and stronger. Then after Malenia he gets the bloom move and starts spamming it. He’s waaaaay more dangerous without it. Without Malenia dead he’s like a bullet hell wizard. With her dead it’s just waiting for him to do that move a few times.
@@wr5488 despite the bosses you've killed, he's always a bullet hell wizard, he just doesn't have the stupid ass rings. Also if you're trying to beat the game ASAP, he becomes the most bs boss in gaming.
Gideon is horrid. My pick for worst boss in Elden Ring. The worst part is the Triple Rings of Light spam, it's nearly impossible to dodge. At least he's pretty easy to cheese with Sorcery of the Crozier.
@@carlschrappen9712 yeah I completely agree. I have killed all 165 boss twice and Gideon has been the worst both times. Bottom 3 worst bosses in video gaming.
Really, do you think Valiant Gargoles gank is worse than the Du Crucible Knights? I honestly think that the Bed of Chaos is less awful than the Duo Crucible Knight, there is no way that fight was tested before release, or FromSoftware really want to give the finger to the players
crucible knight duo isn't a good fight at all but the hate for it is overblown especially with the gank fight patch from ages ago. valiant gargoyles haven't changed at all and still do not work together as a duo at all
Personally, I think duo Crucible Knights are one of the best Elden Ring gank bosses. I find it pretty easy to separate them and find safe opportunities to get hits off.
Wait, forgot someone, 10.) Lady osakbea, 9.) Yamato no ordachi, 8.) Great centipede, 7.) Sanada and sasuke 6.) Nine tail fox and her son, 5.) Gasha the terrible, 4.) Rom the vacous spider, 3.) Host of the nightmare, 2.) Oda and yuki, 1.) Icon of sin.
I change my mind on icon of sin, add elizabeth from ninja gaiden 2, awakened alma from ninja gaiden 1, and duo and single spider tank boss, all helicopter and trex boss from ninja gaiden razor's edge, the first Is the worst boss in gaming, and remove great centipede from the list, it's not so bad
All of these bosses are better than prowling magus and the congregation lol Also have you fought the true final boss of lords of the fallen? It’s one of the best soulslike bosses
Maybe a crazy unpopular opinion but Valiant Gargoyles is one of the 15ish Elden Ring fights I like. I think they’re better than most bosses by a mile. Also a fan of Lud/Zallen. I HATE DS2 Gargoyles though, that was my least favorite Fromsoft mob boss by a mile. Like they’re by far my least favorite Fromsoft fight period.
I wouldn't put Dragon God (consistent puzzle boss and look good, nothing great, nothing awful) and Lud and Zallen (I like this fight, it's medicore, but much better than most DS2 boss fights) here. Also Bed of Chaos wouldn't be my number one. Yes, it's bad, but they tried. They tried to do something different and creative. I give them credit for that. For me the worst boss is Ancient Wyvern from Dark Souls 3. I can't even... Just why? There is also Capra Demon and his doggos. Aldia, DS2 duo tron fight, DS2 both rat fights, Micolash and Chalice Dungeon Giant with chains... Ancient dragon. Witch of the Lake and Architect from Salt and Sanctuary. Some Hollow Knight Pantheon 5 bosses... Deathbirds (that stronger, annoying version), both ER Commanders...
From Dark Souls 2 I would also add boss from Crown of the Iron King - Blue Smelter Demon. Not only reskin, but path to that boss is just bad - unfortunately a common DS2 trait, where a signficant number of paths to bosses is just bad, either very long or crawling with enemies. "Multiplayer" arenas extended this to an absurd. From Lords of the Fallen I am kinda surpised you did not add The Iron Wayfarer and Andreas of Ebb - Human boss fights done as bad as it can be done. Crampy arenas, lots of effects, quite resistant, no room for error or to move a bit. Not to mention lack of moment to heal. From Wo Long I would add Aoye aka Button-mashing destroyer of framerate.
I think that is mainly because the Dark Souls II bosses on this list are mostly multiplayer optional bosses that are best done with friends and summons because you can work together in the run up to the boss. But when done as a single player run, these run ups are unbearable with the most bearable one being Sir Alonne, mainly because the run up is actually the easiest one especially if one has a heavy armour and heavy weapon build. But the Gank Squad is not all that fun and Lud and Zallen just has a silly boss run that I do like the idea of, just in execution it doesn't work as well as it should.
@@lordjustinian2913 Run to Sir Alonne is bad. Sorry, but squeezing througth these knights is frustrating. Also, these run ups are bad ALWAYS. They are either bad alone or in group
@@r3dn3ck3r3 I 100% disagree, it is only bad if you are running through every enemy. Dark Souls II has a mechanic which is 13 kills and no respawning happens unless you are a part of a specific covenant. So the way to play Dark Souls II is to kill every enemy on your way to the boss, this will then lead to either you defeating the boss or eventually the depletion of your enemies, so then after that you have a clear run to the boss.
@@lordjustinian2913Make stupid game choice for a Souls-like to cover other stupid game choice. That how I see "kill enemies till despawn to clear overpopulated and overcomplicated paths to boss". I don't buy this explanation. Look at other games in the franchise (or Elden Ring/Sekiro) and somehow they were able to do pretty decent paths to bosses without such stupid gimmick.
My least favourite boss ever is easily arkham from dmc 3 Not only does it come before one of the best fights ever made and ruins the endgame of dmc 3. Not only does it have a shit design, not only is it a disappointing fight for such a hyped up character, not only does it have awfully slow and janky animations, not only does it have annoying homing spiky dildos, not only are the dolphins actual nightmares to deal with without kalina ann. But it also somehow makes vergil lame, by the game giving you him as an annoying helper that takes your only healing opportunity (Devil trigger, unless if you count items but that’s for pussies), and more over is annoying to just control manually. Like, how do you make VERGIL, lame and annoying
I liked it! Malus I’m assuming? The lightning bolt guy? The end where you’re holding onto his head is sooooo intense. If you’re talking about the Dormin sequence at the end… then yeah it sucking is the point, that’s your ‘reward’ and the real good guys swoop in to save the day.
@@wr5488 yeah malus, my problem with him is the climbing takes forever and there’s barely any time to jump off his hand and when you fall you have to climb for a few mins to get back on top, and when you get hit at the beginning the time it takes to get back up is so slow you just get hit again. Tbh I didn’t like most bosses in terms of gameplay but the visuals and music were great.
@@trutyatces8699 by terrible I mean unfun not scary or hard. It’s just climbing and every time you fall or get hit it takes forever to get back to where you were
That's the problem: not everybody has enough points in Dex or Onmyo to shoot them with ranged attacks. And of course rng is a big factor in those unpredictable boss fights.
I'll take Bed of Chaos anyday over Royal Rat Authority. That boss fight will threaten the hairlines of anyone who try to fight it. Edit : At least the lore behind BoC is interesting

And what I absolutely hate about Osakabe is she follows the best boss in the game, to go from Shuten Douji to a fucking Gimmick fight where the gimmick is you’re fucked on all sides like an asain schoolgirl… Osakabe killed my Nioh 2 run, and I almost never finished the game because of her. She’s an awful boss but after Wo Long she’s considerably better than a number of those fights.

U forgot mist noble from sekiro
You know it's gonna be a horrible game when they have to sponsor UA-camrs with it, instead of it selling itself
Can we please get a more in depth explanation on why great centipede Is awful.
9:17 It is not. Elden Ring is overrated to the extreme and their boss battles are BS of how much boring they are. I mean it.
Ehrm, Magicat, you forgot about this boss from this game I played!
I’m gonna flank you
And I’m gonna fight you
I’m going to gank you as part of a double bossfight
It seems you haven’t considered the fact that he probably hasn’t played it himself
Preceptor Miriam is lucky she doesn't count as a boss otherwise Bed of Chaos would have some serious competition
He/She is at least consistent to punish and attack, it's not as RNG as some may think. Bed of Chaos has no competition, period. Dragon God and Ancient Wyvern are cancer, but are slightly more bearable than BoC.
Never.... Sorry, nothing goes in close in being as bad as Bed of Chaos. Even final boss from Lords of the Fallen.
Preceptor Miriam was fun…
@@YungTigris While I don't think she's the greatest, people seems to not learn how to deal with NPC invaders. She's unique and fun though.
His fight is whatever but as a character he does not even remotely deserve this list.
That stupid fire shield mechanic is awful.
@@firstorderblade4432 Hence why it's a boss fight tier list and not boss character tier list.
For real, the Gargoyles in ER are the best gargoyles in Soulsborne, both in their moveset and spectacle. Which makes the Duo fight even worse.
The roar on the axe/twinblade BBK applying the Black Blade DoT is annoying, but otherwise I wholly agree.
@@enman009nah Gargoyles in DS1 are much better imo
BBK is fun to fight, I prefer fighting the forbidden lands variant though, the terrain for the dragonbarrow one makes the fight so janky.
I know another boss that could easily be added to the top of the list.
Delirium from the Binding of Isaac. A boss:
- with one original animation
- who randomly transforms shape between bosses you've already fought in the run but they are sped up
- is a spammy bullet hell
- has one of the largest boss health pools in the game
- has boss armor so that your damage is capped and the fight drags on
- does double damage because it's a late game boss
- as it takes damage, will get faster, more aggressive and teleport more often
- is actually a secret final boss
- and worst of all, Delirium can and will telefrag you.
As of Repentance, and since Isaac is a roguelike, Delirium must be killed 34 times, at minimum, to complete a save file, once per character. Honestly, I'd rather fight every boss on this list, except Bed of Chaos, rather than Delirium.
Tainted lost 🥶😥😰
Also just because I hate them. Baby plum
Save the telefragging I kinda like delirium idk
But we still love him (them) despite their flaws. ❤️
I love the concept of Deli but I would love a big rework, same concept but better execution.

Micolash could have even worse gameplay and I'd still like him for his voice acting, dialogue, ost and general vibe. He's Majestic!
I was literally thinking the same thing (although i haven't played Dark Souls):
1. Has a one shot attack
2. Has a stunlock attack
3. You have to guide him to his arenas through a foggy labyrinth, because he forgot where they were
4. Talks random stuff all the time (and screams for some resaon)
5. Not a fun fight
@@Saarck1 bed of chaos
10:31 the thing I hated the most about gargoyles fight was that they can use that poison breath attack while you're riposting the other one, effecitvely making it unavoidable and depending on your health, unavoidable death
Adyr, an actual god that you can't fight, can only interact with through a different ending that kinda stinks (in my opinion) and even when you do "beat" him the reward is being Thanos dusted by the other god. Also, the remembrance is in a completely different area...pain. Such wasted potential
Nice.
Love seeing lists by you.
I really wish these gank fights went to the Demon Prince school, easily the best gank fight ever made.
Hryst & Myst, Abyss Watchers, Friene and Ariandel>
Ds3 cooked on gank fight
@@firstorderblade4432Yeah, phase 2 Pontiff is also really good, and phase 2 also Friede works well.
The first black rabbit fight has you damage the big guy, causing a miniboss to drop a
every 30% of hp or so.

I actually managed to beat Nemesis on Inferno mode, spending 40+ attempts
The worst thing about this fight is inability to get up fast enough to dodge second hit, which leads to situations when you are punished twice in a row and instantly dead
Nice video! I generally agree
The gank squad, which is responsible for one of my life's low points: a low level, no healing, no parry challenge run of the game, where this boss took me over 200 attempts.
Why the clown puppet?
Agree about the DMC 2 picks though haha

A boss with Dark Souls like attacks in a game where there is no dodge, block, or parry button.
Just amazing
Yeah that final fight sucks, but not quite bottom 10 worthy for me. And yeah I love resident evil
Nioh 2 is an amazing game, but i despise Lady Osakabe. Luckily you only have to fight her in her one specific mission.
Currently stuck on the centipede in Nioh. That weird crawl always gets me
my favourite game "Vampire: the masquerade - bloodlines" (quite a niche game so im not expecting it to be on here) has some pretty offensively terrible bossfights. The worst one i fought is definitely Ming Xiao
See this game is an RPG with a skill points system for combat which would usually be fine. However all of the bossfights are in the latter half of the game, and it only actually gets hard at the very end. So its very conceivable that players just haven't invested into combat at that point. Worse, these fights massively favour ranged combat, which is something that basically doesnt have a use early game because of the heavy skill point investment to make guns not suck
With ming xiao its very possible that players get borderline softlocked because they haven't invested enough into ranged combat. Not only that, it's a 5 minute bullet sponge fight where she just spams 2 different attacks at you and occasionally makes clones of herself, and takes off a massive chunk of your healthbar every time you get hit
I genuinely just had no idea how to beat it, I had to look up tutorials. Basically all of the actual ways to beat her just feel like cheese- circle strafe around her and exploit the ai until she just dies. its not too bad once you know how to cheese it but its still horribly tedious
Again, I love this game to death but I'm not defending those bossfights
I remember in DS1 I came to a point where I was always able to no hit Bed of Chaos, every time I replayed it, I understood the intended mechanic, the boss is not that bad designed, I already forgot though. 😅
zhang rang isnt nearly as bad if you know the gimmick to the fight is the continous posture depletion on each clone. if you kill one of them the next one you attack has the same posture as the previous one was left with so the trick is to jump from one clone to the next as fast as you can making it a glorified dps test. it still sucks, but less so if you play the way the devs intended i guess.
have you considered playing salt and sancrtuary?Would love to see a boss or area ranking from you.

You could fill the whole list with Dark Souls 2 bosses... what a bunch of shit bosses.
0:42 armoured spider my beloved
Bro im still pissed about the dmod ER boss ranking, like between fire giant and Elden beast, it's insulting
Finally some lud and zallen hate they are so underhated
Godskin duo or the duo crucible knights would be the obvious picks from ER for me, they epitomise the problem with the ganks in that game (though the Valiant Gargoyles were a damn good pick, that fudging poison gas is so annoying)
nah, crucible duo was actually fun since you can flex your parrying skills on them.
I like how you fairly got destroyed for being wrong about the crucible knights
And this is a good thing? If it's intended it's even worse!
@@magicat7356 of course it is worse. but it is no error, it is functionally bad
I actually think Lud and Zallen are worse than Bed of Chaos
Just to think about it:
1) a reskin of a boss from the same DLC
2) an unispired gank fight
3) bullshit hitboxes
4) their skin breaks any weapon before the fight is over
5) runback is the embodiment of crap
6) stupidly high damage output and regeneration of second tiger
At least Bed of Chaos is original and can be cheesed
I don't think originality counts for anything when it gives us something as bad as BoC, which barely engages with the combat system, has horrible hitboxes, bullshit instakills, a bad runback of it's own, and drops the floor out from you in a game without a dedicated jump button. Being easier/cheesable is definitely a positive, but not enough to outweigh everything else IMO.
Lud and Zallen definitely come close, I just can't see them or anything else dethroning BoC as the worst boss in the series.
I'm so torn right now with Wo Long's Lu Bu. He's a spectacular boss but feels like a university level exam when you're still a highschooler.
Nah he's amazing
How is godskin duo and black rabbit brotherhood from Lies of P not here?
Devil May Cry 2 is pretty notorious for being a bad game overall, and several of the bosses fundamentally misunderstand the hack-and-slash genre entirely. Infested Chopper is probably the most infamous example. First of all, it's a helicopter that's been infested by demon goo, which is the dumbest concept ever. It's comprised of like 4 or 5 phases of shooting at it from afar with a gun while standing still because none of its attacks will likely hit you; there are also bad platforming sections. Also the final boss is literally just every other boss in the game put into a pile
How can you put Flukememarm in this list when it has some of the most peak game design in terms of how it looks and sounds. It’s absolutely perfect
Ds2 gank squad is much worse then bed of chaos. Bed of chaos at least has an excuse of being a rushed development. Gank squad was in a DLC
What about my mate, Dave? He's got this stupid shovel move that has a silly hitbox.
Couldnt agree more with both nemesis inferno. Actual garbage on that difficulty
So happy to see the RE3 Remake final boss on here. On nightmare difficulty it's like just stupid
Every time i am about to play DS1 again i pick up the controller, remember BoC and just stop
I would like to know what’s YOU think is the worst shot for every Cuphead boss in YOUR OWN opinion (The one you had was polled)
The black brotherhood 2nd encounter is definitely one of the worst ones IMO.

The sides always stayed dead, even waaaaaaay back when it first came out pre-pc on consoles.
Shows how bad it is lol
I hate it even more for that. I HATE when bosses get checkpoints mid fight. Hate hate hate it. So even though it’s probably better for players because that segment would be awful in one go… I still hate it even more because you keep progress.
You're correct but I'm pretty sure they changed that in playtesting and it wasn't originally planned to be this way. It just sucked too much.

Tbh, totally forgot about you. But in the end, our souls merch to besit the throne.
Reasonable list. Comedians will still come running to defend these bosses BTW
Headless ape duo is a good gank fight
I'd say there's one worse boss in Elden Ring, but that one becomes an issue only under specific restrictions that the game never forces upon you:
The Tree Sentinel Duo while on foot and making sure both of them are after you at all times.
@@ad-hh3we I did manage to do it without taking any damage on NG+7, but it wasn't fun. It was just torturous, a boring test of patience.

Gideon sucks. It's just there's only so many bad bosses you can put in a top 10 list
Surprised not to see Witches of Hemwick.
I don't think that's THAT bad
For real, she's almost as awful as Dragon God, but I think Nicholas and Rom are far worse.
Only two things in life are certain: Death and Bed of Chaos being number 1 in the Worst Boss ranking
Really, do you think Valiant Gargoles gank is worse than the Du Crucible Knights? I honestly think that the Bed of Chaos is less awful than the Duo Crucible Knight, there is no way that fight was tested before release, or FromSoftware really want to give the finger to the players
Or you can try using hit and run instead of nerfing the fights for the entire community of a game you are going to quit playing regardless.
crucible knight duo isn't a good fight at all but the hate for it is overblown especially with the gank fight patch from ages ago. valiant gargoyles haven't changed at all and still do not work together as a duo at all
Personally, I think duo Crucible Knights are one of the best Elden Ring gank bosses.
A lot of those are solid in my opinion
I change my mind on icon of sin, add elizabeth from ninja gaiden 2, awakened alma from ninja gaiden 1, and duo and single spider tank boss, all helicopter and trex boss from ninja gaiden razor's edge, the first Is the worst boss in gaming, and remove great centipede from the list, it's not so bad
All of these bosses are better than prowling magus and the congregation lol
Also have you fought the true final boss of lords of the fallen?
I love this magical kitten
Best boss list I’ve ever seen
Man, I agree wholeheartedly with Lady Osakabe! I hate that boss with great sincerity!
bro came back
From Dark Souls 2 I would also add boss from Crown of the Iron King - Blue Smelter Demon.
Blue Smelter is actually a decent fight though, with different timings from the og. I always like fighting it, even if I hate the runback.
My least favourite boss ever is easily arkham from dmc 3
Not only does it come before one of the best fights ever made and ruins the endgame of dmc 3.
I know this isn’t a soulslike but the final boss of shadow of the colossus was terrible
Never played the game, but isn't that kind of the point?
It’s just climbing and every time you fall or get hit it takes forever to get back to where you were
@@sobky6378 Exactly. The entire point is that it is not supposed to be fun. You are supposed to feel like a bad person for even playing.
Weird, I didn't have any issues with Lady Osakabe. First playthrough and took me like 3 tries. Ninjustu and dual swords just melt her.
That's the problem: not everybody has enough points in Dex or Onmyo to shoot them with ranged attacks. And of course rng is a big factor in those unpredictable boss fights.
@@TheSandkastenverbot I only used ninjutsu spells up close. She's really not too hard as long as you are mobile.
I'll take Bed of Chaos anyday over Royal Rat Authority. That boss fight will threaten the hairlines of anyone who try to fight it.
Edit : At least the lore behind BoC is interesting
Adyr is such a letdown, so much potential wasted...
No way Bed of Chaos is worse than Lud and Zallen and Gank Squad
Ok you've played hollowknight, and you showed a clip so I'm saying it anyways. FLUKEMARM OVER MARKOTH BRO WHAT?? I agree with what you said about flukemarm but like... ITS MARKOTH 😭must I say more?
ok putting that rant aside great video!!
I honestly don't think adyr is that bad
My personal worst boss is the final boss from Ninja Gaiden 3
Try the emperor on insane difficulty in clone drone in the danger zone it is utterly horrible
Would u ever rank the original nioh bosses? It’s not perfect but the base game is pretty good. The dlc however is like frigid outskirts extended into many many hours.
Where is Ancient Dragon??
The lords if the fallen reboot final boss might be the actual worst final boss of all time
You must play Lies of P
I shall put rom as number 2
Markoth…
Gasha-dokuro is worse than Great Centipede IMO if we’re talking shit Nioh bosses
Half of DS2 bosses would go into this list for me. That game either has bangers or garbage, no in between imo.
Im the only gargoyle duo fan ever it seens
Adyr is A-Tier!!!
S tier now!!!!
Adyr is honestly not that bad
Greatest boss fight ever
