Villanova was absolutely unstoppable this year. Nobody was beating them. Kansas didn’t even play a bad game, Villanova was 3 levels above every team in the country that year.
Dylan Lear they attacked the basket more than Kansas. They also made way more 3pts. They are a balanced team that can do it all. They can beat you off the dribble, have players who can pass, have players who can beat you inside, have players who can drain shots right in your face, have players that can hustle and rebound, they play defense. One of the most solid teams of the last 20 years

Well, considering Villanova had 39(?) points in 3 pointers in just the first half, I'd say Kansas did as well as can be expected. Why they continued to double team drives with them raining in the threes is beyond me. They shoulda left the big man by himself and covered the arc instead.
It probably won't happen, but what if everyone on this NOVA team returns for next year, plus adding the best shooter in this years class , one of the best point gaurds, and an elite athletic wing. Not to mention the continued development of spellman, roundtree and gillipsie. Even if bridges leaves, next years NOVA team could be even better, and literally unstoppable.
Looking back at it now, the Nova Squad had promising NBA players on their roster and them playing in Nova's fast pace and space system really helped their development when they transitioned to the league. Brunson, Paschall, Bridges, DiVincenzo, and Spellman.

No, that was the worst defensive coaching I have ever seen as a KU fan. Self can't coach to defend the 3. On almost ever 3 pt shot, all 5 of our defenders are well inside the 3pt line. Villanova almost always had 4 players set up outside the 3pt line.
In my life, considering all the factors, game, opponent, etc., there have been 3 teams during an 8-12 minute stretch that I've seen play unbelievable basketball. This year's UConn team in the final 12 minutes against Alabama in the Final Four, Baylor in 2021 in the first 10 minutes of the championship game against Gonzaga, and this Villanova team in the first 8 minutes again Kansas where you put any team in the country against them during that stretch and they would have blown them out the door, no matter how well the opponent had played.

What I think went down was that Nova recognized the power and strength of Azubuike and his defensive skills that have been woven into Kansas and decided to work more on their threes knowing that Kansas would give them a run for their money if they didn't. All in all this was a great game to watch and it almost felt like an NBA game, except it had defense instead of just scoring.
