the soundtrack still gives me chills to this day, its like a combination of new vs old. Guerrilla vs overwhelming military force, it perfectly conveys the Arma 3 campaign
I'd highly recommend lightweight mods like Better Inventory, Advanced Garbage Collector, Death & Hit Reactions and Project SFX. Maybe even Dynamic Camo System. These are a must for me.
I definitely agree with playing with the graphics before starting. The optimization really is my biggest gripe with A3 but you can get it good enough if you play around with the settings. Unfortunately for me, I am a sucker for beautiful firefights and explosions so most of the time I am playing with 15 - 30 FPS with the Blastcore mod
Back after 4 years with 900 hrs in. This helped. Looking for mods to assist with mechanics and looks, but I see all the old ones are still doing the rounds!
Good video man! I'm a new player myself so I always appreciate content like this!(Also for a tip get a sound mod, the performance decrease isn't even visible and I've got a crappy laptop so anyone with a desktop should have no problem, it just makes the game so much more immersive).
Play the VR training and Campaign before jumping into Multiplayer. You can actually learn how the game & controls work before going into an online gamemode where you may be pressured into being relied upon.
Good info, useful as always. A personal note to new players: Be careful not to get too hooked on Mods. Before you know it, you'll be running hundred(s) and still looking for the perfect piece. For all you hard core active, reserve or ex military, attention to detail.can be a suspension of disbelief. This is war...
I wish someone told me this earlier, i quit arma 3 a while back because i was loading 70+ mods and kept re configuring everything over and over again, eventually I couldnt take the load times. Might pick it back up with this philosophy tho
True in fact my Arma 3 is heavily modified and takes a bit of a long time to load because of the many mods I put in it but at least gameplay is ok without any lag at all ;)
Great video! One tip I would give new players that want to play online is to join an organized group. Playing with such a group is much more rewarding that playing with random players.
Hey man, I love you vids. Always consistently informative and entertaining, just great all round. I normally love when you timestamp your videos so revisiting is easier, but saw this one didn't. Please don't give it up man, it's so helpful!
so arma is weird, and for many people, having your settings on ultra improves performance lol, also i would highly advise getting CH View Disance, it allows you to quickly and easily change your view distance and your terrain quality incase you start getting lag in areas, that way you dont have to waste time in the settings
From 30 secs it truly sounds like a grand score. Very nice. It makes the video going and you really want to watch the whole thing. Im not playing ARMA even :D Squad
I'll say before watching the rest, I have a semi-beast pc (it was a beast a few years ago but not anymore) and I play with everything in ultra, with a hdd. No fps drops unless I'm specifically going for it, and I have vision and objects up to 12km so it's not a deal breaker if you don't have an ssd. I'm sure it's much better period. But it does work fine for me
I just bought this game like 2 weeks ago and just started playing this week. And I can not find any nodded servers. I just bought the basic game from Steam. So i've switched over to reforger until I could figure out how to play arma 3
:) your welcome and I still manage decent FPS anywhere between 40-60 FPS but load times yeah well you already said it in the vid they take a quick minute :P Also awesome vid I was thinking of doing something similar but how to get started/play arma 3 instead.
Dang, I failed step 1 lmao. I downloaded this game yesterday and I wanted to save space on my SSD so figured I'd install this game on my HDD since it was an older game. 😅
does anyone have any good suggestions for all out war missions? Something with huge replayability would be great. I really like evannex and liberation.
Are the technical recommendations on the steam page realistics for this game ? I have no gaming PC so I really rely on this information. I have a better CPU than the recommended one, but I don't know if the recommendation is reallistic. And I have a worse GPU than the recomended, but it's still better than the minimum required. Also to mention, I'm okay with using no mods if that can improve the performances, and I only inted to play singleplayer at first.
Im writing this comment before I finished the video. Im planning on buying this on discount soon, and people are saying there are ads during the game, and it lags really bad. I have a 2012 workstation gpu, and 16gb of ram, so will it work? And is the ads thing true?
Ads in the game? No. Lmao I dunno what that even means. Only time it would prompt you to buy anything is if you were using an asset from a DLC that you don’t own, and that’s rare. I would say you’d probably struggle on a 2012 rig.
Hey viper1zero I’m building a gaming pc (high end) and i have purchased arma3 on steam ready for when its built. I would like your advice on which ssd i should load both arma3 and steam as you said it is very cpu dependent during this video. My intent was to use the 4tb connected to the GPU (4090) but i will also have a 4tb connected to 13900ks on a godlike z790 mb. Thanks.
@@nannertime thanks nannertime they are both m.2 SSD’s but one is from cpu & the other from chipset. I got the impression that one would be more direct and therefore load faster.
I concur with Nanner! Honestly at those speeds, Arma 3 will run great on either one. If you happen to have Arma 3 and most Steam games loaded on the SSD that doesn't have your OS on it. Your OS is already taxing, so have the programs running on a separate drive from the OS has always saved me performance in the past. I try to keep my OS drive as clear as possible.
@@Viper1Zero thanks viper1zero for your time and advice, my apologies if my question was somewhat off topic but I’m just an old guy looking for a hobby and found exactly what I want to put my money and time into. Your advice is exactly what I needed to know for that and other downloads. Im currently waiting for VIRPIL helicopter kit to arrive and actively saving for a rig to attach them, Im going to go for the monstertek rig as it will give me flexibility from helicopter to fighter jet and possibly my other passion F1 all on one rig. As I progress my 1st stop for knowledge on the game are your tutorials for that I also say thanks.
Personal tips: 1. have at least 15-20m distance between vehicles in multi-player convoys 2. rebind grenade throw from G to double G 3. do NOT stay close to a goober with a deadman switch. 4. do the bootcamp and play some invade & annex multiplayer before joining any units 5. probably don't do PvP because FPS and latency is ####### awful
Hello, my brother, I really like you and your way of presenting. I have an idea that I want to present to you. 90% of the fun in Arma 3 is with the ZUSE system. So, would you please make a video presentation with the mods that improve ZUSE?
Arma player with 3000 hours, but still love to watch any Guide video. Love the video, love the "5 Things To Do" If i may say this tho. You could of added the mods into 1 "5 Things To Do". I feel like new players should find mods that improve the overall gameplay, enhanced movement, recoil animation, SOG AI, ACE3 (without medical maybe), soundscape, reduced haze, etc, those types of mods are awesome! And i highly advise newplayers look for those types of mods.
Most likely because of the editor, and the number of controls, the format and structure of the controls are linear in a sense that though you can rebind each control, by default theres way to many controls to even be functional for a gamepad or controller. Then you have the mod system which was soley designed for pc download, but imo if you really want to play Arma 3 get a decent pc with a good cpu, lots of ram, and the game on an SSD.
What I did at first was join a milsim group who helped me learn and master this game. My main problem was the performance, but after this video I learned that ssd is much faster than hard drives. Thank you!
Good, informative video. But I've been happily playing on the 'wrong' video settings for years. Hmmm... and this Zeus malarcky just doesn't do it for me. I spend most of my time in Eden. And I have it all loaded onto an HDD... but fully agree that an SSD would have made for a much snappier experience. I may bring out my own UA-cam video: 'DON'T do this before you start Arma 3 in 2023'.
As ex-player of Arma 3, with more than 1000 hours on the clock i have to say it - THIS GAME IS DEAD, BECAUSE BEST MODS FOR IT, ARE DEAD. RHS, IFA3 - every big mods are outdated, and doesnt work properly, and without mods, this game is very.... futuristic and too simple in bad way. Lets get a unit together called "Arsenal Barbies" and our COOP runs will be 6 hours. 4 hours for Arsenal love, 2 hours for the actual game.
the soundtrack still gives me chills to this day, its like a combination of new vs old. Guerrilla vs overwhelming military force, it perfectly conveys the Arma 3 campaign
I have not been able to get away from using the soundtrack because I love it so much. Arma 3's OST is easily in my Top 3 game soundtracks ever made.
I wonder what the name is of this OST?
I'd highly recommend lightweight mods like Better Inventory, Advanced Garbage Collector, Death & Hit Reactions and Project SFX. Maybe even Dynamic Camo System. These are a must for me.

I’ve not used portable SSD but as long as the cable transfer allows good data transfer speed (it should via SATA) then I’d say you’d be ok!
