  • / taiwanreporter -- Breathtaking views from the highest outdoor platform (460 meters) in the world, in Taiwan. The Taipei 101 has only recently opened its topmost floor (technically the 102nd, because you go upstairs from the 101st) to the public. I took this video in September 2019.

Amazing - first time I see the use of lines hooked up the railings. Guess it is too calm visitors as well as to prevent incidents. I know my self - I would have been scared up there:) Thanks for sharing this piece of Taiwan:)

It’s for safety indeed, not just for calming. If the wind higher up there suddenly gets too strong, the wind can actually blow people away. Nature is powerful like that and human is light weight.

@@Ricky-ke5qc I know the power of wind from mountains in the north, but seeing it an observation point is first time.

@@ArcticNatureExperiences you can search online for an accident happened to a tall building in mainland China not long ago, strong wind destroyed windows and blew people out of the windows while they are sleeping comfortably at their home. Caused death, it happened to residents living at the higher floor. It’s a thing but rare, therefore almost no one believes.

Hooked lines to prevent drunk tourists from falling over

Dude, that’s awesome! How did you get access to that?

We were there for a TV shoot and got up for free. My impression was that they were quite open to giving free access in exchange for publicity. Otherwise, you could just pay the NT$2700.

I have a question regards the elevator changes to reach the 101st floor. I have been to the 91st floor but I haven't seen elevators going further up. It's 10 floors more I'm sure VVIPs didn't use stairs to get there back then.

Good question. It's been a few years. If I remember correctly, there's a hidden elevator going from the observation deck to the 100th floor.

The 101st floor is opened for visitors in recent years. In the past you can only get to the 91st floor.

Es hilft, dass es hinter dem Geländer nicht senkrecht in die Tiefe geht, sondern dass dort unten noch ein Absatz ist.
