- Our resident Potterhead Lydia Batham sat down with Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein) and Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander) to talk all things Fantastic Beats: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Except she wanted to #ProtectTheSecrets, so instead chatted to them about the fact wand is 'baguette macique' in french, what their hybrid houses would be and how Jude is being labelled #YUMbledore and #DumbleDAMN.

I'm French and I'm sorry for Eddie Redmayne but Norbert (translation of Newt) is a old-fashioned, it's a name of old people like Mr. Flamel ! But Eddie Redmayne cleans up this name, and Norbert is now a very sexy name ! You can pick up with !!

In Dutch the names for the Harry Potter characters can be a bit odd too. We call Dumbledore: Albus Perkamentus. Perkament means parchment. Tom Marvolo Riddle becomes Marten Asmodom Vilijn. Also we call a wand a toverstok, which literally translates to magic stick.
Why can't you simply name them Wand or Dumbledore?
@@kickintoforwardgear5653 Well the wand part would be weird considering that's a very English word and nobody would understand it. Why we translate the names is quite a mystery to me, but I can only guess it has to do so that children who read the books can read it better?
