Thank you! Very useful! People like you saves others a lot of time. One note: After I enabled the modules no additional menu items under Regions and Languages (Multilingual Settings,..) and after some reading I've found out that Configuration->Performance->Clear Cache does the trick ... maybe someone find this useful.
Excellent video, it has been a great help with my my first multilingual site. I am still having trouble translating certain menu items in my main navigation. It's the pre-configured content types like: contact, news, and galleries page, all the content and other menu items are fine.
Hi, thank you very much for the excellent video which saved me a lot of time understanding how the internationalization works. I have one quick question - actually the same question was posted 4 months ago by MarvynDT which is; "When I translate a page and set the menu link, I end up with 2 tabs, 1 for default language (english) and 1 for the translated language. Your video only has 1. What setting did I miss?" I would appreciate it if you would tell me how to resolve this.
Language neutral options are at the content type settings page. Let's say you have a content type called "blog" if so edit the that content type and at the bottom you can find language specific settings there you can enable the language neutral option. You can also set language as strictly specific too. Hope that helps you.
Dear Bright Web Design, Your effort in producing an usefull tutorial is so much appreciated. I followed your instructions step by step and I ended up with the same problem already described by Mite Sterjov, Koichiro Ikawa and MarvynDT. - I create a new basic page in the default language (Italian), - I provide a menu link, specify an URL alias and publish. Then I click on the "translate" tab and translate the page into one of the available languages (in this case: French): - insert new translated title and body, - provide a menu link (with a translated title) - and insert the same URL path than the original page. Result: the menu link of the translated page (French) doesn't appear in the French version menu but in the Italian version (default version). What am I missing? I am looking forward to your reply! Thank you!
Great video. Everything worked for me apart from the block translation when put in a panel. I have changed the block settings in panel to display as a system block but it just does not seem to work. Any suggestions will be very helpful.
Yes you can basically translate anything in Drupal. 1) Make sure that you have enabled translation for all your enabled input format fromhere /admin/config/regional/i18n/strings 2) next go to /admin/config/regional/translate/i18n_string and select the fields and refresh all the strings 3) Finally go to /admin/config/regional/translate/translate here you can translate all your custom views strings. Hope that helps to solve your issues:)
If you maintain the URL technique, though, (en, kr, ja), I think search robots can index more pages in your website. If you point all translations to /test, for example, I think Google or Bing would be confused in which language to show to the user.
Adrian sorry for the late reply and thank you for the comments and suggestions. I will create new tutorial on Taxonomy and it's various use cases including localisation. Stay tuned :)
hey man, Muchas gracias !!!! eres lo maximo !! very good explained, excellent video !! very helpfull !! really thank you... so i have a question, i make a web page only in spanish, and all of pages, panels, and views are en spanish, i add all the traslate module, and active the transte option in all of the contens types, for the new content that i add, the translate tab i ok, but, for the previous contents, i dont see the Tranlate tab, and i can't translate them, is there a solution?
@lekofev It's simple just re-open the nodes/pages you have created & re-save them then you can see the translation tab next to the edit button. Note: Make sure that you have enabled multilingual settings for that content type. Hope that helps to solve your issues. Best Wishes!

+Kedac007 Try this...navigate to main menu and edit it. On the edit page scroll down to multilingual options and select the radio option 'Translate and Localize. Menu items with language will allow translations. Menu items without language will be localized.' Then visit the nodes you translated and save it once and clear cache. This should help.
Hello , I´d like to ask you.. It´s possible to use the Fivestar or Flag modules, in combination with I18n and obtain right results, perhaps something like sincronization of a imagen field..?? Because when I´m voting or flaging a spanish node(nid=1) is diferet that when i do in the "same" English node(nid=2) . Excuse for my bad English.. Thanks very much for your videos !!
Nice tutorial, thanks, but i have the same problem as other users pointed out and haven't seen any solutions in the comments, its the same problem as Koichiro Ikawa and MarvynDT, can you troubleshoot that or something.
It works with any text on your site. You can also install addition modules like "variable" to get more advance translation options. I will get a new tutorial on variable soon :)
