@@JustAnotherLokiStan nahh unfortunately didn't really make the cut because of lack of national tournament placements. Got recruited by Davidson and Wash. & Lee though, very good schools. I'm also still applying to several Ivies anyway.
Not sure if my kid is Ivy League material, but your video was very educational. Didn't realize the process was so involved. My kid is just a rising sophomore, but he's gonna get a ton of baseball scholarship offers in a year, so I gotta get him ready for the onslaught of calls and texts and then visit considerations.
Hey John, great video. Could you talk a bit about how your times progressed throughout high school? I’m currently in 8th grade and my dream is to run at Harvard, and I wanted to know how you progressed throughout your years in high school so I can have an idea of where I need to be year to year. Thanks.
What were your cross country times as you progressed through high school and what is a good time for a cross country runner at Harvard since you run track.
Hey John, I'm from Canada too and I'm wondering if there's any way to get recruited to Ivy League schools through a process which isn't athletics. Obviously there's the normal stream, but aside from that can you get a referral from say the debate or chess team of the Ivy League school, or is it only athletics?
Hey John, I talked to a Harvard coach (in sailing) and since he only gets 1 recruiting spot, he said he'd still really want me as an asset on the team and would be willing to write me a letter of reference attached to my application. Does it really have sway? The internet seems to say that if you're not fully recruited then the letter is meaningless.
Andrew Tran they just changed the rule and idk if it is different between sports but they can talk to you at a university camp if u are invited or after ur sophomore year in hs
Hey John I know I am watching this late but I was wondering how does recruiting with d3 schools work? Is it a similar process or slightly different? I know that schools like MIT and Caltech do not give likely letters to athletes and that athlete's find out the same time as everyone else.
+Meast so the reason I can make these specific videos is because I did get in, and a lot of people are curious how. But I think I would still make videos of some kind--i started this channel as an extension to a communication technology course I was taking, I wanted to develop my skills further. I definitely plan on still making videos in three years but three years is a long time to promise anything.
Thank you for the response! I apologize if I came off offensive or anything. Anyways, I do plan on going to Harvard Law after I complete my studies at the University of Georgia! (That's if I can get in!)
Is it possible for an international student-athlete to get recruited to a school which is need-aware when it comes to financial aid or do coaches avoid such applicants (if they're not eligible for a scholarship)? Thank you!
John - Two questions: if a coach does call you back and asks you to stay in touch, how much of an indication is that they they want to recruit you, in other words, are they calling dozens of other people ? Secondly, any idea how low the Ivies go on SATs for athletes ?
It's a positive signal for sure but they are definitely calling dozens of people. Strongest indicator is if they ask you to come on a visit. Sliding scale on SATs. If you're national champion level, you can probably get away with a 1200? If you're borderline for the team, having a 1500+ will help a huge amount.
Hello jhon fish, I will soon start my freshman year of high school, I have no interest of joining the sport teams, but do you think harvard or any ivy league school will accept robotics as a sport?
What did you run and what was your time? My son runs the 800/1:50 and he is a Junior with a 94 GPA with 1380 SAT... he still has time to get better but where’d to know what should he focus on ? Possibly lowering his time to 1:40?

Hey! Are you experienced in the lacrosse recruiting process? I am interested and was seeing if you can drop me some advices.
Boy make a video about how you trained for the 800m!!!
Thanks for this. I'm aiming to be recruited to (at least) 4 Ivy Leagues for wrestling, and I only have about 9 months left to accomplish this.
Did you get recruited?

This changed my Life.

Just got my first official visit invite 🙏🏾 Idk if I’m smart enough to get an offer 😭😭
Did you do your visit your junior year or senior year?
Smart Music summer before senior year
Does getting a reference letter and not support from the coach mean you're not on the sports team?

Maharshi Desai only athletics
Hey, thanks hearing that you first were ready in early august definitely was encouraging! Trying the same here

Hey John, how early are you allowed to start talking to coaches?
Andrew Tran they just changed the rule and idk if it is different between sports but they can talk to you at a university camp if u are invited or after ur sophomore year in hs
I’m a hockey player btw
For soccer you can talk to D3 coaches starting freshman year of hs and D1 coaches start of Junior year of hs
This helps a lot, thanks!
Thanks buddy, I'm subscribed, I've liked and of course commented
I'm 12 hoping to get into Harvard with my excellent grades and great soccer skills
😊
Me to I'm going to start freshman year in a couple weeks, I wish you good luck.
Meet too! Except I’m on track.
Good luck!

Is there any way to know for sure that the team will support you before you verbally committ?
Does anyone know how good you have to be at basketball to be recruited by Harvard or any IVY league school???

wondering the same. Good question. Let‘s hope we get an answer!
Pr “o” cess? Are you Canadian??
As a Princeton alum, how can I assist in the identity and recruiting process of a promising student athlete without running afoul of the NCAA?
Just email the coach saying you're reaching out to put them in contact with a potential recruit
hey john I wonder if I can be recruited by cycling because as I saw in the web page I cant

Is this applicable to international transfer students as well?
Thank you!
What was your SAT and GPA if i may ask.
Imagine getting into IVY LEAGUE and your first reaction is, you know that brain, I must destroy it by playing football
Lmao maybe the brain damage is worth it for that degree 😂
Is it still possible to be considered even when you’re in college, for example transfer your sophomore year? What is the coach contacting timeline?
if u got an answer for this could you let me know?
I am your 3243 subscriber
Hhey john how long does it usually to receive a response? i sent my email like a 3 days ago

Do u have to be in sports?
Cross country is one of easiest ways to get into any college. if you are good. Many sports being good isnt that meaningful
