Nina knew Carly was marrying Jason while she was slumming it up with Sonny’s amnesiac doppelgänger in Nixon Falls. Sonny and Carly’s marriage wasn’t officially over when Nina slept with Sonny. Sonny wanted BOTH his wife and his girlfriend. He gaslit Carly to not go after Nina. He intentionally made Carly feel guilty about her feelings for Jason when he knew he had feelings for Nina. The fact is Nina has chased after Sonny from the moment they both got back to PC including when he was still married to Carly.

The fact that she was dead has nothing to do with not telling Nina. Plus Valentine is pressuring Carly, for something, to "let go of Nina and Wiley's custody", only to alleviate his guilt when Nina is the one who found out that Sonny was alive (without communicating to Carly, depriving Wiley of her own. grandfather, regardless of the grandson he says he loves), and overcome the fact that Nina, like any hooker, slept with Sonny when he was technically still married. Valentine pressures anyone to get what she wants, but Carly hides behind the fact that Valentine lied about who Sasha was, when SHE and SHE lied to Nina about who Nelle really was.

When it was revealed that Nelle was her daughter, Jax point blank told Nina, "Carly didn't know for sure but I was sure Nelle was your daughter which is why I didn't tell you." Besides Nelle was already dead when Jax knew she was Nina’s daughter. She was very much alive when Valentin used Sasha to lie to Nina. At the end of the day, Nina’s mother is the one to blame for this mess more than anyone else.

Besides, Jax let himself be persuaded by Carly not to say it, with the excuse of "I'm not sure it's Nina's daughter", let's not fool ourselves. The responsibility lay with Carly. It was Carly who made the decisions in the situation, not Jax ... Also Jax didn't tell Nina because Jax has a daughter with Carly, and he thought Nina was going to send Carly to jail as she later tried to get out. Carly had the knife on the side of the handle, NOT Jax.
