The 2017 team felt like a team of destiny because of the underdog story of Nick Foles. This team straight-up annihilated the team of destiny that was the Chiefs. I think that's why it feels different

There was some pixie dust sprinkled on that first one lol.. it was improbable and magical.. but truth is, that team was mostly mercenaries.. they pieced together a bunch of random guys, undervalued by the rest of the league, and got the perfect end result.. go back and look at that roster.. kinda wild..
This current team has been a steady build.. methodical and meticulously planned drafting over the past few years.. every piece makes sense.. and most of the team is under contract through 2028ish.. they were ahead of schedule in that ‘22 SB year.. now they’re right on time.. can’t wait to see what they can put together!

I'm married to a Bengals fan and every other year I would have said that the AFC was the more dominant conference. But this year my Birds beat EVERY AFC team they played. The Birds had one of the hardest schedules in the league this year-and they were the better team all year without needing to run up scores to be flashy. This is the BEST Eagles team I have ever seen in my life. Every Eagles fan knew this was the better team and there was a real feeling the Birds would win by at least two scores all week among the Bleeding Green Nation.

i'm an Eagles fan, so i watched every game and knew just how good the Birds were. but i forget that not everyone was watching them as intently as us Birds fans were, so i guess that it's not shocking that everybody else was so surprised that the Eagles beat the Chiefs. and even though i was confident going into this game, i was still surprised with how thoroughly the Birds humiliated the Chiefs.
also: i think that a lot of people were expecting the Lions to be the NFC's team and were very upset that that didn't happen.

    • @gbmbg114
      @gbmbg114 11 годин тому +3

Yea I agree with all of this.. the noise about the eagles this year (to the non-eagles fans) was more about the coach yelling at fans, AJ Brown “drama”, questioning Hurts as a passer, Kelce being gone and Saquon’s spectacular-ness..
if you weren’t watching closely, you didn’t realize that 2/3 of their losses were one wide open drop away from a win.. and the other one, half the team was out, injured.. and they made Lamar look bad and Burrow look bad and Stafford look bad.. broke the Steelers defense.. and all they cared about was another shot at the ring.. and they were the only team that genuinely WANTED to play the chiefs..

The Eagles were very clearly the better team, I think most people agreed with that even before the game, it was just a matter of the Chiefs somehow finding ways to win despite that. You compare this loss to the one in Tampa, I think it’s clear that “not showing up” is more apt here. The o line really was garbage back then and Mahomes was trying his best, whereas people saying the same thing here just comes off as coping. Sure it’s 40-22 if you count the points that happened after we poured the Gatorade and took out our starters just to shame the chiefs, but we all know it’s 40-6. Historical ass whooping. The chiefs were never a good team, they were a mid team at best that were handed Super Bowl 57 on a silver platter through multiple bad calls from Bradberry to DeVonta Smith being “out of bounds” which took quite a bit of time off the clock. Now the refs only help them a little and the “bad calls” against KC were makeup calls. Look what happens when New York tells the refs no: they suck.
Can’t wait for Dallas to claim it’s their year in a month, but for now I’m just going to enjoy the easiest, most stress free football game I’ve seen in at least the last two years.

Like yeah even as a Chiefs fan i have to whole heartedly admit they got utterly dog walked last night. It does have that Seahawks Broncos SB feel (sorry Perna but it is the comp about this one) and honestly i wasnt even mad we lost or upset. I got to witness my team go from never making a SB my entire lifetime, and 50 years historically without making a Super Bowl, get Alex Smith and Andy Reid and start stabilizing and become a playoff team that yes wasnt bad, but with Peyton Manning in our division and a stacked Denver roster, i mean we were never making it past the divisional round at most, to see us go from that (and the 2-14 season) to being in 5 of the last 6 Super Bowls, winning 3 of them, and going back to back with a chance to 3-peat in this Super Bowl? I reflected on all of it and i was so proud of that.

Before the start of the playoffs, I couldn't shake the feeling that the Eagles were being slept on. They might not have been as sexy of a choice as the Lions, Bills, Vikings, or Ravens, but they felt the most "complete". The best defense in the league by a wide margin (over 30 fewer average yards allowed on defense than the second best defensive team!) combined with an overall top 10 offense (despite having one the absolute worst passing offenses of the year; 29th overall) made for a team without a lot of exploitable weaknesses. They had a bit of a shaky start to their season, but once they started clicking in late October, they won half of their remaining games by two or more scores (and the only team they lost to in the stretch was the Commanders, and even then, only barely). And while their schedule wasn't very difficult (as to be expected when you're in a division with the Giants and Cowboys), they had also proven that they could hang tough with some of the best.
Sure enough, they gave us one of the most dominant NFC Championship and Super Bowl performances in quite some time. Congratulations, Eagles!

they actually didnt blitz once, the eagles front four was just that dominant and the chiefs o line was that outclassed

Yeah, they only needed 4 rushers for it to feel like a blitz

I called it before the game I even wrote it down I said 44-23, just because of how bad we just beat the commanders they were healthy and playing there best football with the best defense.

I know it’s dumb to talk about the refs at this point, but I gotta disagree on the eagles getting more help from the refs.. nobody mentions the illegal forward pass to set up the chief’s 1st touchdown, the many, many missed holding calls (especially on Brandon Graham as he was chasing Mahomes towards the sideline before he hit worthy with that first TD), the were lined up offsides defensively several times throughout the game, and of course, the phantom false starts against our long snapper. Chiefs had some help. The late hit on Barkley was just dumb and deserved to be called, and the call goedert drew after getting hit up high was definitely a makeup call for the ridiculous OPI against Brown earlier. Bad officiating, but not the worst, and I’m glad none of it had a significant impact on the outcome of the game.

Perna sounding a little salty bringing up the "bad calls" against the chiefs. Yes, that Mcduffie call was weak. But it was a make up call.

As an Eagles fan, I hate that it is this way, especially because people associate the fans with the team, which has a locker room full of wonderful dudes. There are some Philly fans outside the city that are genuinely great people, and honestly that's where you're more likely to find fans of the team who aren't nuts. But the city itself, I completely agree that crowd can be utterly despicable.

If chiefs won last night somehow, the refs would still be blamed today. And everyone would talk about that. It's the fact that they lost. So everyone now is happy and the bad calls in favor or against the chiefs doesn't matter. So to close this out the fans don't care about the refs. They only care about finding the bad calls when chiefs win so they have something to cry about. Therefore eagles dominated last night and they got a very deserving win
