Hello, is this timer compatible with a contact float sensor for one of those yellow minipumps?

    isn't 7,2 a coil and 8,1 are power?

Currently taking Industrial Electronics, and this stuff is confusing sometimes. You're right, 7, 2 IS a coil, but it's the coil inside the timer relay, which, when energized by connecting it between L1 and L2 moves the contacts inside it from Open to Closed, or from Closed to Open (they always switch to opposite what they were before the timer was energized).
In this timer, it seems the contacts on the left side work like any normal relay, they're instantaneous, and when power is applied to the timer, they flip from Open to Closed /or Closed to Open. Now, the right side contacts are almost identical in the way they act, EXCEPT, they don't flip until the time you have set the timer to expires. So, the normally open contacts at 6-8 he ran his power for the load through don't close to send power to the light until 10 seconds have expired.
The PLUS + (L1 Com) and NEGATIVE - (Neutral Com) you likely have seen on a pin-out diagram for 8 and 1 is confusing to me, too. I have seen that, and all I know is each one is used along with either the Open or Closed mated contact to break/close the connection between the switched load and it's power source. It may very well represent whether you are switching the supply side or neutral side of a load.
So if you have inserted the contacts between L1 (supply) and your load, you'd likely connect L1 to pin 8, and then either pin 6 (Normally Open) or pin 5 (Normally Closed) to the load. Likewise, if contacts inserted between (load) and neutral, then connect neutral (L2) to pin 1 and then either pin 3 or 4 (depending on NO/NC wanted) to neutral connection point on load? I am DEFINITELY not 100% sure about this, because usually contacts are supposed to be connected BEFORE loads.
It does explain why one instructor told me to always go from highest to lowest when numbering contact terminals in drawings, as the pin-outs I have in front of me show that, if you follow my reasoning in the previous paragraph, contact numbers will be connected in descending order. I can't figure out really why it matters, as the contacts shift due to the coil being energized or not (returned with a spring usually). I would think ascending order makes more sense, but a different instructor seems to want descending, too. Why? Experts???
