English is not my native language and im having problems finding the meaning of "hot rod".
Everything i've found about it says that it refers to a car which was modified to drive faster(?), i dont understand, so can someone give a an explanation about "hot rod" meaning?

what i recall is that it mainly refers to drag racing, which is mostly about racing down a straight racing track as quickly as possible. in the typical use of this term, this is in comparison to normal cars.
so, hot rod in this context is someone who is is special. in the song, someone isn't as special as they like to think they are.
