One of the very few decent UA-camrs, with decent content, no cursing, decent language, wholesome content, good manners and so forth. That's why i enjoy watching your videos! Kudos to you both!

I think new 'subs' will not realise the absolute state of the entire house when you first bought it. You have both worked tirelessly, diligently and to a budget. You have both tackled stuff way above your skill set and been victorious at every turn. I am super proud of you. Re botox...🙈. Your beauty within shines for all the world to see. Keep shining. 🌟💖⭐.

Ollie saying "I have a higher tolerance for dirt" just sums up practically every man in my life 😂😂 not all of time equally tolerant but still, I find that the male counterpart has a higher tolerance, at least when there's a partner involved that doesn't have such a tolerance 😀

If you would like to adopt a dog one day but are worried about their past, you might want to consider signing up to a waiting list for ex-service training dogs such as guide dogs! We adopted a 3 year old retriever who failed her guide dog training and she is just wonderful. Fully house trained and you know exactly their background. They often fail for small things that wouldn’t be such an issue as a family dog - ours for example just had severe sensitivity to her harness! :)

Laura and Ollie - look at becoming a temporary boarder for Dogs for Good in Bristol! They'll place a dog in training with you for weeks or months, but you're also able to say if you're not able to take on a dog for a period of time (like during holidays or any major renovation works). I've got an assistance dog from them and they're absolutely life-changing!

Thank you so much for sharing this, I think retrievers are the most adorable and had been looking at rescues but realised I wasn't in a position take on the kinds of issues those poor puppies have.

A home is what you guys have build together with your own hands. You guys have come a long way with this house, you guys gave life to this old house. You and Ollie deserve all the good things in Life. Sending you two lots of love and care. Would love to see more garden renovation videos and a home tour in future.

I saved my first down payment by living well below my means, still in my 20s, and having a partner. It’s a multi-year process. That part was in your advice and I love that. So important.

I am impressed with how much you have done with only 20k. Through my job I get to see what people spend on renovations. I would say 20k is usually what people spend on a bathroom alone - you have done so so much more. Still a lot of money - but to make you feel better about it, you have gotten a lot for that money :)

One reason I keep watching your videos is that you remind me a lot of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge😅 in the sense that you guys seem to have the same friendly and easygoing air about you and would be a fun couple to hang out with (not that I ever met them, but it's always the vibe I get from them). The other reason would be actually much simpler - last year I moved with my boyfriend to a rural house with lots of space and since then we haven't stopped doing and tweaking things around it (tons of garden work). The inside reno shall be the next thing and I just love seeing your process as you guys like to do it all by yourselves - something we want to do as well. Keep up the good work, it's a great inspiration!

Couldn't help but chuckle at the Botox question!! It was perhaps a little out on 'left field'! Neither of you are anywhere near needing it...and Laura, you are beautiful - natural and authentic...keep doing whatever it is you do!

You have done extremely well on the renovation in terms of spending. It is subjective, but some home owners could spend 20,000 on a kitchen alone. PS your home is beautiful

I kept an exercise book and listed EVERY item purchased during our extensive renos along with photocopies of all invoices. It saved us when we later had to exchange a few faulty itemsmonths down the track. Also it was a shock to see how much $$ we spent.

I'm probably late, but I have to join in on the pup conversation. My husband and I got a puppy from a foreign rescue. She was 6 months old when she came to us. And they're not abused or traumatised, because they are picked up so young off the streets, whereas most of the ones that end up at the RSPCA or Dogs Trust have been in a bad environment and need a lot of care. So they're usually amazing with dogs, babies and cats. I would absolutely recommend. The organisation we went with was Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue and they were amazing. And we're expecting our first baby soon, and I'm not worried at all. She'll be a great big sister.

This is the 3rd video I am watching from you guys.. Having just found you today😊..
You are talking about romance🌹 and "the red room"🤣🤣🤣.. I immediately thought of "50 Shades of Grey" 🤣🤣.. After this video, I will have to scan back and see what your "red room" was 🤣.
As landlords shouldn't you "fix stuff that breaks" ? That is the rule where I live. The rent should cover contingency costs and wear and tear etc. Always put a percentage of the rent from tenants to cover such things eg boiler replacement, new fridge, etc.
Don't overplan... Life sends curve balls!.... You were lucky to have parents support to buy your house though🤗..I left the UK for my PhD at 24 yrs old after my MSc.. During my PhD I paid off BSc and MSc student loans and used money to travel and backpack all over the world when I had vacation time. I was 28yrs old when I got my first job with a good salary, moving again to another city .. Changed jobs and city again to a better job/salary only 6mth after that. My partner and I saved 10yrs, while paying rent, to get a deposit of a little over 90 thousand GBP (in Germany your deposit has to be min. 30% of the total value of your house)... Which is why most people rent in Germany.
I know this isn't my forever home, after moving 15x since I was 18yrs old due to my 9 yrs of uni studies, including abroad, I don't see anywhere as my real "home" anymore. I had to go down the ladder at work (which ment lower salary) after my first child (although I was the bread winner) , due to Germany being an anti-career mum country, working in a male dominated domain, no family nearby that could help, bad childcare and combined with a husband that did nothing to support in the house or with the kids (although before the first child he promised he would share responsibilities)...now I have finally separated from him after 18yrs.. I am a prisoner of divorce law.. So can not leave Germany and come home to the UK (if you marry abroad look at the divorce laws guys), and I am stuck here for now... But I hope to move, preferably back to the UK, once the kids are older... I will probably sell the house before.. Divorce here is expensive.. About 10 thousand a head.... With kids life is even more unpredictable...and a global pandemicon top... So I don't "long term plan anymore"..
Now, age 48 yrs old, I try and live by "Carpe diem"..I have ideas.. But don't plan.. I will just see how things unfold.. I know I will come across Boulder stones along the way anyway.... Of course career and interests play a role..and the more adventurous... The more risk.
My sister did a B-Ed, got first job and bought flat in london, sold and moved away, bought house with boyfriend, had kids, everything smooth sailing.. So it can be different.
Don't get me wrong, I do not regret my life... I have worked in Russia, China as well as Germany and traveled every continental except Antarctica.. All things I wouldn't have done if I had taken a "safer route"...
Life just happens... Enjoy the ride!

This might sound sarcastic to you, but honestly, it isn't at all. Why are you getting married? You live together anyway and bought a house together. You're already in a committed relationship. Is it only because it's the "proper" thing to do or because family expect it if you? I'm genuinely interested.

I know this is the case where I’m from and I’m pretty sure it’s the same for the UK, but you get tax breaks and it makes it easier in legal situations like medical decisions and legal decisions regarding their children. Also, it’s just a fun cultural tradition!
