Summary 00 00 - 20:00 talking about the problem and its impact. The reduction of social housing over decades. The impact of unaffordable housing on the social fabric. Govt reliance on the Keynesian idea that the market will solve the problem has failed. Private sector fund investment pricing out others. 20:00 - 24:00 Solution: change public policy, see housing as a right, resume public building, EU wide coordination and regulation, rent controls. You're welcome! Title aptly describes it, but from such a slick, big budget production/channel, I'd have expected less statement of the problem and more about solutions. Nothing new.
Increased treatment of property as an investment and Replacement migration used to tackle demographic declines rather than actually ever addressing the root causes of those demographic concerns.
Only for countries (like Portugal or Spain) that allow foreigners that don’t even live in the country to buy up the homes… In the Netherlands 80% of the rental properties are owned by the government and rented out to people at low prices, no profit.
This video is rubbish … it’s a propaganda for left/socialists claiming the only solution is more social housing. No it is not. It is making sure people get a decent salary and enough houses are built. We don’t need people depending on the state …
@@ProbablyAEuropeancoronavirus was basically yesterday and the economic effects of all the monetary policy is just showing up…. Same with Ukraine situation… the real effects of all these situations will be seen in 10-15 years just as we are seeing now the real effects of the 2007/2008 crisis
Money and the desire for money is the root of evil. Some people get so much money that they don't know what to do with it, so they buy 30 luxury cars, luxury apartments in all the cities of the world that they don't use. One would wish there was some overarching power that could regulate the supply of money. That there is a limit to how much money you can earn for an acceptable life, but also a requirement that everyone must help in building society according to their ability.
50% over 14 yearrs 😂😂😂 thats cute where i am from housing cost go up at about 11% per year for the last 15 years and just in the last 3 years they doubled.
Its not capitalism. Major reason why housing is so expensive is becouse is inflation as govements perma print free money which makes people what own assets rich and working class poor. Sounds more like scam and actual capitalism.
The answer is world wide GREED!!!
In shortens: capitalism.
It's a global phenomenon particularly in Western countries, including Australia, NZ, Canada; ordinary people & families priced out of properties😢
The difference is in those countries populations have soared not the case for Most of Europe
Only through mass migration which is causing additional problems...
Own Nothing and Be Happy

Rent is up 19% (or more) in the UK, just in the last 2 years
Corrupt Politicians !!!
Housing and immigration controls need to be top of the agenda for any incoming UK government.
also for the rest of europe i assume
THE SOLUTION IS REVOLUTION.
TAKE THE GOVERNMENT DISOLVE THE UNION AND WORK FOR YOUR NATION.
NOT FOR THE USA AND THE RICH
this will be the death of the European project
They said that about the coronavirus too, and yet here we stand.

If they want to make housing affordable they can start by eliminating property taxes for primary residents.
Housing is a human right, not a commodity!
Very easy its way to hard to build..
It's not though. It's made that way through regulations.

Demand growing much faster over supply. Nothing complicated about this question.
Me and my fellow students are preparing to live in tents on the streeds of Amsterdam after we get our masters degree in engineering😢
You do know you don’t need to be in Amsterdam
That is easy. Capitalism. Next question, please?
vulture capitalism.
We don’t see this in capitalist Japan
