Another great review. I had a lot of the GI Joe vehicles, figures and play sets growing up. I had both the AWE Striker and the Cobra Stinger but the AWE striker a lot better. The Striker was a direct copy of the GI Joe vamp despite the armor additions, the stinger missiles and it being black. But how the AWE Striker looks, the suspension, The front end can turn and the cannon is cool, plus Crankcase is a cooler figure than the reprint Cobra soldier.
Just a small point... a ground to air missile (or four of them) are of zero use against ground targets. The "ground to air" in their name indicates launch to target... so, they launch from the ground (in this case a fixed point on the back of the vehicle) and they target airborne objects, ie aircraft. In a fight against the AWE, it would have no offensive weapons that could attack a ground based target.
I am currently re-building a vintage collection and I am focusing on Cobra at the moment. The Stinger is next on my list of vehicles as it was one of my absolute favorites as a kid. Thanks so much for another amazing review Tony!!
I really liked how you reviewed these. I never had a Stinger, but I had an AWE Striker, and it was my favorite Joe vehicle, so my votes for the AWE Striker over the Stinger! Crankcase was a cool character, though I always played him as a British Joe, because his dress style reminded me of the way some English WW2 soldiers were dressed in some of those classic war films. I just got a modern set with the AWE Striker in it this past Christmas, and like when I was a kid, I was, excuse the pun, in awe when I opened it. To bad Crankcase didn't come with it. Great fun review! Later, YO! JOE!!!!!!!
had the cobra stinger as a kid, when I joined up my mam moved house and cleaned out the attic she sold all my action force toys at the carboot sales she kept my action men thank god
An ineresting concept for this video Tony. for me though, the A.W.E. Striker will always win because its the only 1 of these 2 Vehicles i had as a kid and is probably my favorite alongside the Cobra Rattler.
I never had a Cobra Stinger as a child as when I went to Roche's stores my mom said I can only pick one action force toy, so I always picked the good side and my favourite was The AWE Striker, But today I got my first retro Cobra Stinger in the big bad comics Dundrum, it is a fantastic vehicle for my collection.
Both of these vehicles are AWEsome. Great video. This is a fun comparison and I can't argue the score. Like you , these were the featured vehicles of my youth and to this day are on permanent display. Another one of my favorite vehicles of similar size is the overlooked battle force 2000 eliminator with it's articulated front and rear axles and removable battle platform.
7 months later and I'm prepared to say that ultimately I'm a cobra guy. BUT in this case the AWE striker is my favorite of the two. I've been restoring many vintage vehicles this past year and I had the opportunity to rebuilt both of these. In the end, restoring the AWE striker was more fun to restore, and the plastic is a little more forgiving
As always!!! Excellent video. Highly informative. Encyclopedic!! I was able to buy the new version of the STRIKER from the Retro line. Incredible vehicle. unfortunately Crankcase does not bring any accessories except his helmet.
Brilliant video :) Far prefer the Cobra Stinger! I love it. In the old comics and toys the Stinger was an Action Force vehicle if I remember pre 1985. Now it depends if Snake Eyes is in it’d make the Stinger toast in quick order.
The stinger would be a ambush vehicle it wouldn’t be able to launch missiles on the move but once launched it would have to move fast the striker is designed for rapid attack and scouting wouldn’t last long in a protracted firefight
Love the title cards for the subsections, top drawer review. Great stuff! Except...the Awestriker has *no* armor and it gets three stars? The Stinger has armored doors and roof and it gets four? What does a Mobat or Mauler get, seven stars? Clearly I don't understand the Armor category.
The Stinger is faster, has at least some protection, and has missiles vs a mini gun. I think the Stinger takes it every time. Also since it’s specifically called out as “night attack” capable. I’m assuming the headlights and instrument lighting have IR modes for night vision goggle compatibility. Giving it an advantage there.
Don't think this was a fair match up. The striker is a light weight recon/special ops vehicle. Made to be light weight (no armor) for airborne insertions. While the stinger was made for troop/equipment transportation (meaning armor and power) and anti aircraft/artillery. But that's just my opinion, whatda I know 🙄
Cool vehicles not my era of toys but had they been would definitely have been in my toy box - did collect Action Force though thanks for sharing Check out my channel!
Had the A.W.E. Striker! A real life version was seen in Chuck Norris' Delta Force movie as well.
Stinger is my fav
Amen. Can't be beat. Looks fresh even for today. And the driver is also amazingly simple but perfect.
Great review! Buying a complete version of either vehicle is no fun. Hunting for the pieces is part of the enjoyment of vintage toy collecting.

I'm a French 80's toys lover and I really want to thank you for your great work. All your videos are what I was looking for here, on UA-cam.

Beautiful work, Tony! I really enjoyed how you broke these down. I love these vehicles even more.

Great vehícules and great figure, congratulations 😊👍🏿
Awesome review, these are definitely my favorite vehicles from the line.
The VAMP & Clutch was my favorite. But the stinger was a cool upgrade.
Did not have either of these vehicles as a kid, but did have HISS tank and MOBAT tank. Future episode? Great video as always. Thanks for your efforts.
John Wild good idea!
I never put the AWE Striker against the Stinger, it was always the VAMP Mk II.
I loved my AWE Striker. I had it for years

Great video Tony! I love both of these vehicles, from when GI Joe was still cemented in realism.
The AWE Striker is an amazing vehicle for a toy, and it still remains my favourite.
I had the awe striker, my next door neighbour had the stinger, we had great fun
that t shirt alone earns you the thumps up click
Another awesome video as usual.

The Stinger was the bomb

I’m excited for the retro collection rerelease of the stinger coming this November
Yep - had both those vehicles. Loved them both. Wish my Mum didn't give all my toys away. :/
Great video Tony! More Vs videos please!
No Tony! No draws...maybe vote on them on looks 🤔
Hope you do more match ups like these, it was fun 👍🏽✌🏽
Might I suggest that you do some more of these "versus" videos? It's a neat idea
The stinger would be a ambush vehicle it wouldn’t be able to launch missiles on the move but once launched it would have to move fast the striker is designed for rapid attack and scouting wouldn’t last long in a protracted firefight
LOL I have a GI Joe talking figure, I'll have to post a video
Briefly owned a boxed Tiger Force version of the Stinger!
Love the title cards for the subsections, top drawer review. Great stuff!

I Really liked this! How about the Cobra Battle Corps Scorpion it was the first vehicle in my ARAH collection
Whoever gave this a 'thumbs-down' apparently got run over by BOTH vehicles!
The AWE Striker toy used in the advertisement is different the wheels are bigger and the figure is a different crankcase, probably an early prototype.
My striker has the uk action force stickers
Surprisingly the Retro re-release of the AWE Striker is £18.95. The same with the HISS Tank.
It would have been nice to cover alt versions such as the sas panther and stalker
The Stinger is faster, has at least some protection, and has missiles vs a mini gun. I think the Stinger takes it every time.

Sorry cobras got this One by eight. Quarter mile
But which would fare better against the SAS Panther, towing the Multi-Missile System?
ZygmaExperiment Indeed.
Lol a draw? What is Vince McMahon booking this matchup? JK nice video.
My a.w.e striker says action force on it..

Can the missiles on the Stinger be used ground to ground? Its kind of a bit redundant with the SMS (or HMS if you will).
I could see soliders on the line swapping out the Stinger's missile launcher for a mini gun to cover convos and raids then we would have a real fight
Cool vehicles not my era of toys but had they been would definitely have been in my toy box - did collect Action Force though thanks for sharing Check out my channel!
