I think a lot of us get bogged down by the details and self doubt and its really refreshing to see you being so optimistic and cheerful about something even though you don't have everything figured out yet! A lot of us kinda get held back by our own insecurities and I love how you have courage to take an idea and run with it having faith that you're resilient and you'll eventually make it

I'm doing my best every day to try and balance those feelings, it's a continuous effort to stay positive and keep your thoughts on the bright side, but the more you practice optimism the easier it feels to just believe that anything is possible!! I've spent too long being down, I want to try live to my fullest!! I hope you can too~!! thank you for supporting me!!!

I’m considering doing it but they want you to work like 55hours a week which I struggle to keep up with in a hospitality job 😵

That’s true for the hospitality jobs but if you work for a rental shop or retail it’s close to 40-45 hours and if you have a license shuttling guest is a lot of fun

I think Tokyo is an amazing city for someone like you. It's one of those strange places with so many possibilities that make you feel like anything is possible, that you can be anyone and achieve anything. I felt that kind of energy when I lived there a year. Even if it's kinda exaggerated and every achievement needs a lot of our own effort, I find it so much easier to grow in Tokyo than anywhere else. I wish you good luck and hope you will go a long way with your enthusiasm. And I hope I can take my courage and do the same decision to apply for WH visa too ✨ 🙏

      @Marmaladecos  6 місяців тому

Thank you so much!! I can really feel that energy too and I think you're totally right, it's so easy to grow here!! It's such a big city with so many other creative people too! I hope you can find the courage to apply aswell, it will absolutely change your life, so don't look back with regret!! YOu can do it too!

Hey your video popped up on my feed. It's so inspiring hearing you talk, I do feel I am at the stage in life where things are a bit stagnant and I do work a part time job that is not that fulfilling that I don't really enjoy xD . I hope to some day move abroad too, I love to travel and have lived abroad before but always had to come home for one reason or another. Thanks for your kind words xo

I'm so happy to hear that this resonated with you, you're definitely not alone, I think a lot of us feel that way, I hope you know that you still have many options and amazing possibilities!! Having something to work towards like that makes the daily life and shifts a little easier to get through, you got this.

This was really insightful to watch! I'd love to see more vlogs while you're over there with updates on how you're feeling, what the life / culture change is like, how easy / difficult it is to adapt, your journey with learning the language while you're living there, and the honest reality of changing your whole life around 😮
Back in October I signed up to teach English in South Korea (I'm from the UK) which starts in September 2025. Initially it's gonna be for 12 months, but if I love it out there then I'd 100% stay! Same reasoning as you: life was getting quite stagnant, I love traveling (and k-pop & k-dramas), I turned 32 and I don't wanna regret not doing it later in life. So watching your journey will be super insightful for me, and hopefully I can learn from your experience! 😊
I went to Tokyo for 10 days at the start of March 2020 (literally RIGHT BEFORE covid 😂) and I'd recommend the shopping district in Harajuku - there are loads of big and expensive shops, but if you go down some of the side streets you can find some really cute niche shops and thrift stores! I also recommend a shop called B-Side Label which does loads of music-themed stickers, prints, key chains, and other goodies - the staff there were SUPER friendly to us too and gave us some freebies for trying to speak Japanese, which was so lovely 🥰
Other than that, check out the Sega arcades (heck, ANY arcades) in Akihabara! And literally anything else in Akihabara too! There was also a mameshiba cafe in Akihabara, where you can sit with and pet Shiba puppies for an hour 🥹🥹🥹
If you love Pokémon, definitely go to the Pokémon Center (in Toshima, I think). Other than ALL of that 😂 eat as much food as you can, visit lots of temples (did I see that you'd already been to Sensoji Temple in Asakusa?), and go to some onsen as well - they were strange to start with but very calming and freeing by the end of it! (Cover up any tattoos if you have any though, but you probably already knew that 😂)
Finally, I love the new hairstyle! Very bold of you to go for it after having such long hair, but it was well worth it 😊

YES!! Weekly vlogs are coming along, the first one is already up on my Patreon, I can't wait to see how much I get to do already!
Gosh I really want to go clothes shopping but I really need to be so careful with spending!! Since I'm self employed now I have to be very responsible with how I spend hahah~! Maybe I'll become lucky and get rich to be able to go shopping for more cute clothes ~!!
thank you so much for supporting me and enjoying the video!!!

I'm so glad! You got this!! Also It really depends on how much you want to work when you're over here, if you don't want to , then you'll want to save a fair bit up, at least calculate the cost of your rent, food etc and maybe some extra shopping too! I definitely had less than Ideal when I moved over though, and I'm going okay!!

This is from the perspective of a 🗽 but, for weather the *real* winter is later. I lived in Japan the bottom half of the year, in Kanagawa, it only really snowed in January and February. The first half of October is still quite warm/nice to go to the beach for a bit of time.
When I lived abroad I didn’t know the language and I got by. Colleges in Japan have quite a few options for courses (including just studying Japanese) and it’s a good way to meet people of similar language skill/get a good girl group together. I know quite a few colleges in Tokyo have exchange programs and they also have courses taught in English as well, so you could pursue other interests (((and as a back up for back home putting it on your resume))) and make new friends.
You don’t have to justify it. You are going to look back on this fondly regardless how long the journey is (or if it never ends). Now I have a normal office job, but I still take trips back etc. Have fun!! ✨🌈

this isn’t especially directed to you but more like in general for people who are thinking of living in japan: the thing is, unless you’re not planning on living long term in japan, i wouldn’t recommend that visa as a “miracle way” to move in japan. Especially because of the mention of english teaching in the title it gives the idea that you’re giving an alternative to that. Compared to the work holiday visa, having a work visa is a lot more stable for the long term even if you do the “easy way in” job for native english speakers. Even if you’re planning on looking for a full time job to then switch to a work visa and stay permanently in japan, without japanese proficiency (at least jlpt n2) it will be very difficult to find a job. Unless you’re planning on working for a foreign company in japan but that would reduce your options quite a bit.

I think it's a really good point to make, for me it just felt the easiest for what I needed, I'm sure there's a better option to suit every individuals needs ofc!!

I think you could still come for up to 90 days but it wouldn't be possible for you to work sadly, you can still rent out monthly manshions though and save a ton on accomodation while you're here!!
