Time to stock up before the baby. Come along for a Sam's Club haul like no other. Maybe we shouln't have picked the night before a snowstorm to go grocery shopping, but it all worked out. Thanks for coming along on our last Sam's Club haul ever.

Whoopie pie recipe:
1 c. oil
2 c. brown sugar
4 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. dark cocoa
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
Filling:
3 egg whites
3 tsp. vanilla
6 tbsp. flour
3 tbsp. milk
2 1/4 c. shortening
5 c. confectioners' sugar
Cream oil, sugar and eggs together. Add vanilla. Add milk alternately with dry ingredients and mix well. Drop onto cookie sheets. Bake at 350 for about 8 minutes (will depend on size you make them, but get them out underdone rather than overdone.)
FIlling: Beat egg whites until stiff. Add vanilla, flour, and milk. Beat well. Add shortening and sugar. Whip on high speed for 3-5 minutes until light and fluffy. Assemble like oreos. Enjoy!
I love to wrap these individually and keep in the freezer for lunches.

My little guy does the same thing at church! One of the songs we sing each week (the Doxology) is part of the reason he takes up to an hour to fall asleep for naps . . . he's singing it on repeat.
Don't worry on what someone else thinks about your home or the money you spend. People only see about 30 minutes of your life in a video. Besides, it's your home, your life and your money! Thank you for being you.

I grew up Mennonite, so I’ve really been enjoying your channel. I used to LOVE when Mom made whoopie pies. To save time, she baked them as a sheet cake with the filling in between a top and bottom layer. She would cut them into squares. She’d freeze them, and partially frozen whoopie pies are so amazing!
Megan, I’m 70 and I love your videos. All of them. You can’t please everyone, and most of your viewers love your content.
People don’t know your financial situation and like you said, you’re doing your renovations as you can. I love what you’ve done.
Also, about your grocery hauls. If people watch you for any length of time, they see you preparing mostly healthy foods for your family. I think we all have some of the not most healthy foods at times.

Megan, you and Josh don't owe anyone an explanation on how you spend your money! You both work hard, you do a lot of the work yourselves, etc. It's sad that people can't be happy for other people. I enjoy grocery hauls because we are empty nesters so no need to buy in bulk (other than Costco's toilet paper...Kirklands brand is awesome by the way!!) And we are 4 hours from a Costco and we don't have a membership. So there's that. Wishing you all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy. You have been on my pregnancy prayer list and I am happy to announce that our sweet neighbor who was also on my prayer list, had her beautiful, perfect baby boy last Friday. I just added another mother onto my list last night so I still have 4 of you pregnant mama's on my list one of which is our daughter in law!! Can't wait for your baby and birth story!! My washer/dryer set is 27 years old and still going strong. Yeah, not fancy in the least, but they work. Sometimes when using them, I'm reminded to thank God that I have what I have. Miller singing! How precious is that! Still praying for you and baby boy. So close now!

Yes! Ours are “only “ about 9 years old and my hubby is great about fixing them when they fuss. I laughed when the comment about the spin cycle came up because mine was spinning and the dryer is loud and I almost couldn’t hear hers! 😅
@@melissaboeck5264 It's funny that you say your 9-yr-old appliances have needed fixing when mine are 27 yrs old and have never needed a single repair. They don't make things like the used to, that's for sure! Well, that and maybe in God's providence I ended up with the exact right washer/dryer.

Just FYI…we lost our church issued Sam’s card when we retired. But I found a deal for a one-year membership for $50 with a $40 gift card and a free rotisserie chicken. So we jumped on that. Watch for a similar bargain. Praying for your family and your newest sweetie.

I am fascinated by grocery hauls, especially from other countries. Going to a local grocery store is actually always on my list when I'm travelling abroad! Food prices also vary a lot depending on where in the world you live so it makes absolutely no sense to me to voice opinions about that. I wish I had access to a bulk store, it's not very common in Sweden. Luckily we have access to local farmers so we can source our meat sustainably. And Miller singing is just the cutest thing!
Nice to know that other people also like to visit local grocery stores. I esp like the local ones that are not in my area.

I’m sure it’s hard to ignore but, it’s good that you’re able to basically ignore peoples negative feedback about your spending. Only you know how hard you worked for that money and how you choose to spend it. It is not anybody else’s business. You and Josh are a wonderful example of working together as a team to create and work together as a family. Miller is the sweetest! you are the most humble and down to earth content creator I've seen. It's absurd how other people take the time to watch what you're up to and then criticize when you actually save and budget for things and also do all of your own labor to save costs. OMG the little 1 singing is the cutest thing I've seen, so precious. And Megan I am surprised to hear anyone criticizing your spending. You cook from scratch, so you did your bedroom but I think you said it's been years since you did anything to it. People are just miserable sometimes, I think you are fairly thrifty & im glad you don't let them bother you because you are authentic which is why people watch. My opinion is, you do what you gotta do in this life. I shop at Sam's club once in awhile. I'm in central N.C. we have a BJs club its about the same but sorta smaller. Grocery hauls! To me, Sam's/Costco are for stocking up, I do it myself! So any money spent is going to stretch for several weeks. I'm a widow, so on my own. Some weeks I spend very little, others a lot more, depending on my pantry. I try to watch sales, starting at Aldi and then a couple of other grocery stores that are on my way home from Aldi. Sam's, I pick-up when things are a bargain, and use the huge store as exercise. It's really no ones business what you spend your money on, even if you feed your kids junk food a lot, which you don't!!! During COVID, I renovated the main parts of my house and if taken at one time, it was expensive. But I had been buying supplies, paint, etc for a few months and the end was just doing the work. Worth every penny. Don't pay any attention to those who judge you.
