when meera asked her friend to call jai that she wants to talk to him but you see when they meet irony is that meera didn't say a single word in that conversation but jai open his heart in front of her unknowingly he is going on and on and on till he realize that he is late now for this thing that scene stole my heart and that dialogue that you could force me meera you have to marry me i don't care then who knows

I had to go back and rewatch the movie to assure myself that what I was feeling after the first watch was genuine and real. This movie grows on you..its a slow burn..Go back and watch it once more you will real fall in love with it.
I think you guys missed a lot of the subtleness through the dialogues and just Imtiaz Ali's direction. He was making such a big social commentary about modern dating and couples and showing the reality rather than the fantasy (hence the title)
PS I love both of you guys together in reactions but the jokes and conversations are better for comedies or commercial movies not so much this type of film that cuts deeper

Guys, you are watching a cut down version. They sat there for 2 hours staring at a screen. It's not easy to focus on each and every single dialog while staying shut. We're not here to watch their still faces, we're here for their genuine reaction.

I watched the complete version. It was not good. I had to lower their volume and after 45 minutes, I just started watching alone. Even in cinema hall I don't talk much when it 's a new movie and being gennuine is fine but this material is for public so they can only understand if they watch their own full version like us.
Nowadays all these reactors have started behaving like some moral police or judgemental to a character that they completely ruin the essence of a film and don't even understand it completely.I am not saying that saif's character is correct throughout the movie but he's just a character in a movie there are people like him who behaves like that but when these reactors don't relates to a character they start judging that character and completely ruin a story.If they'll keep doing this moral policing kind of thing i am not even sure if they'll like movies like Dil se, Laila Majnu etc..
I wonder if they know the actress Giseli who perfectly played a typical Indian girl in 1950 is actually Brazilian and didn't even speak Hindi
Yes when I watched this movie first time I was like this girl seems odd, mean doesnt look Indian. Did research and found out this is Brazilian and it blew my mind lol

For more Imtiaz Ali films - "Socha Na Tha" is a good pick. I don't recommend When Harry Met Sejal, but Socha Na Tha is great!
LMAO KANK is so memorable and distinct to jaby for that SRK love scene while SRK has had the most legendary romantic movies in bollywood in the form of veer zaara and devdas. Kinda goes on to show how he became the king of romance without even kissing his costars for the most part

Love Imtiaz's work .. and especially this film. I have always been the biggest admirer of the Jaby Koay channel (Now CineDesi) , and have got so many people hooked on to it. But of lately, have this small observation, especially in reactions involving Jaby.. sometimes I feel he gets too excited, and runs commentaries while crucial dialogues and moments are going on in the movie .. often leading to missing out on nuances or actual intent of the narrative.
Eg. An important part of the narrative / iconography here are cities with iconic bridges : London and the Tower bridge, SF and the Golden Gate bridge, Kolkata and the Howrah bridge ... structures which traverse long distance :)
Just a suggestion would be the to keep the reactions during the movie a little shorter, or maybe pausing the movie when talking, and having a longer discussion once the movie has finished.

The ex girlfriend stories are soo excessive... Also by this point jaby should have realized that the common factor in all those crazy ex stories is Jaby himself. Maybe he is the problem and blames it on his girlfriends.

This movie is etched in everyone's heart & mind, one of the best movies on love by Imtiaz Ali, and some of the songs are still on repeat for a lot of people. Also! This movie is one of the best work of Saif Ali Khan along with Race and Cocktail which also came around the same period.

Watch Saif's Lal Kaptaan, highly underrated
Socha na tha (2005) -- IA's debut and also Abhay Deol's.
Jaby please continue with Imtiaz Ali's filmo and watch his recent movie *Chamkila* with Diljit Dosanjh. It will remain as one of the best Indian movies this year. It's a biopic.
We also need a reaction to *Highway* (IMO Imtiaz's best), which was also Alia Bhatt's 2nd movie, Achara and/or Andrew would be a good choice of co reactors I think.
More in the style of Love Aaj Kal there is also *Cocktail* which Imtiaz wrote (didn't direct), with Saif and Deepika too. It's the movie that sort of relaunched Deepika's career when she was stuck in simple girl next door roles.
EDIT: I had posted before hearing the review, glad to know Vivian has seen and loved Highway! I'm wondering who she saw it with.

Also that song shows, how jay thought his passion(profession) is enough for him to have a fulfilling life. But soon realised, love is the only thing that can fill the void inside you and makes the life meaningful. Meera was that for him, and for that he could also leave everything.
You should definitely watch "cocktail" same caste with another main character named 'meera'.
I feel sad for these guys that they don't understand songs and it's melody. Not particularly for this movie but most movies that have good songs and literally better then the movie itself. I hope they learn English as it's been more then 4 years and yet you haven't learnt the language.btw I liked Rishi Kapoor's story more then Saif's.

Imtiaz Ali has a problem. He casts crap actressess to spoil the movie. Be it nargis fakhri, giselli monterio or sara ali khan. Don't know why he does that

He doesn't care from acting, he just wants a pretty face even if it means ruining the movie😂 although I would necessarily call sara all that pretty, she's average, but I guess there nepotism there as he's friends with Saif.

Also I forgot to mention that Jaby should watch *Jab Harry Met Sejal* , it's one of the rare Imtiaz Ali movie that got mixed reviews but I really enjoyed it and I think Jaby would too especially SRK's performance.
As to female characters, Imtiaz has always known how to write them and give them depth actually, it's just that Harleen was supposed to be very shy because of her conservative environment and we only see her through the guy who loves her, whom she could barely exchange with.
Imtiaz Ai is also the creator of the Netflix series *She* (season 3 upcoming) about a young female cop struggling with her sexuality. His understanding of the female psyche is truly impressive IMO. You could do a watchalong for the 1st season, or maybe just a review 🙂

Ohh you missed the surprise to find out the actress who was playing young harleen kaur is not Indian
Harleen, "the girl from the past", was played by a Brazilian model who spoke almost no Hindi (IIRC). Which is why she didn't get many speaking lines. I thought she did quite a good job, given the cultural difference. Although, they could have just got an actress who could do more and fleshed out that role better.

Hi. For this specific movie try this, Jaby and Vivian. Watch this movie again in the same way we are watching. Your own recording and the movie in another tab. That would serve a better example if people are wrong or not. I was only able to watch it for 45 minutes maximum without turning your recording off. I was watching it for the first time so it felt as if I am in cinema hall where people are constantly talking. Maybe those who have watched it many times would not mind the constant talking(most of them were not about the dialouges or scenes) in this recording for obvious reasons.
