- Many songs from the Tamil Films have been ignored periodically for reasons best known to no one. Especially, never or rarely attempted in any reality shows, stage shows or competitions.
When the nation is on a Quarantine, Subhasree Thanikachalam launches this new series.
This series will feature a set of some classic songs that are rarely heard, rarely performed, mainly between the period 1945 - 1990, and she will also try and give some trivia for the songs.
The songs will all be performed by young singers who came out of her shows, which mainly focused on old songs. Re programmed and arranged by musicians.

True, the other instrument is a trumpet - majestic notes from Brass section in between the nice melodious strngs tugging at our heart! It is accurately depicting the alternating feelings of big highs and bouts of pathos of a person under influence of hallucinogens.
Maestro Ilayaraja visualized and brought out the definition for the word "Hallucination" musically! Orchestration PARAGON; only possible by IR. The 3 interludes speak volumes of his GENIUS. That is why he is incomparable. SPB sings away into intoxication & addiction, making the listeners feel topsy-turvy. Also, a well-picturized song; Puliyur Saroja and Kamal Haasan give it all out again, like Megam kottattum. The Violin Decet makes a huge difference to this program. Hats off to them! Shyam Benjamin is an asset to this team. Here, the singer, though good, did not deliver the liveliness in the song. Good reproduction, on the whole.

@BC99, while u captured essence my take away from these reproduction versions are the immaculate quality of his compositions in terms of instrumentation, sound quality to appreciate and enjoy it more. The singers can give their shot to the best of their abilities but it is difficult to match those legends. We must appreciate that they did not compromise their original voice that would look fake. While many are attempting these I personally QFR stands out in terms of musicians, singers and overall content. 🙏

There are many ways people understand and enjoy music...some people focus only on singing..the main tune and singers...rest all are accompaniments....they acknowledge but see it as support to singers and don't value of focus much on its intricacies ...
Another way is to treat instruments also as singers and relish it...raja compositions gave this creed a great canvas yo enjoy and explore...
Instruments are no less and sometimes even more important...interludes are many times beautifully structured than even pallavi and charanams...
There are many songs I listen for the instrumentation....the opening...interludes and closing..
The way he takes off into an interlude from a pallavi or charanam and land back in time to transit smoothly into a charanam is magic usually... The flex point where he transits is magic many times....
Of co6, I listen to Raja's songs primarily for the interludes and especially the preludes ....100 of songs with stunning Orchestration and arrangements. I feel I am very lucky that I could understand its grandeur and quality, and able to enjoy that magnificent work.
