"If you are nothing without the suit, then you shouldn't have the suit." I would like to think this was a call back to Iron Man 3 where Tony did most of the work without the suit.
I think it also parallels what Odin was trying to teach Thor and why Dr. Irskin chose Steve in both of their first movies. How you act when you don't have your suit or hammer or power is the measure of how much you deserve to have them.
The 'Homecoming' title has a dual meaning. It's not just about the high school dance. In 1999 with Marvel in financial trouble, they agreed to a contract to allow Sony exclusive rights to use Spider-Man in motion pictures. That's where the Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies came from. Eventually, with the MCU making lots of money, Marvel negotiated with Sony for the rights to make three Spider-Man MCU movies. So this movie represented Spider-Man's 'homecoming' to Marvel.
Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) is the Vulture. One of Spider-man's early villains from the comics. Michael Mando who talks to Toomes in prison is Mac Gagran who will become the Scorpion. Another classic Spider-man villain.
Adrian Toomes ( aka Vulture) first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #2 in May 1963 by the legendary duo of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. He is one of the original Spider-Man villains. Adrian Toomes was an electrical engineer who used his gifts to create a suit that allowed him to fly. He used this technology to perform petty crimes such as bank robbery and various thefts. Vulture is an original member of the famous group of Spider-Man enemies known as the Sinister Six.
@@tktopmovies I didn't know Adrian Toomes first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #2! So, he used his electrical engineering knowledge to build the Vulture suit?! That's so cool!
I love that Peter has such horrendously bad judgment. It's not a character flaw that we usually see--he's not arrogant, not jaded, he's morally upright... but dear God, he thinks like a fifteen year old. (Also, he is not good at a lot of parts of the job. Just plain needs practice. I love that.)
Zendaya MJ is her own character name Michelle Jones Watson who is inspired by two previous Spider-Man girlfriend within the comic book with one being Mary Jane Watson and the other one Angelica Jones who is a mutant called Firestar that also has red hair.
i just discovered ur channel and binge watched nearly all of ur videos in like 2 days 😭 u guys have definitely become one of my new fav reaction channels, i just love ur energy!! so excited for marvel mondays now 🫶
So Donald Glover/Childish Gambino is someone you might want to keep in mind for the future. While he hasn't reappeared in the MCU again, Aaron Davis is someone important, and the line he says about "I have a nephew who lives in the city", is a HUGE easter egg. I don't want to say too much, as it's not an MCU spoiler...but would be a spoiler if you guys are planning to eventually watch the "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" movies (you definitely should!). Just...keep that name in the back of your mind.
Yes, we did wait through all the credits for the captain america scene and that made it even funnier. (The fact that some people were mad made me like it even more)
The second guy with the shocker arm has a great role in the Anna Kendrick, Sam Rockwell movie, "Mr. Right". Its a great flick and you should check it out. It's a great, lesser known flick.
The "8 Years Later" card is actually an error. This movie takes 4 years after Avengers, not 8 (Avengers took place in 2012, Civil War and Homecoming took place in 2016).
What are the things I love about this movie is the Ferris Bueller's Day off Easter eggs throughout. Admittedly, I had only seen that movie a year or two before.
TOM HOLLAND IS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION IN THIS ROLE!!! He has such a puppy dog like quality to him. You just want to pinch his cheeks and pat him on the head and rub his ripped tummy lol 😂. Tom is my favorite Peter Parker because he actually feels like an awkward intelligent high school student who just so happened to get super powers. I understand people have criticism because of the whole Iron Man basically making him and stepping in and helping “everytime”. But I personally like that aspect and think it makes sense that he would mentor Peter. Tobey Maguire is also incredible as Spider-Man but he never really came across as all that young to me. I think he dos great with all the dramatic stuff where as Tom does really well with the comedic and youthful stuff. And Andrew Garfield did incredible with all of the one liners and just having a coolness to him. So just because Tom is my fav doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate all of the different versions of Peter Parker/Spider-Man
not right on time today 😢 but i just have to say i love how you guys commentate, like when i get overlapped in a convo i immediately stop in my tracks but you guys are just so linked in it’s almost like listening to radio hosts- always a great experience with TK top movies ❤
1:19 I felt the same way. I never really liked the Andrew Garfield ones because I was comparing it to Tobey Maguire...NOW I've come to the conclusion that Tobey makes a good Spider-Man, Andrews makes for a good Peter Parker, but Tom Holland does a great job at embodying both Peter and Spidey. He is now my favourite of the three.
So many people think Tobey Maguire was the first Spiderman but there was one actor before that in the late 70’s, Nicolas Hammond. It was great back then but very dated by todays standard
That whole, it's not a hug, clip was improvised by RDJ. Tom Holland thought that he'd prank RDJ by hugging him. Unfortunately for him, it backfired, leading RDJ saying that it wasn't a hug. He was just getting the door. That they wasn't "there" yet. (Which led to the comment made by Spiderman about "now being there" in Endgame, when Tony hugged Peter.) The director thought it was funny, so they kept it in. In another funny moment, Tom Holland said that there was a scene where he helped The Vulture out of the water. And in a take, he says something on the lines of, "I'm Spiderman, you're safe." To which Michael Keaton quips back, "You might be Spiderman, but I'm Batman!"😂
Here are some Spider-Man homecoming interesting details. By Tony giving Peter the advanced Spider-Man suit to help him hitting in fact he stunted Peter's growth as a hero with a crutch and taking Peter's confidence as his own hero. The reason Tom Holland Spider-Man seamless mature than the previous Toby's or Andrew Spider-Man is due to the enabling heroes that only exist in the MCU with none of them existing in the previous Spider-Man in the universes. Peter Parker's skin is as equal to kevlar with a healing ability that can heal nearly fatal injuries within a day or two. Peter created his own web shooters and web fluid that has strength equal to steel cable. Physically Spider-Man is 10 times stronger than Captain America who himself is more powerful than his comic book counterpart whose strength is only around 2000 lb with the MCU Steve Rogers strength is currently during the events of this homecoming is about 15 tons who himself gets stronger with every appearance.
The Childish Gambino cameo is a crazy easter egg. He is credited as Aaron Davis and talks about a nephew who lives in the city, he actually calls him in a deleted scene and refers to him as Miles. That's Miles Morales, a comics character that was created back during the time when the Amazing Spiderman(Andrew Garfield if you will) movies were being made. During the same time Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino was in a show called Community and appeared in an episode with some spiderman pjs and the fans began to fancast him as the new Spider-Man for the new franchise. Of course there was backlash of people saying there could not be a black Spider-man and thus the comic book character of Miles Morales was created, who quickly became on the most popular Spider-Mans. So maybe CG could not play Miles but atleast he made the nod to him in the MCU.
Peter doesn't need ANY suit Peter is one of the strongest Marvel characters' I believe in the comics he has gone toe to toe with the Hulk. He really has uncharted strength. He basically can be as strong as he needs to be. He continues to get stronger with age and experience. And his web just gets better over time.
51:05 No, not Mary-Jane Watson. They LITERALLY just called her Michelle. In the next film (no spoiler) it's revealed that her full name is Michelle Jones-Watson.
I like the HISHE [How It Should Have Ended] version of this. Peter does have super strength and pulling a gun on him would not have worked out very well.
