I fully concur with the Peter Steele / TON recommendations. I used to do TON songs at karaoke all the time. Such a great vocal style to do. I think a couple of my "performances" are still up in my channel. I keep forgetting they're still up. Nettie and All Hollows Eve, if I recall... Nettie was a bit of a cheat, as I had to sing over the actual CD, but I reckon I harmonized well enough. All Hallows Eve was an actual karaoke version, so those vocals are all me - no backups from Peter there, lol.
5,3 doesn't sound right . I am 5,8 and when I met him he wasn't too much shorter than me at all . I would have guessed 5,6 but maybe he was wearing boots with lifts idk lol !
They wanted him to play wolverine before Hugh Jackman, but he said no to focus on his music. He would've had to sign a multi picture deal and that would've stopped him from getting in the studio and touring. The Wolverine we never got.
Yes please. “Hybrid Moments“ is such a great song. Not as much "in your face" than a lot of the more popular Misfits songs, but clearly one of my favourites. "Theme for a Jackal" is IMO another great one for the same reasons.
In the 90's Glenn Danzig was approached to play Wolverine because he was physically similar to the comic book version, but declined because he was going on tour
The drummer threw his drumsticks out to the crowd which is a common occurrence for cool bands, I’ve caught a few in the crowd and the guitarists will give their guitar picks to people in the crowd up front which I’ve gotten several
Chuck was such a beast. One of my all-time favourite drummers. Not that he was doing a lot of fancy stuff, but he was so on point with what he did and had such a punch. Somehow for me the Phil Rudd of Punkrock.
My aunt was thrilled when Darrell Crofts of Seals and Crofts, tossed her his guitar pick. But quickly became jealous when James Seals handed my dad his fiddle bow.
This song was Danzigs responce to a group called the PMRC who at the time were trying to censor music (you ever wonder how the "Parental Advisory Explicit Content" stickers came about.
Saw him at Rock and Shock in Worcester, MA before the pandemic.....great night! Doyle was there and he came out for a mini set of Misfits tunes.....great show and I got to order beers at the bar while standing next to Robert Patrick and also Merle and the old guy from the farmhouse on Walking Dead
Every time I see this, I just recall the Beavis and Butthead commentary on the video. "Settle down Danzig." - How the Gods Kill is one of my favorites of his.
Hey Biss. It's so interesting to watch you listen to these (80's-90's)songs for the first time while I grew up listening to them and dancing with my friends on long friday rock nights from 8pm to 4am. I remember rumors that Glenn Danzig was asked to audition for the role of Wolverine in the first X-Men movie. Apparently there's some truth to it & he just told them no.
Mosh pits could get pretty crazy back then yet lots of stage diving. Danzig was known for trying to stop it, saw that steel fist used on someone. I dove 7 times at Sound Garden, COC, Danzig @ Agora CLE but only once while they played. Eeerie Von almost knocked my head off with his bass.
If your wondering were about the lyrics to this, in 1988 when it was released, Tipper Gore lead an organization to censor music. This was a song about telling parents that they can censor their children's listening of music but they should know that their children are the ones that are going to decide what they want to listen to. We have labels in the US today that tell you that music has something obscene (lyrics or content) because of the PRMC.
Danzig and the rest of the Misfits were a big influence for Metallica and a few years ago they were invited to be in a Metallica's Anniversary I believe the 40th one, it is on UA-cam. I've always liked The Misfits. Greetings from Guadalajara Mexico
Can you believe that was their 30th anniversary all the way back in 2011?!? After seeing performances from those gigs online, I was stoked to get tickets to their 40th anniversary in 2021. While it was cool to see them play at least one track from every album both nights (Fixxxer! was awesome live), they had no guests, not even Jason Newsted, which was savagely disappointing.
This song was on the playlist before wrestling matches, and football games. Back then there was no playlist, I had to go into the parking lot and put in a cassette and blast it as loud as possible in my Bronco 2.

Hello Bisscute, I am pleasantly surprised that you reacted to Danzig and especially to "Mother", one of the most emblematic of the group, with a unique mix of heavy rock with blues influences, complemented by Glenn Danzig's deep and menacing vocal style, incredible the very powerful guitar riff that reinforces the aggressive and provocative tone. The lyrics are very striking, a song of protest and defiance, I understand that Glenn wrote it in response to censorship and pressures from conservative society in the United States in the 80s, with its moral crusades that tried to regulate music that they considered inappropriate for young people, imposing warning labels on albums with explicit content. The song reflects Danzig's frustration with these forces that tried to futilely protect young people from the influences of rock, metal and other genres considered rebellious. The song certainly has a defiant tone towards these conservative paternal figures, suggesting that they will not be able to protect their children from what he represents. Very interesting choice Bisscute, I hope you continue to surprise us. Greetings and a hug from Mexico City
Now Danzig is def a band I never expected to see here. Check out Misfits (horror/hardcore punk rock) classics: 'Skulls', 'I Turned into a Martian' & 'Mommy, Can I Go Out & Kill Tonight' & Samhain (death/horror rock) from my fav album Samhain III: November-Coming-Fire: 'To Walk the Night', 'In My Grip', & 'Halloween II'😁 Someone already mentioned these and I did thumbs up the comment but here they are again. Their stuff from the 80's is some of the best ever
Check out Samhains version of Twist of Cain.
It's the original version and rocks hard.
They and The Cramps practically created Psychobilly.
And unfortunately Danzig got replaced by Michael Graves who has come out as a white supremacist proud boy 💀
If there was an award for the most genuine reaction video this would win.
Someone should tag Glenn. Biss's eye fluttering would flatter him.
But he's old now and even more of a prick. At least in the 90s he was kind of attractive, still.
Glen Danzig’s nickname is Evil Elvis. He freely admits that singers like Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison of The Doors are his biggest influences.
